in 1993 there was the year of the Korg 01/W and Roland JV1000 but Ensoniq TS10 was more cinematic and lush sounding but lost due to lack of marketing power and global distribution. Only discerning composers and sound designers bought the TS10 and the difference stood out in their work. Film Soundtracks, Documentaries and ambient music tracks.. underrated and underappreciated genius of a synthesizer
True, it doesn't get the recognition it deserves, sadly.. Thanks for watching ;-)
I think the Kurzweil K2000 came out in 1993, but maybe that was 1992. Korg's O1/W came out in 1990 and the Floppy Drive unit came out in 1991. But I agree with you. Korg's marketing for the 01 was all over the place. Not a bad board for sure. There are many aspects of the 01 I just love. Never owned one, but I was close to getting one. They were very sexy in a lot of ways but I had a local dealer with a rep that turned me onto the Ensoniq SD-1. I wasn't a pop or rock guy and I needed something to help me compose and arrange concert band, marching band, jazz, and some orchestral stuff for my school and a few others. He played me the Stravinsky demo that was on the SD-1 and I was blown away. The SD-1 didn't look as sexy as the Korg but he sold me on the concept of how the Ensoniq worked. I bought it and then they sent the unit back to Malvern, PA so Ensoniq could update the OS to 32 voice and expand the Sequencer to 78,000 notes. I used that board for over a decade and loved it. Big mistake when I sold that machine.
I didn't buy the Ensoniq TS-10 because I already had the SD-1 (they were close but the TS was much more powerful). I did attend the TS-10 Demo that our local music retailer held and it was amazing. But you're right, Ensoniq did not have the marketing muscle that Korg. I truly felt the TS-10 was close or on par with the Kurzweil K2000 at the time. Deep programming capabilities.
@@jonathanwillis1143 nice.. SD 1 was overshadowed by the TS twins soon after.. One thing i realised is not to fall for marketing hype and take enough time to kick the tyres at dealerships or hanging around friendly jam gigs/ studios to finally understand the ones with true potential that suits you. Even now i see tons of montage/ kronos/ fantoms everywhere and realising they are almost interchangeable and no real distinguishing character makes me think twice about the choices to me made
Thanks for watching! ;-)
HIGHLLLY under-rated machine ! EXTREMELY underrated . . . yet such a BEASSST of an engineering against ALLLL the pop brands ! Wayyyyy ahead of its TIME ! i am so glad that you captured it in its True Glory :)
Thanks man!
Totally agree with that! 🙏🎹
In the 90s, when it came out, the TS-10 was an unaffordable dream for me. But fortunately it was always completely underrated, so in the early 2000s I got a brand new stock unit at a ridiculously low price. And here it still is, shining and giving me joy every day! 🙂
Definitely overlooked. It took 18 years for me to finally get one. Everyone is chasing ASR10s and missing the boat.
Absolutely! The Ensoniq doesn't get the recognition it truly deserves. While the ASR10s are great, there's a unique charm and power in the Ensoniq that many seem to miss out on. Glad you've discovered its potential after 18 years. Better late than never! 👍🎵
Dude this is superbly beautiful! Great Playing and camera shooting skills!
Thank you Michael for the kind words! I really appreciate it 🙏🎹✨
Besides the spectacular textures, I found your playing VERY interesting and immersive. Good to hear a demo with real musical substance... kudos! As a side note, I owned a TS-10 Plus some 20 years ago.
Thank you for the kind words Felipe! ;-)
I really appreciate it! 🙏✨🎹
Fantastic videos! Thanks!
Ensoniq TS i love you
We need Ensoniq team come back ❤️
@@eaglechildkeys sadly I can’t see that happening…. shame their sound cards were so successful in comparison to their synths(!), and Creative who were after this brand new tech/market space bought them out …. and broke ‘em 😢
We all do!
oh man..... melts like butter! That sound is a calm refresh for my soul!
Thank you very much! I appreciate it! 🙏🎹✨😃
i appreciated, and respected Ensoniq synths, but never bought one. i was more of a Korg/Roland person. for samplers, i used Akai, and E-MU products. thanks for posting this video, because even though i've probably heard similar sounds on records, i never knew where they came from.
Que espectacular sonaba, gracias por el video.
Gracias a ti! Un saludo! ✨🎶
Nice demo. I use to sell them and used one live back then. Out of all of the boards I used back then the TS was my main board because of it sounds, effects and the fantastic sequencer. I'm currently the proud owner of 4 TS-10s and will buy more when able. I also have a few other Ensoniqs. I will never sell them because nothing has anything close to their sound and I have always loved making and using hyperwave on them.
True. Nothing like Ensoniq. It's sound is very unique, I have never listened something similar in other synth ;-)
I owned a VFX once...great synth.
Now looking for TS 10 or 12...
Amazing 👏👏👏
Thank you! 😃
Great demo! like others you have! nice playing. I just got mine after 27 years of wait ... feels like a teen again!
Thank you! ;-) Awesome! Sure you have it in mint condition!
@@eaglechildkeys Working on it!!! just got the top C key, It was an incredible find. Thanks to you for your time doing great vids, I hope to hear the productions soon as well.
okie doke, managed to score a TS12 from its first owner who had it for all this time. Your video definitely didn't push me towards buying it 😂.
Splendido strumento! Complimenti! 😎🎹🎶🚀
Thank you! Grazie Vicenzo! 🙏✨
We made few songs out of these sounds in 1998, brilliant synthesizer.
Thanks for watching! ;-) I would love to listen those songs!
I own two TS12s, these are excellent keyboards, I mostly use the sequencer for a writing tool and practice friend.
There is no other synth with a similar sound like Ensoniq. Very underrated and unique ;-)
Between 1993 and 1996, every significant musician, producer and prospective wannabes within a 50 mile radius of Fayetteville NC had an Ensoniq in the fold. From Mirage to SD1 to VFX SD2 to ASR/EPS to SQ2 to the legendary TS10/12. Ensoniq brought something to the production space that demanded and continues to command respect for their products years after the demise of the company.
Oh I noticed I already liked this, of course.
Thank you Andy! 🙏🎹🎶✨
13:35 is that what I think it is? 😱
❤️👍🏾
What movie is that from?? I've been trying to figure it out.

Como posso ter acesso a estes timbres? É possível Download? E para transmissão no TS10, via Sysex?
The TS-10 is literally a massive instrument.... great sounds milled into an incredibly heavy and high quality metal casing. :-) The keybed alone is so very special in its pressure and repetition behavior - no other digital synthesizer from the 90s has as much character in my opinion!
Agree with that ;) And after the TS series , Ensoniq also came with the MR. series. That was one step further in built characteristics. Very heavy , but a pure tank with a very nice feeling keybed 👍
@Eaglechild In fact, I disassembled & cleaned the keybed once when my TS-10 had trouble to recognize it. A known issue of its age, that was fixed on my device by a service tech who replaced the controller chip for the keyboard. What I want to say is: *WOW* This is material quality! You don't find anything like this anymore.
Thank you! 💫🙏🎹🎶
Very smooth sounding synth, prefer it over many digital synths.
Hey Dado, sorry for the late reply man...
Yes, me too. Super underrated synth capable of a very atmospheric sounds!
There was a particular piano-pad sound that used to glitch in the effects. Never found out what it was... must have been a bug. But it drove me nuts that I wound up selling it 😢
Delicious
Thank you VA3JPX! 🎹🎶
Sounds like that infamous call waiting theme
Thanks for watching! Cheers! ;-)
Beautiful! Please can you do demo of Roland d 110? Thank you!
Thank you David! Sorry man…At the moment I don’t own any D110. If someone can borrow me one I will make a demo ;-)
hey ! this is so awesome, you did a really amazing job. i've been peeping a lot of your vids and you are absolutely killer at sound design, you make the exact type of stuff that i'm into. question: do you have advice on how i can make patches that have evolving layers on other equipment (jv1080, m1, etc), like the first patch? This synth sounds so nice and i want to try and make my own, not sure how to go about it without biting the bullet and buying one of these puppies. thanks!
Hey Brian! Thanks a lot man...! ;-)
If you are refeering to the PAD of the intro, maybe with 2 Saw waveforms detuned , cutoff filter at the minimum , and a bit of portamento, you can get something similar.
However I think that get the tone of the Ensoniq it's not easy in other synths. They had their unique sound and character! ;-)
It probably would’ve been wise move if I had opted to get one of these in the early 2000s when my fanaticism for the synthesizer really kicked in. I was getting a few different kinds of them during the first half of that decade, and this should’ve been one of them.
Hello, I missed the part where one could purchase this sound/patch collection? Thanks
highly matched otto-5506 and 5510. uLaw dirty PCM spec but It can make awesome sound forever.
mind melting, did you make these sounds ? how can i get them ? thanks great video !
Appreciate the feedback! I no longer have the Ensoniq, but those tones, to the best of my memory, were straight from the factory presets. Try to join also Ensoniq groups in Facebook, almost sure they have the sounds! Hope that helps, and thanks for watching! ;-)
Ensonik Legend
Thank you! ;)
Do you have any way to get these presets or were to download them? I own a ts 10 but i have very few of these ?
Great sound btw i love this machine
Hi Kozmotik,
Can you email me please? Maybe we can exchange sounds.
Chriskeyboards1984@ gmail com
Alas, you missed my fave, "Padillac" :)
Nice one ! congratz! Is this the factory stock sound or other ones?
Thank you Paul. Just Factory presets :-)
Awesome ! Do you think this synth can do what the SD-1 does or they are different ? Wondering which one to pick : )
Thank you Jean! Difficult to say, because I haven't explored both synths in deep, only the presets. However I felt the TS-10 has more movement in it's sounds. I would say is more Pad oriented machine :-)
@@eaglechildkeys thank you so much !
@@jfracine_composition By the way. I have another 2 demos of the SD-1 in my channel. Check them to listen their sounds (both are factory presets) So you can get an idea which one is better for your music style ;-))
@@eaglechildkeys currently listening to you sd-1 demo at the moment haha ! Cheers : )
Lovely playing, were these presets that came loaded in the TS10?
Thank you Ambientnauts! Yes, I think all are factory presets ;-)
Now they are forgotten, since Ensoniq had owned by Emu. And since Emu had bought by Creative Labs who produces massive SoundBlaster sound cards, they've gone.
True... E-mu also did very nice synths. Still I own my “Classic Keys” and soon Proteus 2000.
They will never be forgotten. There is this small circle of initiates who recognize the true value of these great instruments. For us, they are legends!
The Ensoniq Legend is never forgotten. Synth Pop and Hip Hop heads will keep its name spoken aloud everywhere because the instruments are relevant, incomparable, and essential even in 2023.
Is there a rack module version of this synth? Sounds beautiful
Unfortunately not! 😔 Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this video! I wonder if they are personally made patches or if they are standard, can you sell me a file containing these wonderful pads?
Thank you for your kind words! Unfortunately, I no longer have the TS ;-( I think all those sounds were pure factory presets.
However, you might find them in various Facebook Ensoniq groups. Best of luck! ;)
The TS10 sounds great, but the 01/W has combis which makes it shine. Does the TS10 have those too?
I'm not entirely sure, but I believe it does ;-)
👏👏🎹🎹👏👏👍
Thank you Werner! 🙏🎹🎶
Hola Giovany,
No , lo siento. Me vendí el TS10 para comprar nuevo equipo. Un saludo!
This is what the D-70 should have been, but Roland dropped the ball.
I really miss my TS-10.
Yes, I miss mine too.
They’ve should released a rack version of this synth, is really amazing.
I had to sell mine because of lack of space…
D70 is also a great synthesizer. Do not compare apples and oranges.
Sounds lush
Thank you Matthew! 🎶🎹✨
DId you make all of these pads yourself, or are they from a sound disk?
Hey BenKirb,
I think all are Factory presets ;)
@@eaglechildkeys Oh.
What movie soundtrack is at 13:35 ? It sounds really familiar.
Nightmare on Elm Street ;-)
@@eaglechildkeys Thank you!
E sobre os Pads, whats is the better, TS10 or k4?
@@Jackmotif Sin duda TS10 para PADS! ;-)

13:30 ++ Have a nice dream! 🎬🍿📼😴💤😱
Thanks for watching! ;-)
Are these the presets that come with the TS-10?
Yes, factory presets.
@@eaglechildkeys 😲
Are these factory sounds or are they patches built by you?
Factory presets :)
Are these pads available on disk ?
These demo sounds came preloaded with the synthesizer. I believe are factory presets.
That is the main problem with this keyboard. You don’t really play it. You can make great sounds for hours on end. Sometimes I don’t touch mine for a long time, because you really don’t want to play with it for only half an hour, you want to play it for hours.
Of course it is a work station, so you can compose, but you are only going to get one sound at a time, unless you add some track recorder.
I love people who can program and sequence. I just don’t have that kind of time. But I am still happy I bought my TS 10. It was a lot of money back then. They also had a short when they first came out, which made them inoperable. Other than a long drive to bring it back and to drive back to pick it up, not too bad. Ensoniq had quite the history back in the day, with some famous musicians.
I'm selling my TS-12 if anybody's interested. Just got a TS-10 to take its place.😁
I’m interesed
@@sgr895sorry, already sold!
