  • The Jerome Deportation of 1917 was a significant labor conflict where 67 striking miners, predominantly Mexican and European immigrants, were forcibly removed from Jerome, Arizona, by vigilantes and abandoned in the harsh desert of Needles, California. This event underscored the intense struggles between labor and capital during World War I, highlighting the miners' fight for better working conditions and fair treatment.

I would like to thank the staff both at the Jerome Historical Society Mine Museum, along with the Jerome State Historic Park. I appreciate the time they took with my endless questions. If you are lucky to visit Jerome, don't hesitate to stop by both museums.
