Was interesting to hear from Dagon's side but have to say it sounded pretty unconvincing overall. A lot of dancing around the issue and a lot of words but no real explanation.

So basically, what he was accused of and what he was convicted of ended up being two very different things. There certainly was something illegal in his possession considering he took a plea deal, but it was obviously something not so drastic otherwise he would have ended up in jail for life. And considering those events happened about 15 years ago, it looks like he has since then shown to be a rehabilited person without any legal issues.

To go down the slope, more and more extreme. Obviously, he had a pornography problem. I know musicians in these genres can have these attitudes of taking things to the extreme and no limits, etc. But, there are repercussions for these things. I don’t think his explanation will assuage anyone that has doubts about him. It was vague and open to interpretation and I think that’s the way he wants it.

I was looking forward to this Interview. Your Interviews are the best part of your Chanel. I especially like that you do not shy away of critical questions. Some would go up asses to get those interwiews and keep it komfortable. I am not a fan of his indirect answers he provided. But you asked and he answered. Also some direct words regarding this topic are not for the algorythm and this Plattform. So you have do dance around so terms here as well I guess.
Many thanks to the Rauta team and especially Jerry, thanks to him I learned a lot about the personality of Dagon and the Inquisition band. Thanks friends for your perfect work !
Really glad you guys delved into the vocals, it's the one thing that always put me off. Hearing the reasoning behind why they are that way somehow makes it more palatable. Really enjoyed this one, Rauta. Respects from Australia.
19:25 that explains Don't Break the Oath to my ears. the dry guitar tone of that album turned me off for years when I was a teenager. until I focused on elements that deserved the constant praise over the decades.
Thanks for this interview, bit of a scoop I think. Appreciated hearing things from Jason's perspective. Still one of my favorite bands. Looking forward to the new album. Peace.
This has to be one of the best interviews I have ever watched. Jason is just a very interesting person, eager to talk about the deep aspects of Black metal and life, almost like a BM cult sage, just by looking how carefully he expresses. I miss Incubus in the interview too. Saludos desde Colombia Dagon, en esta tierra siempre te esperamos! 🦉
My first Inquisition album was Ominous Doctrines which I LOVE, but Invoking the Majestic Throne of Satan still has some of my favorite songs on it. Imperial Hymn for Our Master Satan, For Lucifer My Blood, Rituals of Human Sacrifice for Lord Baal, title track.. all so fkn awesome. Actually, would be kinda cool to hear a rerecording of that album, even though I love it how it is.
So is he saying that the files were just labeled horrible CP? Like it wasn’t CP but the file had a CP title? I’m confused. I don’t want it to be real but I also want to know the truth. And doing my best to get to the truth with actual evidence.
Right!? There were several parts during this entire interview where Dagon was appearing to be dealing with the "town drunk" 😂 Like: "Hey man! You're in a metal band!? Metal is cool!!! I wanna tell you about the time.."... 😂 All good 😎🤘
Agreed. Thought Dagon was trying to make a profound point at the end there but it seems like he got cut off before he could finish. Either way, was great to have this interview. 🤘🏻
I think it helped lend to the sincerity of the conversation. It helped break down those formal walls we build up when dealing with new people. So we got far more honest and thought out answers from Dagon.

That was quite a dance he performed. Good interview.
I really like the fact that Rauta is a little drunk because it allows him to ask questions more spontaneously, "with his guts" you could say, and Dagon's answers are absorbing! An interview I will re-watch several times for sure. Hail Inquisition!
What a great interview. You see Dagon thinking and trying to find the right words and the right story for an answer on many of the questions. I see and listen to a thinker, sure he may ramble but hey it is an interview/conversation. This is not Ted talk or any other speech addressed with an agenda or a goal. It’s a dialogue and it came out rather honest and organic. Which allows people to know the person behind the artist. As for the “question” asked. Kudos to Rauta for taking it for the team and giving in to the “pressure” of the common people. The short answer is: Dagon answered to experts in law, and to the system of his country and whatever he did or did not do he has been judged for it by the system. A system of justice is set in place to help society and individuals move forward, hopefully not to punish and send them into oblivion. Strangely enough, some people think that they can log in to their computers and run their mouth about someone, without even having access to facts. And on top of that wanting to play judge, lawyer, executioner, etc. Freedom of speech is a right we have in the US and getting a good education is also a right. The more educated you are the better your opinions and judgments of things may be. Dagon touches on a very good point by highlighting how easy may be for some people to just go ahead and unleash their frustrations online, criticizing others or whatever. I wonder how many of these people who run their mouth could actually hold an office working for the government.
Thanks for your comment, truly appreciating that. Indeed, I prefer my interviews more like organic conversations vs the typical question & answer kind of thing with preplanned questions. I get it: my style is not for everybody, but brings me joy to hear a lot of ppl can like this style I do. And when it comes to this question about his time in court etc: I don't honestly think anyone in the metal scene could give a better answer than he did. Like said, legal matters are not easy and secondly, ppl indeed could try to falsify the answer with cut-and-edit tactics to serve their agenda. He has done his trial in the court of law and justice system. And we should accept it.
Dagon is such a well-spoken and intelligent guy. It's a sheer pleasure to watch this interview. So, I'm gonna listen to Inquisition now that I'm finished with the interview ;)
Thanks, I think so too. I have asked Gorgoroth at Inferno, but Host (of Taake and Gorgoroth) said that it's not likely because Infernus doesn't really do those.
@@RautaMetal I did some more research on this and I trust you and your judgment and I am a huge fan of his work and yours as well..I hope that he can move past what the slanderous fucks at metal sucks did to him..thanks and take care
I’m glad you addressed the ‘ big issue’ May came up but I feel like there was a lot more Dagon could have said to either defend himself or set things straight :/
I think Dagon should simply have said something like: “There is a world of difference between accusation and proof. I was found *not guilty*, despite investigators having two years to destroy my life if they had anything. I served no time, but mud sticks, thanks especially to the Jewish tourists at MetalCucks. And the fact that we are even discussing this resuscitates the bottom feeders who would otherwise starve from a settled private matter.” I find it unfortunate that the subject even arose, because it’s all certain people are going to take away from what was otherwise a very interesting and enlightening interview.
@@Abyssaeon you had me until “Jewish tourists”. If he said that, it would come off as immature and silly, no matter how garbage MS are. There is a whole story Dagon is not telling us and he can if he chooses to
@@XX-sy4rs It’s not immature - it’s a simple fact, and it is relevant to their particular vendetta. Ben Umanov and Matt Goldenberg are Jews, which is why they launched this particular cancel crusade against Inquisition in the first place. Did you not read the first pitiful article they published? It was all about “Nazism”. One glance tells you these bespectacled weaklings are typical latecomer tourists and bottom feeders. This personal grudge got the band thrown off tours I attended, even before MS dredged these other ancient allegations out. They were clearly peeved that no one (except middlemen, promoters, etc.) cared enough about their tribal sensitivities in the underground, so they kept digging for anything that might harm the band’s deserved success and momentum. No true Metal devotee would label his endeavor “MetalSucks”. Typical Brooklyn hipster infiltrator shit. The fact that Dagon granted any time to the subject whatsoever is frankly incredible, but like he said - how many hours does Rauta *really* want to devote to unraveling the subject (which Dagon is surely sick to death of)? The investigation took two years. Can you summarize two years in one word? And furthermore, do the kind of people who are still fixated on the matter truly deserve additional time and energy, when they’ve already demonstrated that they’re not actually interested in anything but an admission of guilt? If they haven’t heard a denial, they’re not listening. The “Nazi” accusation was the real gripe. The rest is selective moral outrage, and the proof is who and what they ignore versus who and what they hunt down.
Not much to add to Abyssaeon’s comment, but this: I loathe most of the stuff what ppl at MetalSucks do. They don’t aim for constructive, neutral journalism.
Any chance you will be interviewing Dagon (or Incubus) again in the future? I hope there will be another one of this! If so, could you ask him what Amp Setup he used on the first three albums? Dying to know that. Cheers and keep up the good work! Hail the Ancient Cult! ⚔
Question asked about child pornography at 27.30 -39.57 didnt answer the question talked utter nonsense sh it for 12 minutes..guys guilty as hell. He could have said people can read all about it on the internet yet he talked nonsense for 12 minutes
He explained it, too: there's chance of internet edits that could incriminate him etc. And read about it on internet WHERE exactly? Do you trust people's searching skill these days with all the misinformation and disinformation? :) #doyourownresearch hah hah!
@@barstukken6909 well he did say he had nothing and the discovery was exaggerated by the media. Metal Sucks is a woke warrior outlet so of course they ran with that narrative. I think his marriage would’ve been divorced or ended if he was guilty of CP, right?
I like the parts of these interviews where the musicians talk about real shit, Dagon talking about needing to keep it down when recording music, Azaghal talking about how he’s not a very good musician, Tom G’s views etc. Seems strange but also inspiring in a way. Nobody in black metal wants to be a fucking rock star. Almost everyone still has a day job. People play black metal because the world hath fucking commanded them to make black metal.
Thank you and I also agree: it's interesting to hear what makes them tick and what kind of things they have to do in order to make the music happen also. That's one of my main reasons to do these interviews. To make myself and others understand how metal is done.

Great interview Rauta even with a few beers ! Some interesting thoughts on production. And about the elephant, I think he managed to answer some of the questions without any questions really being answered. Oddly enough! Edit; What I meant was that the answers was, under the surface actually pretty clear 🙃.
I admire your bravery to bring up the matter of the legal issues attributed to him and to that - his willingness to front it; but he really didn't say anything and was mostly filibustering. I understand he likely doesn't have immunity from incriminating himself by merely acknowledging a fact.
Arguably one of the best Black Metal bands of all time, if not thee best. Name another band in the genre that has put out so many consistently good albums as inquisition.
Inquisition is such an outstanding band. I hate to say band, because all the musicianship seems to be pure spirituality. I know it is music and it is black metal but there is more, so I feel just to say band is a reduction from what it really is.
I got a feeling that Jerry really likes Inquisition. Dagon seems like down to earth type of guy. Great interview as usual Jerry. Little bit more info that Azazel gaved. 😎
I think his shirt is a reference to American radio host Art Bell who had a show called Coast To Coast AM where he covered subjects like bigfoot, aliens, the occult, and government coverups. He has a big cult following with a lot of metal heads and and horror fans.
The metal community has no right to judge anyone. Case in point: Varg murders Euronymous, no one cares; Mayhem's career is fine. Faust murders random gay man, no one cares, Emperor's career is fine. Jon from Dissection murders yet ANOTHER random gay dude, no one cares. Dissection's career is fine. Oh, but what's this? Dagon looks at some naughty pictures on the internet, he's the worst guy EVER and his career should go up in flames. If that's the moral compass of the metal "community" maybe someone can tell me where I can tender my resignation, because that's not the type of community I want to be a part of. Regardless of Dagon's guilt or innocence though, it shouldn't matter. You should be able to separate GREAT art from the artist.
Black Metal has a rich turbulent history that is written in blood and fire, there' s no denying that, the heretical tribulations, the church burnings, the rivality and murders, whatever on who' s preferred side one stood in those days, it' all firmly shaped black metal as an powerful and dangerous movement, the sublime soundtrack of Ragnarok, that lay waste the world! Stop this goship vermin and make black metal dangerous again!
@@wimbrokaar1806 I second that. If church burnings made a comeback, that would be cool with me, there were some a few years go. Hipster Black Metal has been hard at work promoting non-PC Black Metal. A lot of NSBM and the like is making a comeback.
@@sullivanknoth6430 Yes, I agree with you, that a atavistic comeback of church burnings doesn' t have same the heroic impact nowadays, as in those period of time, Although it s also fine by me when it fiercely stirs up again. But what I actually mean to make black metal powerful and dangerous again, is an feral upgrading of it's draconian ethos, unshaken and unapologetic combative as ever, not given in, or even to be domesticated by those infiltrated new tendencies and standards, set up by hipsters, pc adepts..ect. To remain steadfast and loyal to your ideas, motivations and ideals, whatever the current social climate or general acceptation s herin, to manifest a faustian vision of his own ! ( Well, that just my vision of how black metal should expanded in the confines of reality, shred it again)
@Sullivan Knoth Bill Cosby and R. Kelly would like to hire you unto their legal teams. Oh wait, they don’t make “great art” so that principle doesn’t apply to them. Got it.
The thing with Rauta interviews is that it's not soulless. Questions like "what do you think of blah blah so far? What's the meaning of the latest album?"
Inquisition was for a very long time one of my favorites black metal bands. Imo, Dagons voice in early inquisition was fucking sick. But after all the scandal about dagon, i just couldn't listen to it anymore, to this day. This video came up as a suggestion, and I took a look. He didn't convinced me, at all...
@@RautaMetal those crimes are MUCH different than what Dagon pleaded to. Guys who murder other guys during a physical tangle usually get street cred when going into the slammer. A person accused of sex crimes do not, quite the contrary in fact.

Thank you. I think those so-called critical questions are vital to interesting interviews. :)
Many thanks to the Rauta team and especially Jerry, thanks to him I learned a lot about the personality of Dagon and the Inquisition band. Thanks friends for your perfect work !
Thanks for your words! Appreciated.
Really glad you guys delved into the vocals, it's the one thing that always put me off. Hearing the reasoning behind why they are that way somehow makes it more palatable. Really enjoyed this one, Rauta. Respects from Australia.
Thanks mate!
Such a great interview, like others said, hard to find an interview where Dagon laughs, and in the other side, good questions/answers from both.
Thank you!
Hell yes! I've been waiting for the second half of this interview. Just woke up a few minutes ago and this was the first video on my feed.
19:25 that explains Don't Break the Oath to my ears. the dry guitar tone of that album turned me off for years when I was a teenager. until I focused on elements that deserved the constant praise over the decades.
The Vocals make it Inquisition. They are amazing
Thanks for this interview, bit of a scoop I think. Appreciated hearing things from Jason's perspective. Still one of my favorite bands. Looking forward to the new album. Peace.
Dagon’s Vocals are Awesome. He explained them as an “unseen dark entity” once. They sound like nobody else.
Except granny :)
Muchas gracias! Very nice to hear this. Let's hope some day we will have Incubus for talks too!
@@RautaMetal Looking forward to that!
Actually, would be kinda cool to hear a rerecording of that album, even though I love it how it is.
nefarious dismal orations is by far the best album...
So is he saying that the files were just labeled horrible CP? Like it wasn’t CP but the file had a CP title? I’m confused. I don’t want it to be real but I also want to know the truth. And doing my best to get to the truth with actual evidence.
Damn Rauta you just had a rare interview w/ Myrkskog now this in depth one w/Inquisition. 🏆🥇🏅🤘
I am lucky to feature such interesting people.
What a interview man, I really enjoyed it! Dagon is such an amazing guy and I really wanted a interview like this🤘🏻
Glad you liked it!
You mean aside from the cp?
Probably so.
Dagon understood black metal better the 99% of black metal bands thats why his band is amazing
Exactly!!
Rauta, be sober when doing interviews & let your interviewer speak towards completion of thier thoughts. Love you Man. \m/ 999
Right!?
There were several parts during this entire interview where Dagon was appearing to be dealing with the "town drunk" 😂
Like:
"Hey man! You're in a metal band!? Metal is cool!!! I wanna tell you about the time.."... 😂
All good 😎🤘
Fuck that! Why wouldn't Rauta get drunk at Steelfest? C'mon man!
Drunk Rauta is a charming guy.
Thx
I really like the fact that Rauta is a little drunk because it allows him to ask questions more spontaneously, "with his guts" you could say, and Dagon's answers are absorbing! An interview I will re-watch several times for sure. Hail Inquisition!
Thanks. Sometimes being a bit tipsy helps. Sometimes not. This is metal.
the more hammered Rauta is... the better the interview.
:D How does that, tho, explain Tom G Warrior interview? One of my best and I don't think I had a single beer before that.
@@RautaMetal all your work is amazing but this interview is on another level ! I love it .
Thanks mate! 🍻
@@RautaMetal yes do interviews the way Craig Ferguson did. and people will pay attention, because no one else is doing that.
Unfortunately I don't know who that is.
Dagon is such a well-spoken and intelligent guy. It's a sheer pleasure to watch this interview. So, I'm gonna listen to Inquisition now that I'm finished with the interview ;)
Cheers!
People are very open in ur interviews. That's a rare sighting. Maybe another interview with infernus of gorgoroth.
Thanks, I think so too. I have asked Gorgoroth at Inferno, but Host (of Taake and Gorgoroth) said that it's not likely because Infernus doesn't really do those.
@@RautaMetal Please do your best to land an interview with Niklas Kvarforth. That would be fucking awesome!
That possibility has been Discussed.
@@RautaMetal Hey Jerry...when did you interview Infernus? Couldn't find it on your channel just now.
Never did. See my comment above. 😕
Thank you for the interview Rauta \m/
My pleasure
Killer band. He sure rambles a lot, though.🤘
Great insight, loved hearing many aspects dissected!
Thank you.
I will always listen to Inquisition, but Dagon totally failed to address the subject of the whole CP thing and just waffled a load of crap.
I think he explained well why he had to go through it like this.
Part 2 was even better. Also props to you for asking that question. You helped him set the record straight. Your the one guy who has to do it.
Thanks. That question has to be tackled. Not everyone is happy about the answer but what we gonna do.
Man....Rauta. how did you feel about his answers and his demeanor on that issue? Do you feel like he is a predator?
The way he acted and answered screamed guilt to me
I felt the contrary.
@@RautaMetal I did some more research on this and I trust you and your judgment and I am a huge fan of his work and yours as well..I hope that he can move past what the slanderous fucks at metal sucks did to him..thanks and take care
One of the greatest interview about black metal ever. Rauta is king. Greetings from Belgium
Thank you! Appreciated
Really like the fact of how genuinely passionate Dagon is about his art and art in general. Great interview, so thanks both Dagon and Jerry! \,,/
Cheers!
This band is all good in BM back then and especially nowadays!
@@Abyssaeon lol I’m not reading that mountain of spiel, have a nice day 🤣
Any chance you will be interviewing Dagon (or Incubus) again in the future? I hope there will be another one of this! If so, could you ask him what Amp Setup he used on the first three albums? Dying to know that. Cheers and keep up the good work!
Hail the Ancient Cult! ⚔
Maybe. Who knows. But gotta focus on bands I have not yet interviewed.
@@RautaMetal bull sh it he didnt explain anything he waffled on for 12 minutes
If you say so. Let’s just assume then that part didn’t get recorded and only I heard him saying that.
Well the sad thing is: He could just have said „it is all a lie and therefore I was not sentenced“. Just on point answer.
@@barstukken6909 well he did say he had nothing and the discovery was exaggerated by the media. Metal Sucks is a woke warrior outlet so of course they ran with that narrative. I think his marriage would’ve been divorced or ended if he was guilty of CP, right?
Very deep interview. Thanks!
Dagon Have A Beautiful Personality....I love Inquisition...Great Band....Great Musicians...Will Always Love You Guys...And A Very Nice Interview...!!
Thank you. Did you watch both parts?
To make myself and others understand how metal is done.
awesome interview Rauta. such a underrated channel
Thanks!
one of my favourite interviews!
Thanks!
Inquisition is my favorite BM band,. Jason keep giving us great riffs and great music.

I can’t wait to see Inquisition live, the band that got me into black metal
Great interview Rauta even with a few beers ! Some interesting thoughts on production. And about the elephant, I think he managed to answer some of the questions without any questions really being answered. Oddly enough!
Edit; What I meant was that the answers was, under the surface actually pretty clear 🙃.
Think the same here... Weird
Well, he answers all the questions in an extensive way and legal things are not super simple.
@@RautaMetal Yes it's definitely not an easy topic to answer for, to say the least. Thanks for having the guts to ask the question.
My pleasure. I love hard / good questions.
Hail the Cult!
I admire your bravery to bring up the matter of the legal issues attributed to him and to that - his willingness to front it; but he really didn't say anything and was mostly filibustering. I understand he likely doesn't have immunity from incriminating himself by merely acknowledging a fact.
Thanks. Well, yeah, legal matters are a tough cookie to talk about, for the reasons you mentioned.
One of the best vocalists in black metal in my opinion!! I love it
Excellent excellent interview, you’re my hero. A lot to process there in his answer to the “mean” question, lol
Thanks!
Arguably one of the best Black Metal bands of all time, if not thee best. Name another band in the genre that has put out so many consistently good albums as inquisition.
Darkthrone, Marduk and Bathory for me def :) I'm not a big fan of early Inquisition, but their later albums are good.
Awesome interview. Dagon is well spoken.
Rauta: 33:11 "We will not be editing this one..."
((two seconds later))
*CUT*
Joking! Good interview.
That also gave me a chuckle.
Heh, my editor was asked to do a hard task and we don't communicate accurately what and where. So, these things happen. :)
@@RautaMetal no need to explain, Rauta. We know what you meant were you were telling Dagon you wouldn’t edit the footage. Great interview!
Cheers
Inquisition is such an outstanding band. I hate to say band, because all the musicianship seems to be pure spirituality. I know it is music and it is black metal but there is more, so I feel just to say band is a reduction from what it really is.
Good one! Your interviews are the best!
Thank you!
Inquisition fuckin rules.
Thanks for this interview

I got a feeling that Jerry really likes Inquisition. Dagon seems like down to earth type of guy. Great interview as usual Jerry. Little bit more info that Azazel gaved. 😎

This part 2 is great too!!!666!!!
What is the band on his shirt? Is it "Bell"? Looks to me like there's a spaceship landing and some cavemen. Anyone got a link?
Bell - on Bandcamp
I think his shirt is a reference to American radio host Art Bell who had a show called Coast To Coast AM where he covered subjects like bigfoot, aliens, the occult, and government coverups. He has a big cult following with a lot of metal heads and and horror fans.
I wondered the same.
@ Paulus - ua-cam.com/video/fQAgz5u2YZk/v-deo.html
Bell is his ambient/electronic side project
I am still confused on his answer to the legal shit. I almost fell asleep.
To sum it up: they didn't find him guilty (at least enough to send him to prison).
Exactly. And if one has served his time according to justice system, that individual is then done with the thing.
@Sullivan Knoth
Bill Cosby and R. Kelly would like to hire you unto their legal teams. Oh wait, they don’t make “great art” so that principle doesn’t apply to them. Got it.
Fantastic interview, Rauta!
Thank you!

Well, he has served his time, no? I mean, do you skip Emperor, Burzum, Dissection for similar reasons?
@@RautaMetal those crimes are MUCH different than what Dagon pleaded to. Guys who murder other guys during a physical tangle usually get street cred when going into the slammer. A person accused of sex crimes do not, quite the contrary in fact.
Ofc. But that has very little to do with the justice system.
