It was tons of fun. I haven’t even seen minus one. I like both the Titans but Kong is my guy and I hope they put Kong on that King time next time. This one was Godzilla on that this time and I enjoyed it. Enjoyed all of it.
This guy definitely gets it. I remember watching godzilla final wars when I was like 9 and thinking "imagine if they made this on a Hollywood budget, that'd be amazing", and five years later the monsterverse started. Not only did it make my dream come true it expanded it, now I'm 24 and feeling like a little kid with a wild imagination with every new movie and show that comes out. It's truly an amazing time to be a kaiju fan.
Big G fans are living deliciously right now. Its nice to see a fandom be so accepting & nontoxic of what the Monsterverse has become & compared to the rest of Godzilla's history. Theres a place for dumb, but sincere, fun & this delivered it all. We just need more Godzilla next time (possibly the next being he needs Kong's help to fight the villain) I think they've FINALLY found the right amount of human story for these films; a small focused cast with a singular story.
I have always been a goji fanboy but i cant defend when people say he is the king of plot armour because they are kinda right in many terms. However i still am his fanboy❤
GxK is the most fun I’ve had in the theater since… well Godzilla: King of the Monsters. There’s plenty of great movie experiences, but nothing beats giant monsters duking it out on the IMAX screen with that glorious IMAX sound. MonsterVerse, Shin Godzilla, Polygon Trilogy, Singular Point, Minus One? All of them incredibly different from the other and yet all of them undeniably Godzilla. It’s shocking how versatile of a character the King of the Monsters can be. There’s never been a better time to be a Godzilla fan, and after 70 years that’s a hell to a thing to say.
Singular Point I tried watching but had to stop halfway through largely due to a lack of Godzilla and an overcomplicated storyline I wasn't able to follow, but from what clips I've seen, when Godzilla does show up, he leaves quite the impression! The Polygon Trilogy I did enjoy, though the first film is objectively better. I've always liked that film's take on Godzilla, and the fact that the being they killed wasn't the REAL Godzilla and the actual Godzilla was FREAKING HUGE made me feel genuine dread and worry for the characters. It's a shame the rest of the trilogy sucked.
Although I find value in Godzilla Singular Point, I found it too complicated with its major focus on physics. The Planet of Monsters Trilogy is a guilty pleasure of mine.
This is the most fun that I’ve had at the movies this year so far. Dune 2 is an overall better movie but GxK is still a blast. Granted they are two very different kinds of movies. It’s incredibly stupid but incredibly fun. I mean come on, Kong uses Suko as a baseball bat against evil apes and Godzilla suplexes Kong into a pyramid!!! What’s not to love?!
Absolutely. It's just a fun time at the movies and seeing it with a packed house with everyone getting into it just made for a special time at the movies!
Me and my dad went to watch this movie with somewhat mixed expectations... that was some of the most fun I've ever had in a theater. I was smiling from ear to ear almost the entire movie! Even though I've always loved the more dark and serious MV style of Godzilla (2014) I think that there is so many unique strengths in each movie in the Monsterverse!
Exactly! I love that because, like you, I also prefer the 2014 Godzilla, but the more absurdist take on the character we've seen in the later Monsterverse entries is equally as enjoyable and fun, just in a different way. I think that's the beauty of Godzilla. It can be all of these things and we love it for that.
GxK has so many deep levels that people overlook by calling it dumb fun. I loved your analysis of the movie and couldn't agree more. It adds to the Showa era without ever taking from it, it feels like such a natural addition to the franchise that doesn't harp on repeating the past.
So much heart and emotion. Kaiju are living just like humans. They feel pain, loneliness, and need for companionship and family. Seeing Kong go through all that made the film for me.
I agree. I hate when they constantly remake stuff like repeat but change it to modern and change original content. I like what they are doing for the big g
The dripped out King Goji thumbnail is EVERYTHING. Knew it was gonna be an incredible video as soon as I saw you post that a few days ago. And y'all cease to disappoint. Awesomely articulated video! You said everything I've been unable to about the film and more. So happy to be experiencing both sides of the IP like this and can't wait for more from both Legendary and Toho. Keep up the great work guys!
It fills me with great joy to see my favorite genre finally go "mainstream". We haven't had such a massive and creative output when it comes to the Kaiju genre since the Showa days and I could not be happier. We are eating good Kaiju Fans!
He's just so versatile, you can literally make him super serious and dramatic, while also making him funny and a goober , either way he fits For example one of his most silliest movies , Godzilla Vs hedorah, still held up a message Against pollution. Which is great
The Monsterverse and Minus One just prove that Godzilla is without a doubt the most fluid character in film. One minute, he can be the lovable hero of a fun action movie and the next a nightmarish metaphor in an anti-war masterpiece and neither seem even slightly out of place. For the life of me, I can't recall any other single character that can do that
I feel like one of the most underlooked accomplishments of GXK is the human characters. They are actually entertaining to watch, probably because they actually feel relevant to the story while still feeling fleshed out
Ilene wanting to do right by Jia knowing it'll pain her to let her go, Bernie wanting to financially boost his podcast, Trapper being the most in tune with nature despite not being Iwi, and Jia finding proper belonging with other Iwi (paralleling Kong's finding his belonging with other Kongs).
Finally. An actual good video about Godzilla! Not one of those garbage video essays talking shit like "Minus One is so good, and Western film-makers have no idea how to make Godzilla, all Godzilla movies should be like Minus One" Hats off to you. Very well put together video, especially that intro recapping Godzilla's past. Reminds us why he is the King of the Monsters 🔥
But -1 was unequivocally better in terms of spectacle and action too. This movie is uniquely dumb. Aggressively so. Kotm was fantastic, and my favorite american outing
@@kingoftherevolution4855 That was the point though. kotm was arguably a more heisei style, while this one leaned back into the mid-showa inspiration of just being big dumb fun. -1 was good, but it's a whole different category of movie, basically it's 54 zilla, being compared to a mid-showa film.
I had an absolute blast with GxK. Felt like a kid again in the cinema and I was surprised at how many others shared my perspective. I’ve been a Godzilla fan since childhood and have been loving the MonsterVerse since day 1. Long live the king baby!
Yo I had to pause this I'm only 38 seconds in and whoever is editing this like who put the video together I just have to say thank you 😊 just from the editing I can tell how much Godzilla has affected your life and you have a great respect for him I haven't been this excited for a video in a long time so 38 seconds in and you got me on the edge of my seat already just thought I'd like to let you know. G Fan to G Fan.
I love it how he started talking about Godzilla, Then he follows talking about Kong and finally ends talking about humanity and the importance of unity, just like the movie said, Rise Together or Fall Alone, I may not agree with you all the time, but we agree on this, thanks for this amazing video FilmSpeak, thank you so much, long live the Kings.
The malleability and flexibility of Godzilla ought to collapse under itself and drag the character down with him, and yet the Big G manages to be both serious and artful and totally maximalist, bananas entertainment. Frankly, similarly iconic characters have attempted to be embody both opposite ends of the spectrum over the years to much LESS success or organic transition. Overall, great video! Especially with nailing how the film just captures that inner child's imagination and excitement. By the way, any chance you could do individual deep dives on prior Godzilla and King Kong films like Gareth Edwards' Goji or Peter Jackson's Kong?
Peter Jackson's King Kong is one of my favorite films of all time, so definitely want to get around to covering that at some point. I also have a cool idea for a Mothra video I might tackle later this year! So definitely plans to tackle other Godzilla/Kong films for sure.
It just goes to show the versatility of the Godzilla franchise: you can have moving epics about overcoming war trauma like Minus One and you can have the MonsterVerse movies which are the Kaiju equivalent of MMA fights.
I was 8yrs old in 1970, spent many Saturdays at the theater. Been a huge fan ever since! I love every film, (and yes I've seen them all). To me, there is not a bad/terrible movie, I like some better than others, but any Godzilla is better than no Godzilla. I'm so stoked that he is finally getting the credit he deserves!! I've been trying to tell everyone for the last 50yrs!!!
if you were a kid growing up during 2004 through 2014, and grew up watching godzilla movies, then this is what your childhood self would have been happy for, the last decade being filled with awesome godzilla and kaiju movies. I love every piece of godzilla media regardless if its overseas or american, I'm just happy to have survived through the era when nothing came out
The next movie should focus on Godzilla and flesh out his character. Besides taking joy out of combat the most we see of Godzilla being more than just a monster is when he’s a parent. So I think that’s relatable enough for audiences to connect with. Been a long time since we saw an offspring of Godzilla.
Maaaaann this one was certified kick ass awesome! You perfectly found a way to articulate exactly what makes Godzilla and Kong so awesome and iconic. You also highlighted the importance of feeding your inner child and reminding yourself it's okay just to have a blast at the movies, which is exactly what Peak Cinema is, a film that can take your mind off of the rest of the world from 90 minutes to 2 hours all the while you shove your face with popcorn, laugh, cry and cheer the whole way through, especially about a movie about a nuclear dinosaur teaming up with a gargantuan gorilla to fight other monsters, a Film that has so much heart and soul doing its own thing while showing its love and appreciation for the films that came before it. For this, I tip my hat off to you sir. Thank you!
@@kingoftherevolution4855 Hmm...in nearly 40 movies you'd place this one that near the bottom? Either your understanding of Godzilla is worse than you'd like to admit, or your understanding of film is _way_ worse than you'd be able to admit.
I'm so happy with Godzilla and the rest of the monsters nowadays. I never in all my life have had so much FUN Godzilla content. FUN as in I'm genuinely enjoying myself seeing other people enjoy Goji the way I did growing up and still do now. Yeah a lot of films growing up were kinda boring, but if Godzilla showed up on screen (we don't talk about '98) we knew what we were having and we ultimately had FUN! Go Go Godzilla and Kong too! 🐲🦍
I'm not even finished watching this, and it is easily one of my favorite Godzilla UA-cam videos I've ever seen. THIS MOVIE WAS JUST BATSHIT INSANE AND IS SO MUCH FUN, I LOVE IT. (Also, yeah, the non-verbal scenes go super hard)
As a godzilla fan myself i felt like king kong deserve just as much credit and recognition as G-lizard because kong has debuted in 1933 whereas godzilla debut in 1954 kong hadnt had more movies when compare to godzilla himself but i felt like the big king ape deserve just as much appreciation since kong was the first to revolutionized the monster movie medium while beast of 5000 fathom is the first proto kaiju film to be made king kong was the first to expand it further. I felt like king ape deserved to be just as much respect as G-lizard would.
This quote is about Batman, but it applies to Godzilla all the same: *_"Batman's rich history allows him to be interpreted in a multitude of ways. To be sure, this is a lighter incarnation, but is certainly no less valid and true to the character's roots as the tortured avenger, crying out for mommy and daddy."_** ~ Bat Mite, Batman: The Brave and The Bold.*
Brilliant/best review of the film. I’m glad that you truly went in depth on the film and the themes of unity, compassion, and companionship being at the fore front of the movie. When you brought up Kong and Jia being mirrors of each other and why suko was acting in fear of Kong because of his treatment of scar King made me appreciate and love the film way more. Really hit hard🥹. Subscribed for life. Thank you Adam Wingard and give us more momsterverse.
Loving the Monsterverse, this golden age of kaiju which has supplanted the flagging superhero films of Marvel and DC. And Godzilla Minus One should get an Oscar for best foreign film! You take out Godzilla and its still an incredible drama about the spirit of the Japanese people un the aftermath of the war. A beauriful story of strength, hope and family.
It’s insane when a racist “critic” being unhinged on Monsterverse fans for liking it, when it has the least amount of fuck ups compared to other cinematic universes. We need more people like you
Not gonna name him, but LP is pretty deranged... Even his supporters are taking a step back. I'm just glad that actual Godzilla fans are calling out this sort of nonsense from tourists and UA-cam Grifters. It's fine to not like the movie but making an hour thirty min plus vid and throwing hate at the fanbase...... YIKES!
@@Sgt.Dornan117 Agree, I treat certain Doctor too harshly. At least he apologized on Twitter, admitted his faults, and not calling viewers slurs left and right. Long rant ahead. If you can’t even take criticisms towards you, deleting comments to make yourself look good, and insulting people for liking it, then you failed as a “Critic”. It’s crazy he’s this obnoxious after watching him on EFAP
I was reading the "top critic" reviews for GXK and most of them compared it to minus one, saying that the monster verse needs to learn from toho and they ruined Godzilla, they never talk about the actual movie
I'm sure you'd be happy to know that Tobey Kebbell, the mocap actor for Kong Skull Island and Terry Notary, the current Kong mocap actor, had roles in the reboot of the Planet Of The Apes franchise, Tobey played Koba and Terry played Rocket, so it blows my mind that they didn't get rid of the rubber Godzilla suits, they just made them digitally
This is definitely one of the best reviews of GxK. Toxic Fans and Critics might call it awful, bad or mid (which it isn’t by any means), since they only watched Shin Godzilla and Minus One and think they know everything. But this review is definitely the best. GxK isn’t meant to be like Minus One, it is supposed to be whacky like the Showa era (Don’t get me wrong, the Monsterverse is definitely better than the Showa era), and we can love both different styles for what they are. 👍🏻👍🏻
The wordless "dialogue" scenes between the monsters were so effective, that when I try to remember the scenes now, I have wrong recollections of Scar King and the other apes talking to each other, and Suko and Kong talking shit to one another! With words!
On Japanese Twitter I’ve seen people basically write out what the monsters are “saying”. They’re calling them characters from a yakuza movie. It kind of shows how much personality the monsters have. I’m a huge fan of Minus One, as my profile pic shows, but GxK from what I can gather is like a good wrestling match; wrestling isn’t just action, there’s a hero and a villain, storylines, arcs. Even if it doesn’t make sense often. And I respect that.
The fact that Godzilla can be tailored to any audience is the key. He can be a big scary monster only looking to kill anything that moves or he can also be a big goofball leaping around and wwe wrestling other kaijus. It can be enjoyed by the maturest of adults and children.
@@kasaibouF29 during the hollow earth battle, when they were floating, Godzilla kicked tf outta scar king with both feet, he was spinning it was real quick but it was there
It really happened in Kong Skull Island, continued in Godzilla King of The Minsters, and saved the box office during COVID with Godzilla vs Kong. Anyone who thought Godzilla x Kong The New Empire would not be a hit was only fooling themselves.
At least somebody that gets the movie, when you look at other "reviews" they dont seem to get the point. I for my part had so much fun in the cinema since a long long time
Someone really needs to make a video about the unlikely rise of the MonsterVerse. How this series became possibly the second most successful shared universe behind the MCU which in itself is a major accomplishment. Considering many including the DCEU have failed to even sniff the MCU’s success.
I don't think the Monsterverse is about a ton of different "star" characters so much as just a springboard for a lot of interconnected crazy movies. And I'm fine with that. If they can make a movie starring another character that isn't Godzilla or King Kong that works then more power to them...but I'm fine with them concentrating just on Godzilla and King Kong for now. They shouldn't be trying to copy Marvel that closely. I'm more interested in seeing a ton of crazy and different adventures with just a couple main characters than trying to make a dozen different characters be the star of their own movie. If they throw another one in there who could possibly have his own movie, I could see Gamera possibly working. Or Ultraman if they want to get really crazy..
Minus one is not just the best godzilla Film i have ever seen but the best movie over all that i have ever seen. But the monsterverse is still a blast and i love both versions. But well i love most of the godzilla movies 😅😂 I really like how ur one of the guys who understands that u can enjoy both and dont have to choose one and hate the other
This film felt like a sensory overload in the best way. I expected something like the past monsterverse movies where humans were the main characters and the kaiju were kinda were in the back ground then it exceeded my expectations 10 times over. Can't wait for godzilla to do his long distance drop kick.
Kong punches godzillia in the teeth with his iron man glove. Then, he starts dragging him by the tail towards the portal to earth's hollow center... 11/10
I love the new movies, but I genuinely think that Godzilla 2014 realism and dark tone that makes some scenes genuinely terrifying still makes it my favourite movie of all of them. One of my favourite movies ever too.
I saw it the other day shortly after watching GxK. It is still amazing but the protagonist is boring af and they have the audacity to cut some scenes when the monsters are going to fight in a monster movie. You're right about the serious and dark atmosphere it allows the movie to have some awesome scenes like Godzilla's reveal, but that would get old after a couple of movies imo. I enjoy the more recent Monsterverse movies more but I understand why Godzilla 2014 is your favourite.
Monsterverse Godzilla is one of the biggest Hollywood home runs in a long long time, in my opinion. Usually when Hollywood puts their own spin on something they neuter or water it down or rip the soul out of it. But their version of Godzilla is just amazing. He looks PERFECT. The look is on point. The effects are on point. The attitude is on point. The visual grandeur of it all. The relentlessness. He just goes full blast 100% of the time. King Kong is also wonderful but I feel like he's an easier character to crack. I love seeing them as allies. I hope this series keeps delivering and becomes the biggest in Hollywood and others take lessons from it. Just deliver on expectations. Don't try to subvert unless the subversion is in service of something even better than what we're expecting. Just deliver. Period. I can even forgive quite a bit if the movie feels like it was made in good faith by people who actually like the characters. This is currently what is absolutely destroying Star Wars..
While lacking the godly power of Ghidorah, imo Skar King is by far the most evil MV villain and one of the most wicked and disgusting kaiju villains ever put to screen. Ghidorah is a force of pure destruction; he has his moments of pettiness and clear enjoyment of Godzilla's suffering when he nearly kills him, but he mainly destroys. Skar King, meanwhile, is actively an irredeemable monster. He subjugates his entire kind, turns them into a cult of personality around them, effectively enslaves them, among so many other things. He brutally murders Suko's caretaker for little reason other than her not wanting him to hurt Suko, and perhaps worst of all he seems to harbor a "breeding pit" of sorts up around his throne, since the room is full of mostly female apes with red-haired babies (the novelization states Suko doesn't even know who his mother is). He's effectively what Wingard said: the worst of humanity, all bundled together into a wretched, wrinkly old tyrannical ape. He's fucking abominable, and I definitely think he holds a spot among the other greats like Ghidorah for best kaiju villains ever.
There’s also the theme of Isolation Kong feels lonely because he can’t find any members of his own race, Godzilla feels isolated because outside of Mothra none of the other Titans have his back they obey him out of self preservation and he seems so tired and done with it all, like someone who works a thankless 9-5 to the point he develops a bit of a ruthless streak until Mothra resurrected to calm him down, and of course the mute girl who feels like she doesn’t fit in with her classmates who’s only remaining connection to her people was Kong.
Who could of guessed dinosaur God that does wwe moves would be popular with kids in America But real talk shouts out to the guys doing the new series, you guys have taken marvels place of having the best connected universe.
I went in thinking this would be a stupid fun movie with the usual writing that left me disappointed but satisfied with the action. I was blown away with Kong taking the narrative weight and the sheer amount of crazy fun action that happens in the movie.
Brilliant analysis of a franchise that many including myself love. Loved how you articulated so many deep thoughts and messages in such a way that was very thought provoking and something I will carry with me to think about. Keep up the great work!!
You know what I've realized? Adam was setting up technology for the future of the Monsterverse, as well as a showdown between the world and Godzilla. I'll explain what I mean. Because of the HEAVs, we may get Atragon or the Super X series of craft in the future. Because of Mechagodzilla, we may begin getting other technological terrors like Mechani-Kong, Mecha-King Ghidorah (yes, Apex used the skull of Ghidorah, but what happened to the SKIN? Using regenerative tissues they could rebuild Ghidorah but implement a mechanism to control it remotely), or Jet Jaguar. Because of a line from KOTM and the intense radiation powerups Godzilla has been subject to, its obvious he's being powered up to fight the governments of the world, if not the United States government. It has been repeatedly stated that the United States government has been trying to seize control over Monarch and over all its operations in Hollow Earth. I feel like just like in the Heisei and Millennium Eras the government is going to build mechas to kill Godzilla. Mechas fully under their control. This would pit Godzilla against the government and as a villain instead of a hero.
Godzilla is the only thing that can get me to go to a theatre. I have enjoyed every film I've seen as a result of this from KOTM to GxK. I still remember popping off when KOTM used the Blue Oyster Cult song for its credits and I think GxK is the overall best monsterverse movie yet.
I still strongly believe with out the monster verse (atleast 2014 godzilla) we wouldnt have gotten: Shin godzilla, both anime movie trilogy and the tv series, and minus one. 2004 final wars was supposed to be the final godzilla movie from toho. With the reintroduction and WB putting it across the world, this will help push godzilla to the 75 year mark at the least. Cant wait to see what haapens to the 100 year mark!!!!!!! A found footage cloverfield kinda movie would be a great horror movie.
Its hard to believe but Godzilla 70 the year of New Empire and is still the long running film franchise with the most movie entries. And across that 70 years their has been a lot variation of the big guy, and yes those miserable people still come out the basement to complain that anything other then the strict vaguely defined "right" way for Godzilla is the only one, and most people are not gonna be exposed to just one version but the many different versions. It kind of established at this point that the big guy doesn't have a strict interpretation.
Godzilla is the EPITOME of what the Golden Age of Cinema was. Imagine it’s a Saturday night in the 1950s you’re 16 - 17 and you asked your crush out on a date and she accepts. So after you guys get a quick snack at the burger joint car hop, you go to the drive in theater and watch that new Godzilla movie (or the day the earth stood still or whatever sci fi monster flick) if Godzilla did not invent this term, then there is no denying he definitely pushed the “Saturday night Monster movie matinee!” Trope the 50s cinema was known for!
I can't prove it but I have a theory that Godzilla powering up to purple-pink in GxK was in part to help differentiate that Godzilla from the Godzilla in Godzilla Minus One. Shin Godzilla had purplish-pink atomic breath, so it's not totally unfounded. But it does make Godzilla in the monsterverse clearly differentiated from Godzilla in Godzilla Minus One to less aware audiences.
I feel like Godzilla's success is in part attributed to his diversity. The series can be funny and more WWE style like heisei era. They can be more horror inspired like Shin and Minus One. Or even the current MV iteration which started with a darker tone at 2014 and has gradually transitioned into the action packed and SCI FI loaded GxK. Showing how pushing current CGI to its limits can bring Godzilla to a stage never seen before, perhaps in the entirety of moster movie cinema.
Could you do one about the incredible hulk (2008) and the savage hulk and Bruce banner in general, because I feel the big guy is equally as good to enjoy to watch smashing things regardless of eather the comic or his own solo movies.
This was a great movie and it showcased quite possibly some of the best visual storytelling in film, and telling us that these monsters are more than just special effects, but actual living breathing characters.
Just watched MXK and i had a blast, the action was amazing, the backgrounds were beautiful, the human story was ok, but im here for the monsters and they did that great, loved the movie and love godzilla
Nice to see someone appreciate the Monsterverse movies for the fun they impart rather than constantly trying to bring them down by insisting they be as "serious" as their latest Toho counterparts.

Awesomely articulated video! You said everything I've been unable to about the film and more. So happy to be experiencing both sides of the IP like this and can't wait for more from both Legendary and Toho.
Keep up the great work guys!
Amazing. Thank you so much!!

Yeah unfortunately that genre being mainstream draws pretentious tourists. Gatekeep is needed imo

Godzilla will always come back. No matter how much hiatus his series goes through. He'll always come back, one way or another.
It has been doing it for a nearly century. It just is how it is, it'll be always return to the stage as the king
He's just so versatile, you can literally make him super serious and dramatic, while also making him funny and a goober , either way he fits
For example one of his most silliest movies , Godzilla Vs hedorah, still held up a message Against pollution.
Which is great
he is inevitable
He is the perfect metaphor, you can ascribe just about anything to him and it works perfectly
i mean yeah, i'm pretty sure it's literally in the contract that he can't die
The success of minus one and the monster verse has made it clear that Goatzilla and his monster buddies will never die. They’re here to stay
Not one of those garbage video essays talking shit like "Minus One is so good, and Western film-makers have no idea how to make Godzilla, all Godzilla movies should be like Minus One"
Hats off to you.
@@kingoftherevolution4855Bro your opinion is subjective like everyone else's
@@kingoftherevolution4855 That was the point though. kotm was arguably a more heisei style, while this one leaned back into the mid-showa inspiration of just being big dumb fun.
-1 was good, but it's a whole different category of movie, basically it's 54 zilla, being compared to a mid-showa film.
*cough cough* Doctor skipper
Much appreciated man! Worked closely with our editor to get that intro right. Glad it paid off!
I'm so glad that these movies are getting mainstream, I no longer feel crazy about adoring them 😂
I love it how he started talking about Godzilla, Then he follows talking about Kong and finally ends talking about humanity and the importance of unity, just like the movie said, Rise Together or Fall Alone, I may not agree with you all the time, but we agree on this, thanks for this amazing video FilmSpeak, thank you so much, long live the Kings.
Literal peak fiction, i couldnt stop smiling in the theater.
The monsterverse is getting more movies and shows I’m so hype for more Toho monsters to appear
if you were a kid growing up during 2004 through 2014, and grew up watching godzilla movies, then this is what your childhood self would have been happy for, the last decade being filled with awesome godzilla and kaiju movies.
I seriously want them to redesign Manilla and have him and Junior as twins or at least siblings. I wonder what that would look like tbh.
Finnaly a good Godzilla video we needed unlike those doctor skipper tourists
Thank you!
70 years and he still stands strong, whether he’s goofy or scary. I love him and the franchise so much ❤

The two different versions of Godzilla is kinda like how Resident Evil also has different genres between survival horror games and the action games
I was literally thinking about the idea of godzilla fans being able enjoy both sides of godzilla earlier today and now i find your video
This quote is about Batman, but it applies to Godzilla all the same:
*_"Batman's rich history allows him to be interpreted in a multitude of ways. To be sure, this is a lighter incarnation, but is certainly no less valid and true to the character's roots as the tortured avenger, crying out for mommy and daddy."_** ~ Bat Mite, Batman: The Brave and The Bold.*
Brave and the bold was a great show
Brilliant/best review of the film.

The fact that godzilla did a suplex
Loving the Monsterverse, this golden age of kaiju which has supplanted the flagging superhero films of Marvel and DC.
And Godzilla Minus One should get an Oscar for best foreign film! You take out Godzilla and its still an incredible drama about the spirit of the Japanese people un the aftermath of the war. A beauriful story of strength, hope and family.
It’s insane when a racist “critic” being unhinged on Monsterverse fans for liking it, when it has the least amount of fuck ups compared to other cinematic universes. We need more people like you

As a godzilla vs. Megalon Defender, I agree with this review
With words!
may the sun never set on your new empire goes so hard dude, like thats literal poetry there
On Japanese Twitter I’ve seen people basically write out what the monsters are “saying”.
And that's why he's lasted for 70 years!
They gave us the Godzilla drop kick!!! What more else do I need to say, don’t get me started on that dive he did
When did Godzilla do the drop kick in GXK?

Godzilla has been a part of my entire life, that big atomic lizard will always hold a place in my heart, I appreciate all Godzilla media.
Someone really needs to make a video about the unlikely rise of the MonsterVerse.
How this series became possibly the second most successful shared universe behind the MCU which in itself is a major accomplishment. Considering many including the DCEU have failed to even sniff the MCU’s success.
Him and Kong are single-handedly carrying monsterverse tbh

I also love the GxK movies and I agree. I hope the next Godzilla movie does tone it back down a bit. Just to keep the franchise feeling fresh.
The one where goatzilla only has a total of 11 minutes of screen time
27:48 "They're called Vertecines!"
13:11 As a longtime Godzilla fan, this guy gets it.
He's fucking abominable, and I definitely think he holds a spot among the other greats like Ghidorah for best kaiju villains ever.
>my favorite godzilla film to date
>accompanying footage is the infamous door closing on the monster fight we don't get to see
There’s also the theme of Isolation Kong feels lonely because he can’t find any members of his own race, Godzilla feels isolated because outside of Mothra none of the other Titans have his back they obey him out of self preservation and he seems so tired and done with it all, like someone who works a thankless 9-5 to the point he develops a bit of a ruthless streak until Mothra resurrected to calm him down, and of course the mute girl who feels like she doesn’t fit in with her classmates who’s only remaining connection to her people was Kong.
Who could of guessed dinosaur God that does wwe moves would be popular with kids in America
But real talk shouts out to the guys doing the new series, you guys have taken marvels place of having the best connected universe.
I went in thinking this would be a stupid fun movie with the usual writing that left me disappointed but satisfied with the action. I was blown away with Kong taking the narrative weight and the sheer amount of crazy fun action that happens in the movie.
Godzilla is a villian and a Hero thats why we love him and lets be real its his atomic breath or laser breath we love to see it everytime.

Definitely one of the best reviews I've read for this film.
I still strongly believe with out the monster verse (atleast 2014 godzilla) we wouldnt have gotten:
Shin godzilla, both anime movie trilogy and the tv series, and minus one.
ZSJL is an unrealized opportunity. A masterpiece. We really missed out.
Cringe lol it's fucking terrible bro
Godzilla since 54 to forever the real goat
Same reason Robots or Superheroes are so popular everyone just loves them just like they love giant monsters.
Ya'know, the "Gollumesque" attitude of Suko, is likely a homage to Andy Serkis, another Kong actor.
I heard you say “Shimu” and “Shima” but I didn’t hear “Shimo”. Excellent video, here’s my like.
My cousin introduced me to Titanus Gojira OG movie in black and white. I will never forget the Godzilla song. Also the title of KING of ALL MONSTERS!
