DIY Tank & Suspension Tutorial

- This video shows a step-by-step tutorial of how to create a scale model tank from cardboard with an geared electric motor and DIY suspension. The tank is made using cardboard, a hot glue gun, some recycled RC tank parts, batteries, popsicle sticks, elastic bands, nuts, bolts and washers.
The main focus of this project was to figure out how to make the DIY track suspension to go with the old recycled RC tank parts I had lying around. I wanted to design the tank suspension using simple things like nuts, bolts, popsicle sticks and elastic bands but there are tank track kits you can buy online if you want new ones. I tried a few different designs like the bogie tank suspension but decided to go for this design inspired by the Christie tank suspension instead. The suspension design I settled with can be tweaked quite easily by adding or removing rubber bands to increase or decrease the stiffness.
The tank, motor and suspension performed well over some small rocks where the suspension moved quite significantly to absorb the impacts. However, it would work much better with a new RC geared motor which should be fairly easy to find online. See for example the links below. The recycled geared DC motor I used in this project had some gears that slipped under heavy loads. Even so, I am very happy with the result.
I hope that this simple tank and suspension would inspire some new designs.

Un trabajo excelente, buscaba un vídeo que explicara como crear una suspensión en las orugas y creo encontré el adecuado, gracias por compartir tu ingenio y creatividad, intentaré hacer ese modelo, me gustó bastante. Saludos.

nice video
Awesome!
Wow it is realy nice
Good tank
I might make this into remote controlled 😀😀
Could someone please explain to me why the suspension arms are angled as opposed to dead vertical in a Christie suspension system? Does this offer some sort of advantage that I'm not seeing?
Why the tank tyre different in the link you give and the video tank tyre?
Nice
