Honestly, I couldn’t be happier that they introduced Rauru and Sonia. After seeing Zelda constantly get beaten down by her Father for “not trying hard enough”, she ended up meeting these two who gave her so much love and respect.
Rhoam was feeling a lot of pressure about the Calamity prophecy. He hated treating Zelda like that but as King he had to put his love for his daughter aside for the future of Hyrule. It wasn't the best way to handle it and ultimately was in vain. It's really tragic.

King Rhoam never called Zelda a failure. He said that everyone else believes that. And I wouldn’t throw him under the bus. He was putting his father part on the side to be king due to the prophecy of the calamity. @@skelemama I've heard her around, especially in Fire Emblem. It was easyish to tell her voice, when she spoke, because she used "motherly" voice that she used for Rhea from Three Houses. She has two voices I know of, that raspy-ish cute voice and that lower motherly voice.
I'm most familiar with Cherami from her roles as Mae from Shadows of Valentia, Rhea from Three Houses, and Makoto from Persona 5. This time it was easy due to the similarity of how she voiced Queen Sonia to Rhea.

It is almost symbolic to how when the verse changes in the original song, it displays the change Zelda went through to become an immortal dragon.
So here's my understanding of the timeline based on what this game is giving us: -The Zelda from Skyward Sword goes to the surface and has kids, eventually reaching to her descendant, Sonia. -Sonia meets Rauru and the two found the Hyrule kingdom, becoming the first king and queen. -At some point, Rauru and Sonia get freaky off screen, starting their bloodline, which eventually reaches to BOTW Zelda. -At some point, Demise is reborn as the earliest known incarnation of the Gerudo king, Ganondorf, who plots to take over Hyrule. -Ganondorf approaches to Rauru and Sonia, declaring an allegiance, but they know he's full of shit. -Ganondorf manages to kill Sonia and take the Secret Stone, becoming the Demon King and amasses his army. -Rauru puts together the original Seven Sages and attempts to beat Ganondorf, kicking off the original Imprisoning War. -Rauru and the Sages die but not before Rauru manages to sacrifice himself to seal Ganondorf away. -Many years later, a new incarnation of Ganondorf is born and attempts to do the same thing in Ocarina of Time, this time seeking the Triforce. -This Ganondorf is either beaten by the Hero of Time or sealed away by the Seven Sages, kicking off the three respective timelines. Since then, Hyrule's foundation and the events that would follow since have long passed to the point that they're considered ancient myths and legends, up until BOTW Link and Zelda discover the mummified corpse of the original Ganondorf from that time, kicking off the events of TOTK.

He literally try to invade the kingdom💀 on top of that he literally was also extremely shady and showed no remorse or care for anyone. It was easy to tell he was thirsty for power lol. Not to mention They are gods… nothing gets past them. And Sonja can sense emotions and feelings in others.
Remember the franchise's lore: The Zonai and the ancient Hylians were supposed to be able to hear the messages of the gods, due to their much longer ears. It's possible that they could pick up on more subtle hints. Besides, it isn't as though Ganondorf's vibes WEREN'T particularly menacing. Zelda doesn't know yet that the man she and Link encountered below the castle is the same man who's claiming to swear fealty; she only has his name as a troubling hint. Ten thousand years is a LONG time. She couldn't be sure that they were one and the same just yet.
To be fair, rauru even says he doesn't know what hyrule was like before. Very little of the very first zonai interaction on hyrule is known about. For all we know, totk could be a million years after OOT and wind wakers great flood, the original zonai could've come down sometime after that, and then rauru/sonias founding of hyrule, God knows how long to the original calamity in botw's sheika prophecy, and then the further 10k years from that to botw. It feels the zelda team made these two games so aggressively far into the future, thar really the time before hand doesn't matter, because we don't know how much time happened in between totk and say skyward sword. We don't know the gazillion events that have probably happened from then to know. We don't even know anymore if they even existed, or whether this is a spin off timeline set off different events completely. This is probably going to be my only aggravation with this game. We asked nintendo to give us further timeline placement clues, and they said "who the fuck knows". It's still a 10/10 game figuring thar is legit my only real complaint
@@Elite02kI agree that I think they intended to send this so far into the future that the events of prior games are somewhat disconnected; that Hyrule had likely been disestablished then re-established by R&S, but these cutscenes also pose a weird dilemma for Zelda. 1. In BoTW the Hylians are aware of the Legends of the Sky, Time, and Twilight (see Link's ceremony for proof of that). 2. Where was the Master Sword in this past Hyrule? If this predates SS then Ganondorf predates Demise creating the dilemma of what his curse means. 3. Sonia mentions she senses a blood connection, yet we never see a child from them. Unless they've got an offscreen child, that'd kinda complicate the whole "Zelda is our descendant" thing. I suppose Nintendo may have answers that aren't in cutscenes that I'll be able to see when I get free from work, but as it is now these cutscenes are all I've got lol
@@StarzGecko I had thought about it some and they probably just have a child off screen, or Sonia had a sibling who inherited after she and Rauru passed away She is counted as a descendant because they're a part of the same clan (although the likelihood of that isn't exactly great). No one said the dragons WERE the Golden Goddesses; until that actually gets outright stated, there is no reason to assume. They are supposed to SERVE the Goddesses. Perhaps they were priestesses, or some other type of individual, who each served their respective Goddess, and the best way for them to do so was to become the dragons. Just as the Monks remained in their Shrines for thousands of years in order to test Link, that being the best way for them to serve Hylia.
@@hyliadreamer I don’t think any old priestess would have had a secret stone, much less three of them. I honestly don't think the developers care for the Triforce at all anymore. Probably see it as a hindrance to their storytelling. If it was up to them it would probably be long gone by now. They keep it around purely for fanservice reasons.
Am I the only one who feels bad for those moldugas? I love when Zelda uses the Sheikah tech to warp herself, Rauru, and Sonia away from ganondorf. The zonai get saved by the sheikah. It's also nice to see Nintendo quietly confirm that the hole in Hebra peak was created by Vah Medoh because its absent in these memories. The dueling peaks are also one mountain as well.
Okay, so if I get this right: Ganondorf becomes so powerful that he infects the land with his "Gloom" (or Malice?). He infects one of the sages. Zelda decides, "We need to boost the power of the Master Sword, so I'll become a Dragon", and the other Zonai gal says "Yep, I'll do the same". If I got this right, infected Zonai gal turns into infected Dragon we save in the first Breath of the Wild? Which would possibly mean that the fire Dragon was the Goron who ate his stone too... and the electric Dragon might be the bird guy? Okay, but then they never truly stopped Ganon, so he just keeps creating monsters and attempts to take over the kingdom as he slumbers? So, with the Zonai gone, the "Sheikah" repurpose their technology and make the Guardians, presumably the towers, and even the secondary set of shrines to empower Link. But, Ganon figures out how the tech works and takes it over in Breath of the Wild... and does nothing with it. Presumably, because he isn't "free" yet. But, being trapped underground would likely explain why there are basically no caves in Hyrule in Breath of the Wild. The kingdom has likely been going around and sealing them whenever possible to keep Ganon trapped. Otherwise, the Gloom might sneak out and Ganon might find a way to escape. So, the entirety of Breath of the Wild was Link and Zelda just taking out Ganon's defenses. Ganon defending himself from future Link who could have the power to kill him permanently, as warned by Rauru. But, then... we show up, wake him up by accident, and he is surprised we're so weak? But.. how come not all the Zonai stuff ended up in the sky? How did the 3 temples to the Triforce pieces get made? Does this then bleed into Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past where we're talking about sages? How does Zelda even get born if Sonia died before ever having a child? What is Link's heritage? Obviously there wasn't a "Link" analogue in the time of the Zonai, so when did that come up?
The sages never became dragons, they were still alive after Zelda turned herself into a dragon. As for the Mineru, we have yet to learn, at least I am not that far into the story yet. Naydra is unlikely to be Mineru, considering that neither makes plot sense nor fit her abilities. The dragons might be even before the sages or just incarnations of the 3 goddess’ powers

Then Zelda eats her time stone to become a dragon, then link gets the time stone in the present visiting the temple of time, and then Ganondorf eats his time stone to become a dragon as well. So there are 3 times stones….
No, there are only 7 secret stones, 4 given to each tribe Gerudo, Goro, Rito and Zora, the King had one, the Queen another one and the sister of the King had the last. The stones enhances the power that any individual has naturally. For the Gerudo is lighting/thunder, Goro is Fire, Rito is wind, Zora is water. The King had Light/Sacred power, the Queen had time and the sister of the king had the power to manipulate her spirit. Zelda, who took the sacred stone of the King IN THE FUTURE, had Sacred power and time but the stone choose to bring out time (If i had to guess, it's because her sacred power is already max out and her time powers are weaker). Ganondorf stole the sacred stone of the queen which made it enhance his Malice powers. So there are 7 Stones, their powers just change depending on the user. TOTK seems to take place so long after the other games that Hyrule was founded a second time. This is very interesting, since we know there was history before the second founding of Hyrule. As we get multiple references to other games, especially Ocarina of Time, a game that also houses the kingdom of Hyrule, and a game which already had things well established before TOTK. My assumption is that so much time passed that Hyrulians began to forget about parts of the past, and began to start anew, which is why the characters in the past in this game look so ancient and old fashioned, although they come after games with characters that look more advanced than them. (Minus all the tech stuff.) With this, we can draw a conclusion that after some time passed, Hyrule began to start anew, which is how everything seemed to reset in a way. This reset also explains why Ganondorf's demon form resembles Demise so much. This game might be the furthest in the timeline, but it also tells the story of this duology's beginning. A beginning independent to that of Skyward Sword.
This theory makes so much sense rather than calling Totk a "reboot" if we want to connect it with the old games, but I wonder what event caused the first hyrule to be forgotten and start a new? 😞

I love the fact that it’s now Zelda’s turn to be the link between ages! 😁
So here's my understanding of the timeline based on what this game is giving us:
-The Zelda from Skyward Sword goes to the surface and has kids, eventually reaching to her descendant, Sonia.
But, I can't understand how the ganondorf reborn in Ocarina of Time if him was seal in beneath Hyrule Castle.

@@cj2580j I'd assume that, since he remains unconscious but is still able to spread his evil across Hyrule, he was able to reincarnate himself into a different Ganondorf.

My theory is that Sonia and Rauru *refounded* Hyrule after the timeline splits, since the imprisoning war takes place in the "hero is defeated" timeline. @@homosapien7316 That can't be the case. The Imprisoning War can't be the same one that occurs in the Downfall timeline because in that one, Ganondorf is sealed away in the Dark World, until he manages to break free from the seal in A Link to the Past.

Just as the Monks remained in their Shrines for thousands of years in order to test Link, that being the best way for them to serve Hylia.
@@hyliadreamer Nothing wrong with them assuming or theorizing, would make sense.
@@hyliadreamer I don’t think any old priestess would have had a secret stone, much less three of them. The fact that all three share similarities in name to the goddesses, the fact that the Zonai are compared to gods, and the Zonai-aligned features of the dragons tells me most of what I need to know.
Does Zelda still have feelings for Link after Breath of the Wild?
Yeah actually the entire reason that her power awakened in btow is her love for link witch is confirmed if you finish all of the shrine quests for kass he will tell you and allso a ton of symbolism like the silent princess petals at the end representing endless love and the links journal entries in the Japanese version (witch is technically the most cannon version because there was A lot of mistranslation)
Oh yeah, she's clearly still in love with him.
She turned herself into a dragon thinking she won't be able to go back to being a Hylian for Link's sake, I'd say the answer is obvious
Great memories of the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Ganondorf had that cool demon horse but we never see it in game. So sad bro
One thing I noticed of this game. It doesn't mention the Triforce at all, whatsoever, besides some random clothing designs.
Neither do Breath of the Wild, Spirit Tracks, Majora's Mask, or Phantom Hourglass.
@@hyliadreamer breath of the wild does.
also links awakening doesnt
I honestly don't think the developers care for the Triforce at all anymore. Probably see it as a hindrance to their storytelling. If it was up to them it would probably be long gone by now. They keep it around purely for fanservice reasons.
Is time travel the solution for EVERYTHING in this franchise?
No but it does happen a lot admittedly.
Okay, so if I get this right:
Ganondorf becomes so powerful that he infects the land with his "Gloom" (or Malice?).
@@mrthanos2404 Yeah, I have no idea either. I'm not that far into the story. I always get caught up in the "collection" of stuff in these games and save the story for after that's done.
I was just going based on what I saw here and what I knew from BotW.
Chill bro the devs just wanted to make a cool zelda game. They probably didn’t plan for the story to make sense with the overall lore

Sooooooo Tears of the kingdom is a time travel story?
This is basically Ocarina of Time 2 (3 if you're counting Majora's Mask)
Skyward Sword is also sorta a time travel story and so is Oracle of Ages. So maybe like, OOT 5?
Oh
What I see in Tears of the Kingdom that it has some many romantic moments for example, Rauru's and Sonia's love, Sidon's and Yuno's love, Link's and Zelda's love for each other so many times which is clearly of course but Tears of the Kingdom is at least for me seems to be some kind of love, I dunno why is just I feel like that
So many timelines, and they sure to keep multiplying.
Is it just me or does rauru's hair look's amazing

Wait so Zelda got the time stone in the present, then traveled to the past and met Sonia who already had the time stone which made 2. Then Ganondorf steals the time stone from Sonia and it’s the source of his malice.
Regarding Link, he is given a part of the power of each Sage after they are enhance by then, with exception of Zelda, Zelda is so overpower that she unconciously gives him a small part of her power.
@@ultimateshadeofwar this is convoluted and confusing I gotta say
@@theinformist232 It's simple, they are like a turbo for an engine, the engine being the innate power of each person, so they don't have a set power, the power is dictated by the person.
And the stone that Zelda has it's the one the King has, but it's from the future instead of the past.
And regarding Link, the powers he has are the same thing as the powers the other champions of Breath of the Wild only that the ones giving him powers are not dead.
The stones don’t have any inherent powers. They amplify whatever powers you have. Zelda and Sonia always had time magic, Ganondorf always had gloom magic. The stones just supercharged their natural abilities.
@@ultimateshadeofwarthere are 8 now tho
The fact that Zelda got Rauru Stone in the future and went back to the past taking it with her
Rauru still had his too
Zelda had a stone that enhanced her Time power
Rauru had a stone that enhanced his Light power
Mineru had a stone that enhanced her spirit power
Ancient Zora had a stone that enhanced their Water power
Ancient Goron had a stone that enhanced their Fire power
Ancient Gerudo had a stone that enhanced their Thunder power
Ancient Rito had a stone that enhanced their Air power
Sonia owned a stone that enhanced her time power wich Ganondorf took wich enhanced his Gloom powers
Making it a total of 8 stones
Tho before zelda back in time there was originaly 7 28:40
"She turned herself into a dragon, funniest shit I've ever seen"
Bro zeldas mother died when she is 7 years old, sonia acting like a mother for her is the best thing for her character its like having a closure or filling an empty space on her, but still 💀
Urbosa?
Lol but she's also dead 💀
Link: Let me get this master sword real quick *Pulls it with just 1 hand*
I think it’s really interesting that Zelda and the new sages get to keep the stones, including light and recall for the princess. It intrigues me how would they use that for future gaming.
Glad these are on youtube cause I'm not going around looking for those stupid tears
Ok but Queen Sonia is so gorgeous
So gorgeous yet she had almost no screentime
Rauru and Sonia being hot as hell, but are also dead as hell.
😅
TOTK seems to take place so long after the other games that Hyrule was founded a second time. This is very interesting, since we know there was history before the second founding of Hyrule. As we get multiple references to other games, especially Ocarina of Time, a game that also houses the kingdom of Hyrule, and a game which already had things well established before TOTK. My assumption is that so much time passed that Hyrulians began to forget about parts of the past, and began to start anew, which is why the characters in the past in this game look so ancient and old fashioned, although they come after games with characters that look more advanced than them. (Minus all the tech stuff.)
With this, we can draw a conclusion that after some time passed, Hyrule began to start anew, which is how everything seemed to reset in a way.
@@ZoniferConundrum I wonder the same.
My apologies but I already have slight issues with this story:
You're telling me Zelda spent a 100 years imprisioning Calamity GANON but a dude named GANONdorf did not make her realize the truth? Instead she is like"this dude is kinda weird lol"
Two: she has time stopping powers yet allowed Sonia to get pounded from behind without even interfering or stopping Ganondorf???
Also...did she fuck up the timeline? Cuz she's supposed to be a descendant of Sonia and Rawrawr ...but Sonia died without having children so...what happens there
I knoww I mean Gdorf even has the same clothes/jewelry and she doesn't recognize him at all?
Also in botw I thought that the divine beasts were used 10,000 years ago to stop Ganon during the original calamity, but they're not there, so is this supposed to be even before that?
Also how would a zonai/hylian kid look like lol? I wish they introduced a kid so we could know.
Yeah there’s too many plot holes.
This wasnt during the sheikah against calamity ganon era, this was way before that, thats pretty obvious. After sealing ganondorf, his malice must have leaked out, and the first time was the 10k years ago sheikah vs calamity ganon
@@cabbagepatch6205 The first calamity is when the sealed Ganondorf makes calamity ganon, which gets sealed away itself and comes back in the second calamity 10,000 years later, which means that this era is waaaaaay before the first calamity.
@@micahjoelgeimer4215 yes but how long before even these memories does skyward sword take place then, because this makes no sense in connection with the original Zelda timeline. If this ganondorf was sealed under the castle how could he have fought the hero of time or the hero of winds? Answer is, I think even these sonai flashbacks take place thousands of years after the older games. That’s the only way the lack of hylia, triforce, multiple ganondorfs pre-demise, make any sort of sense. Which basically means they decided to reboot the whole franchise which is just lame. Makes no sense for this other object of immense power to exist when the triforce is supposed to be the object of immense power
Funny how the secret stone was used as the jewel that’s usually on Ganondorf’s forehead in every other game he appeared in. Also no surprise that his becoming the demon king gave rise to the blood moon.
The changes in the lore... THE CHANGES!!!! YES!!!!!
I think this is just a new timeline separate from the other three
@@cybersoul2809 great changes, still. But why do u think that?
@@leonardofaber5823 BotW already had a ton of inconsistencies where it pulled up many aspects from all three timelines in ways that make them conflict with each other
TotK makes a lot more direct changes that conflict with the timeline even before it split into three.
It really feels like this duology is it’s own completely separate thing
@@cybersoul2809 that's why I believe this duology works as reboot of sorts. Its Hyrule pays tribute to all other entries in the franshise, while creates a new lore
@@leonardofaber5823 it just makes no fucking sense. No triforce, no hylia, first king of hyrule was a hylian named rauru not a Sonai, etc, etc. Only way this makes sense is if it’s so far in the future that these flashbacks also take place thousands of years after the events of the old games. Otherwise it retcons just about every old Zelda game.
24:17
Oh no this face😂😂😂😂😂
I can see the memes already
It's disappointing how little they tell us about Zonai in this game. And i do not have the patience to wait for a full on 6 years for another mainline Zelda game
51:06 skyward sword theme mixed with totk theme
This game is basically just OoT and SS story related with BOTW timeline and gameplay
I’d say it’s like a whole new Zelda timeline with BOTW just being a set up for Totk which explained the origins of existence and past lore then the future games will be just new threats to hyrule
So I’d say Totk is just like OoT
11:26 But if Sonia can control time, why is Zelda consulting Mineru at all? Why didn't Sonia send her back to her time?
13:42 Quite funny that Ganondorf has round ears when the rest of his people has pointy ears.
16:49 That's a very unconvenient evolutionnary trait lol XD
18:43 He know he's evil yet he doesn't blast him into oblivion?
I don't think Sonia's that powerful enough to send Zelda back to the future. Plus her power was more concentrated on objects than living things.
So awesome 😁 thanks you for the awesome content 😁
I don't think this Hyrule is the same Hyrule from, say, Minish Cap and onwards. Instead, I think the Hyrule founded by King Rauru is actually New New New New New Hyrule, to the extent that it defaulted to Hyrule because all previous versions were so long ago.
Unless its a separate thing, u telling me that's the first calamity is actually the imprisoning war that we should have gotten in the fallen timeline
This is tempting to watch but I'll save it for tomorrow 😅
Let's harvest the pieces. 15:31
51:04 - This melody as the Light Dragon ascends plays at the beginning of the final pre-launch trailer for TotK
I’m so excited. Who is voicing queen Sonia, she sounds like Meryl Streep but I don’t think it is actually her.
Pretty sure it’s Cherami Leigh
so basically this pretty much the first direct sequel, & yet it's both a sequel & prequel. This franchise couldn't resist another prequel could it, & despite saying that this is the beginning of Hyrule, they will find away to be more prequals.
Does this game ever explain why Calamity Ganon existed?
If you look at calamity he is made out of malice so I think while Gabon was trapped he was charging his power and created the calamity and controlled in attempt to free himself but never got to do so due to Zelda holding the calamity off
The seal wasn’t perfect and was leaking out. That was the malice, which took the form of Calamity Ganon.
(keep your friends close and your enemies closer) i believe is the saying
23:00 I think thats a reference to the hit game..
I have so many questions that I don't know where to begin.
