    This interview with Dagon(Jason) is your best so far this year, even rivaling the one you did with Tom Warrior. It sounded so natural, like a normal conversation between two close friends. Hail Rauta! Hail Inquisition! \m/🔥🔥🔥

    I have to respectfully disagree on the vocals part - they are not boring at all. They are quite interesting actually, hard to perform and also complement the music Dagon writes ideally. Frankly, I can't imagine other types of vocal singing for his style of music.

    Interesting interview as always Rauta. I followed Inquistion's career quite closely up until around the time the controversy started. Was interesting to hear from Dagon's side but have to say it sounded pretty unconvincing overall. A lot of dancing around the issue and a lot of words but no real explanation.

      What does he need to explain though? All of the stuff that happened is public record and was readily available. It just took a decade for a clickbait site to find it. He doesn't owe anyone anything.
      It'll never not be hilarious that Season of Mist dropped Inquisition yet they're still selling all their albums (including their latest album!) and a whole lot of t-shirts.

      @@mandu6665 oh I dunno, he seems to have differing views on the facts of the case and what was found and why he felt the need to try and delete whatever it was from his computer seemed kind of sketch. Said he was ok to discuss it with Rauta then proceeded to dance around the topic for 5 mins until the topic was changed. He doesn't owe me anything but from my point of view he looks pretty sketchy and I won't be putting my money into any of his further ventures.

    Hail from Michigan USA! All the respect in the world for Dagon for being so candid. I don't have Facebook anymore because it's trash but when I did I wrote him about the whole shitty thing and he was very polite and candid with me as well. All the support man. He paid his debt to society and doesn't owe anyone an explanation for anything! We all have skeletons in our closet and it's unfair that artist are held to a higher standard than the rest of us. I even got harassed on FB because I refused to disown Inquisition. People even called ME a p-word. Because people are DUMB. They don't understand life let alone true fucking black metal. Inquisition changed my life and I owe them a great debt. Their music is transcendent and ethereal. I love Dagon's vocals. People who don't love it don't get it, and that's the beauty of it- they don't have to get it.

    • @RautaMetal
      @RautaMetal  2 роки тому +9

      I fully agree with you: he paid his debt to society, as the justice system saw it happen. I find it hilarious/ironic that ppl have hard time listening to Inquisition because of this yet are cool to listen to Dissection, Mayhem, Burzum who did more heinous crimes (even if they served their time as well, tho). Whatever Dagon did, in my eyes he is OK!
      It's good that you got rid of those toxic people.

      Nowadays it's almost a necessary evil, to choose your words very carefully and well thoughted, when confronted with such toxic accusations, which aren't even empirically proven, one wrong interpreted word can be selectively incaspulated from the whole expansive context/ explanation, causing an upset of trouble and slander shooting from the backstabbers, as prejudice framing is the operative norm nowadays, therefore Dagon elaborated this confronfronted issue in the whole conversation thoroughly wisefull, didn' t feed the opportunistic vultures!

    Also id like to add. When y'all brought up the tuning discussion. I'm actually happy with the fact that most black metal stays in standard E tuning. It makes doing covers so much more easy. I'm not having to constantly switch up the tuning on my guitar when going from song to song when I get in those moods.

    So basically, what he was accused of and what he was convicted of ended up being two very different things. There certainly was something illegal in his possession considering he took a plea deal, but it was obviously something not so drastic otherwise he would have ended up in jail for life. And considering those events happened about 15 years ago, it looks like he has since then shown to be a rehabilited person without any legal issues.

    Good interview. what I take away:
    -Dagon has an insecurity about himself. The over-analyzation is due to this along with the arrested/scattered talking.
    -The legal issues he had. He isn’t exactly clear on this. But I think I can interpret it two ways:
    -There was illegal material but not at the very young ages one would assume
    -There wasn’t illegal material, but it was material made to emulate such
    Either way, I think the bigger takeaway from his situation is the results of giving into his feelings of lust. To go down the slope, more and more extreme. Obviously, he had a pornography problem. I know musicians in these genres can have these attitudes of taking things to the extreme and no limits, etc. But, there are repercussions for these things.
    I don’t think his explanation will assuage anyone that has doubts about him. It was vague and open to interpretation and I think that’s the way he wants it.

    • @RautaMetal
      @RautaMetal  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the comment. Whatever it is, it's in the past now. And yeah, porn can be a slippery slope. For some it's just to vent out (which is healthy anyway), for some it's an obsession. Then again sometimes ppl collect stuff without being obsessed. Some ppl, I am told, even buy shitty albums.

    What a great interview. You see Dagon thinking and trying to find the right words and the right story for an answer on many of the questions. I see and listen to a thinker, sure he may ramble but hey it is an interview/conversation. This is not Ted talk or any other speech addressed with an agenda or a goal. It’s a dialogue and it came out rather honest and organic. Which allows people to know the person behind the artist.
    As for the “question” asked. Kudos to Rauta for taking it for the team and giving in to the “pressure” of the common people.
    The short answer is: Dagon answered to experts in law, and to the system of his country and whatever he did or did not do he has been judged for it by the system.
    A system of justice is set in place to help society and individuals move forward, hopefully not to punish and send them into oblivion.
    Strangely enough, some people think that they can log in to their computers and run their mouth about someone, without even having access to facts. And on top of that wanting to play judge, lawyer, executioner, etc.
    Freedom of speech is a right we have in the US and getting a good education is also a right. The more educated you are the better your opinions and judgments of things may be. Dagon touches on a very good point by highlighting how easy may be for some people to just go ahead and unleash their frustrations online, criticizing others or whatever. I wonder how many of these people who run their mouth could actually hold an office working for the government.

    • @RautaMetal
      @RautaMetal  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks for your comment, truly appreciating that. Indeed, I prefer my interviews more like organic conversations vs the typical question & answer kind of thing with preplanned questions. I get it: my style is not for everybody, but brings me joy to hear a lot of ppl can like this style I do.
      And when it comes to this question about his time in court etc: I don't honestly think anyone in the metal scene could give a better answer than he did. Like said, legal matters are not easy and secondly, ppl indeed could try to falsify the answer with cut-and-edit tactics to serve their agenda. He has done his trial in the court of law and justice system. And we should accept it.

      I think Dagon should simply have said something like: “There is a world of difference between accusation and proof. I was found *not guilty*, despite investigators having two years to destroy my life if they had anything. I served no time, but mud sticks, thanks especially to the Jewish tourists at MetalCucks. And the fact that we are even discussing this resuscitates the bottom feeders who would otherwise starve from a settled private matter.” I find it unfortunate that the subject even arose, because it’s all certain people are going to take away from what was otherwise a very interesting and enlightening interview.

    • @Abyssaeon
      @Abyssaeon 2 роки тому +1

      @@XX-sy4rs It’s not immature - it’s a simple fact, and it is relevant to their particular vendetta. Ben Umanov and Matt Goldenberg are Jews, which is why they launched this particular cancel crusade against Inquisition in the first place. Did you not read the first pitiful article they published? It was all about “Nazism”. One glance tells you these bespectacled weaklings are typical latecomer tourists and bottom feeders. This personal grudge got the band thrown off tours I attended, even before MS dredged these other ancient allegations out. They were clearly peeved that no one (except middlemen, promoters, etc.) cared enough about their tribal sensitivities in the underground, so they kept digging for anything that might harm the band’s deserved success and momentum. No true Metal devotee would label his endeavor “MetalSucks”. Typical Brooklyn hipster infiltrator shit. The fact that Dagon granted any time to the subject whatsoever is frankly incredible, but like he said - how many hours does Rauta *really* want to devote to unraveling the subject (which Dagon is surely sick to death of)? The investigation took two years. Can you summarize two years in one word? And furthermore, do the kind of people who are still fixated on the matter truly deserve additional time and energy, when they’ve already demonstrated that they’re not actually interested in anything but an admission of guilt? If they haven’t heard a denial, they’re not listening. The “Nazi” accusation was the real gripe. The rest is selective moral outrage, and the proof is who and what they ignore versus who and what they hunt down.

Faust murders random gay man, no one cares, Emperor's career is fine. Jon from Dissection murders yet ANOTHER random gay dude, no one cares. Dissection's career is fine. Oh, but what's this? Dagon looks at some naughty pictures on the internet, he's the worst guy EVER and his career should go up in flames. If that's the moral compass of the metal "community" maybe someone can tell me where I can tender my resignation, because that's not the type of community I want to be a part of.
