I had a complete breakdown today even though my presentation is tomorrow. This video really did help me calm down and made me a little bit more confident with myself. Thank you so much for this! I really wanna watch the rest of your videos regarding the IB but for now, I shall work on my TOK presentation :')
Hi! I'm so sad to hear that you had a breakdown, I know that feeling all too well. If you're nervous, just go through it a few more times and remember; they are not really judging your presentation SKILLS, they are judging WHAT you are saying. If you go slow, or if you read of a paper, they shouldn't really care. Just go in there and do your thing, and be proud of all the work you have done. Best of luck! Hugs xx
Thank you so much for that! I got through it today without any problems, luckily enough! Just made it to 9 minutes! I'm just so glad it's over! I have about 4-5 months left before exams start, hopefully I can get through it without any problems xxx
I would love that you make a video about how to be specific because guess that I´m not the only one that find some problems to synthesize ideas when we have a limit of words
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn, seems like i really nailed my presentation which i did alone cuz i knew two developments alone are easier to do.... The tok teacher says i faired pretty well and most importantly above average but im not pretty sure. The time you told your rls, knowledge question n then how you analysed it with different AOKs, i have a feeling my TOK grade is gonna be high for presentation. Planning to do the essay on the first tok question may 2019 which is on 'quality of knowledge'.
Hi Amanda :) I'm not sure if you'll still get a notification for this comment, but I thought I would ask a question anyway. I'm currently just starting my TOK presentation and I wanted to discuss the knowledge question "To what extent does one require a balance between emotion and reason when making ethical decisions?" by analysing gun laws in the United States. When I looked on Tim's blog, it has "evidence" and I'm a bit unsure about what that means. I was going to discuss the Sandy Hook shooting as one piece of evidence, but also use the Trolley Problem to show how decisions change depending on the circumstances. My TOK teacher, however, told me that I am just supposed to do one situation and show that it can be used in multiple ways. I wondered if you have any advice for how I can arrange my argument, as I'm not sure what my teacher meant... Do we discuss three situations, or just give some other sorts of examples?? Thanks
Yeah, but I don't see the use of this extra three points, if u know what i mean. It seems to me that it's just a mental boost, "hey, u did good", while good subject grades can exchange for credits in college.
well, when you apply for university they usually have a requirement table for IB students. So for instance to get into Edinburgh English Lit you need 42 points, to get into Newcastle you need 36 etc. So if you got 33 from your subjects, those extra three points from EE + TOK will get you into Newcastle. Every point matters bc universities look at your overall IB score more than they look at individual subjects. xx
Try to include phrases like 'ways of knowing', 'areas of knowledge', but also to base your discussion round the words included in those categories; mathematics, ethics, natural sciences, as well as imagination, intuition, memory etc. Hope that helped! Hugs! xx
Lol everyone else doing it in a group and I'm doing it myself hue, didn't want someone I cannot rely on to be a partner for something that worths a lot of marks (reliable teammates are not in my class :/)
My TOK teacher will not answer my desperate emails about whether my topic or Knowledge Question is any good.. I'm struggling so bad to understand what to do and the presentation is in 10 days. I'm in the middle of exam week rn, someone help! My KQ is "To what extent does emotion derived from photographs affect the way historical knowledge is perceived?" and RLS the photographs of Vietnam war which caused American public to see the sadness of the war and protest against the war. Sos!!!

Do you know pauline that lives in side bou?
this is helpful... thx....but question: why does tok grade matter
I'm glad you found it helpful!
It matters because it combines with your EE grade to give you 1-3 extra points! :)
Hugs xx

Nelli Jouhki Hi! It would be much easier if you emailed me with your question as I can give you a bit more of an elaborate answer there!
