- Taking a crack at The Blackest Crow on the fretless banjo. I find this one a little tough to sing for whatever reason, but I hope y’all enjoy it anyways. It’s a lovely old traditional waltz about a pair that has to part ways for a time.
The best! Wow!! 😎
This feels like something you'd hear someone in the corner of an old saloon singin and playin. At least thats the vibes that it gives off, especially your voice.
Nicely done, a very atmospheric version of this tune.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your fretless technique, and that baritone singing gives the tunes a haunting vibe.
Thank you! I appreciate that. Glad you enjoyed it!
You know where I locate a tab for this version. You played it very nicely and I would like to learn it too now.
Hey, thanks! I have a very basic walkthrough. Most of what I’m doing here is just slides built from the basics. Here’s a link to that if it helps.

Beautiful
Good video. Nice tune. I love that fretless banjo!
Man, I’m really enjoying it too. My favorite!
This is awesome. Not sure why, but your voice reminded me of Cat Stevens
Wow, thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Love it !
Oh I love this!!!
Thanks man!
Tight! 😮❤😮
Much appreciated David! Glad you enjoyed it!
I loved this. I love a fretless banjo. Especially tuned down. Were you using a stomp box for the bass kick? Sounded great and really drove the song. Your voice suited it well. One of the best versions I've heard of the song.
I appreciate it! I’m really loving this banjo. Even more so because it was the first one I made. The stomp sounds like that because I have part of an old low stage we salvaged from a church that was being renovated. The floor in this place is on slab, and the wooden stage is about 6” high off of that and makes a nice thump when you stomp. Trying to take advantage of that lately.
