@@JessicaSavano Constantinople (today's Istanbul) was the capital of Byzantine Empire which was Greek after it divided from West Roman Empire. Byzantium was created by Bizas, he was from Megara, near Athens. The Byzantines had to face constant wars with Arabs, Bulgarians, Turks (after 1071). The battle for the church icons lasted 150 years dividing people. The church schisma of Catholics and Orthodox (1054) alianated the Greek Orthodox from the Catholics and some years later we have the first Turkish invasion. Then we take back the lands, we brought the Italian crusaders to help. The West was busy with its own problems and gave the chance for muslims to invade and transform the Orthodox Venice to a caliphate. Turks were jealous of byzantine princes, converted to muslims and started being obsessed about taking the Byzantine Greek lands.

I was in Athens two weeks ago. It's not a bad city. Lots of history and good food. But honestly, not a patch on Roma.

And there is a difference between Truth and Fact. Truth is relative, your truth cannot be my truth. That's why there's always different religions, opinions and beliefs. They all claim to have the Truth. Fact, on the other hand, can be proven and replicated. Like the chemical composition of water, or 1+1=2. It can be proven. However, it's up to the person to accept it. Like if the earth is round or flat. Or the sun or the earth is the center of the solar system.
