Amazing footage! Do you have info available about your gimbal design? It is very smooth and can turn in a wide angle. I am planning to build an fpv cockpit for the eflite focke wulf. :)
That’s plenty of space to fit my gimbal. And you can easily adjust height to get to proper pilot eye position. Servos are top quality digital, metal gear, ball bearing and custom ordered from Savox in Taiwan. Should be available in a few more months. I might produce working Revi reflector sight in the not too distant future. So that would go nicely in the FW-190. Check out the Zero fighter cockpit picture in my community page.
@@motionsic I am defenitely interested in your gimbal. I already contacted
tim79de for the revi gunsight but unfortunately, he hasn't one for sale anymore. If you produce these, I would be interested in that for sure! The zero picture is amazing, just like the real thing! Great work!
@@motionsic You really have inspired me to pick up FPV head tracking flying again. 10 years since last time, then with analoge set up. I would love to try your gimbal set up in my Freewing T-33. Current setup is a bit jittering and I have limited pan & tilt.
@@pfluftfoto3188 So glad you chimed in to say that. That is the whole point of setting up this channel! With HD FPV, the realism is at different level compared to analog FPV. Especially with a smooth pan & tilt tuned for 1:1 with head movement. The Freewing T-33 maybe a little on the tight side. The gimbal needs a cylindrical space about 40mm in diameter, about 50mm tall (dome top) in cockpit to moved freely. I no longer have the T-33 to check, but gimbal should fit fine.
@@motionsic I carved out space in my T-33 so I have enough space. Currently servotravel is my limitation in pan. Tilt is limited by gimbal design as you can see in thus flight 2 days ago: ua-cam.com/video/k9rMQuYT2CE/v-deo.html
It's amazing!
It is so stable that I felt as though boarding on a real plane.
It’s 2 am and I’m watching random RC videos. Nonetheless this is amazing. 💪🏽🔥

My time is 22:36, but trust me, it will happen…
Yup I am currently watching this at 12.30 pm
2:51….. can’t sleep
Man this is awesome. I think you also gain in precision landing with the onboard camera. Great Job !
Yeah! I agree.
@prestallar4339 I do not measure the latency. No need. I don’t feel the delay in head-tracker when I fly.
That's great flying. You're way too hard on yourself. That dogleg final is just scary!
Thanks! We are used to it flying at OCMA. Back then when I was new flying fast jets, yeah it was scary.
That sunset view was the first thing that caught my eye although it was through the canopy of your Mig 29. Beautiful flying site! I have no basis of comparison for FPV but still can appreciate the smoothness and clarity of your rig. Makes me want to FPV my King Cat but it's not allowed at SWAP flying field.
I always thought about FPV flying before it was conceived but with posters like you, I can experience the dream to a reality. Nice work and thanks! :)
And I thought I was sweet with my vr headset vtol vr and rudder pedals…. This is next level insane!
Your setup sounds good for DCS👍
@@motionsic vtol vr can be played without a hotas…. So can dcs but it’s very cumbersome. Until I get a hotas I can’t get enjoyment out of dcs… it’s just fumbling between vr controllers and keyboard 😂.
Takes the immersion right out.
One day though I’ll have everything I need to spend some real time with dcs.
Until then, vtol vr is amazing fun and will fill the void!
Interesting. Three ways I can think of to do this:
1) This
2) Flight sim
3) Real plane
Which is least expensive? Which is most satisfying?
IDK. But this is definitely one of those ways. All three are cool.
Sim is less expensive, though not by much if one goes for top of the line graphics. RC planes are more thrilling since there is risk of crashing. And not as risky as flying real plane. This is a sweet spot for fun and thrills.
@@motionsic Haha yes indeed. Really it takes a special breed of person to do RC. I did it for awhile and crashed my way out of the hobby. I actually did something kind of similar about 12 years ago -- I put an FPV camera on an RC helicopter and flew it around. It was unnerving as this thing was essentially a flying lawnmower so the risk of injury or damage was pretty scary and the technology just wasn't that good back then. Video and drone technology has exploded since then.
Now I get my thrills flying VR headset on the simulator. Very similar feel to what you're doing but no risk of crash. BUT -- I do get to do "missions" -- flying the heli to do various tasks, lifting, air combat support, etc.
Would be interesting to expand the RC world to doing something like that -- flying missions, air combat, supporting RC construction LOL. That would be the cutest thing. And also thrilling because dropping the RC heli onto the RC construction site would be basically RC catastrophe LOL. Then you'd need the RC firetrucks to come put the fire out and the RC ambulances to take the RC injured away.
Absolutely brilliant, want one!
Here’s my FPV equipment list which you can then install on any RC plane of decent size (40” span and up):

@@motionsic I gotta have one myself 😍
That awesome! Just need like a sim cockpit now wired up for controls 😂
That would be a truly immersive experience!
Wow! Just wow! No need for us to be a real pilot for us to be able to fly the plane. But it will be more realistic if you operate that in a gaming cockpit that is motion connected from the plane, it would be more realistic the experience.. that’s only my opinion. But anyway good job sir.
This is beyond awesome!! Wish I could afford this setup.
Pure Skills!!!!
Thanks, cheers!
Badass 😎 Doesn't get much cooler than this
Beautiful plane and extraordinary FPV experience. Great flying as well👍 The fact that you happen to be flying a Mig-29 adds a certain poignancy given current events🇺🇦❤️.

Hi, so can you just connect the red and black wires on the air unit to a separate battery? Will that work? Thanks.
Yes. That’s how I did it initially with a 3S 450mAh battery. But to save weight, I have since switched to using a small 12V BEC that weighs less than 5 grams.
@@motionsic ok thanks😊😊😊
This would be awesome for me if I ever got into this hobby. My biggest fear is buying a plane and getting disoriented.
I would recommend learning to fly RC planes line of sight, or conventionally, from ground view. It will give you the big picture regarding orientation. Once proficient, then start exploring FPV- first person view, or as I prefer, fighter pilot view😉
Try 4 pen cameras taped up into a diamond shape , front view, back view and both side views and put it into 1 video?. That would be cooler to watch!!
Thanks for the suggestion!
We have arrived with the flying of RJ jets. Next will be miniature hand movements on the stick and power, and specific controls.
Pretty cool but I'd lose the canopy. I know it's there for effect though :)
Yeah. I have been flying without the canopy for a while now.
Genial 💪
Couldn't the runway be built farther away from the trees?
That was discussed before, but it is what it is. Not such a big issue once used to the field.
Cool👍
Amazing unseen quality and smoothness of the camera! What are permissions needed to fly this machine, if i can ask? When flying on the rc airfield, you need to inform anybody about the flight? Does close flying with FPV goggles count as eye-contact range?
On RC field, need a spotter to keep eye-contact for you to be legal.
@@motionsic How is this model classified as? I mean you need to pass exams and register it, no matter if flying fpv or not?
@@ban5176 not needed. Just need to register to FAA and pass a basic knowledge test called TRUST. Become a member of AMA and the local RC club. That’s it in the USA. This class of model is quite common in RC clubs. There are many more bigger, faster, heavier models.
Now all we need is a little robot arm to press little tiny tactile switches (ones in the cockpit to operate stuff) we stole from all our bricked boards lol.
That would a sight to see! People would freak out, lol.
Way Cool
Hello Motionsic. I want to outfit one of my plane with the head tracking camera. Do you have a series of “how to” set up the DJI camera&goggles, pan&tilt and be connect it in the plane and how to connect the goggles to you remote?
The youtuber (painless 360) just put out some head tracker videos on his channel. As of my last check there are no commercial head trackers available anymore. But they are relatively easy to build. Hope this gets you pointed in the directing of this rabbit hole.
Good question! I intend to do a setup video using my easy to install, purpose built for DJI FPV pan & tilt camera mount, when it is available for sale, in a couple of months. In the meantime checkout Painless 360 video on the head-tracker. Very straight forward to follow. I tried it myself, too.
@@motionsic DJI camera says 7 -14v. Where do you find this? Seperate batteries?
@@kensummers7757 Yeah! You can either use separate 2s or 3s battery or separate UBEC. On the Mig-29 I used a Matek Duo UBEC with selectable voltage output.
First video I watched in 2023
Yay! Thanks, cheers!
why are the servos blurred?
At the time the gimbal was under patent application, can not be publicized.
Do you see an image with the same quality as this video in your goggles? I suppose it's the same camera?
Yes. It’s the same camera.
@@motionsic but is the quality the same when you watch it live?
@@Quatuux yes, the quality is the same as you see it live.

Thanks! We are just getting started. More to come!
Good now let’s do it with RC cars
@@studiobauhaus7740 like this? ua-cam.com/video/t8V2hdBtPlg/v-deo.html
Who’s flying the plane?
@@motionsic yes but not with that stupid head tracking stuff, Just use an iPad and sync calibrate the camera movement to the steering control so you steer by what you see. Then you can drive RC Cars just like a real race car driver does.
Wow so smooth and it feels like you are flying a real jet
Awesome !! This is what I imagined doing about 20 years ago when I was a kid and had just gotten my first RC plane! I went to the park and I crashed it multiple times lol. Always tried to figure out a way to put a camera on it but the RC (heavy equipment , needed a lot more thrust) and/nor camera technology was just not there yet, at the time (late 90s/early200s). Enjoy that ish !
The RC equipments nowadays are much better than 20 years ago. And flying electric planes are way more convenient vs nitro engine powered ones. It’s a good time to get back in to RC flying😉
Very nice flying; awesome model and a fantastic pan-tilt FPV implementation. Thanks for posting!
Thanks for watching and kind compliments!
I've wondered for years when people smarter than me would figure out a way to do this! Beautiful work!!
Thank you, cheers! I have made a kit for other RC flyers to easily do this if they want. Head-tracking is not new, it was just cumbersome for people to implement and thus not widely used.
@@motionsic What I'd love even more than this, is head tracking on a two camera rig so you have depth perception, and then mount this to an RC submarine of some kind. Then you could observe underwater wild life in ponds and such!
@@JonHuhnMedical that’s no small obstacle to overcome. The digital FPV goggles currently are already pushing limits of low latency high resolution transmission at 1080P 100fps with single video stream. The air unit needs cooling airflow to keep from over-heating which would be difficult in a sub, need fluid cooling. Also probably need tethered transmission. The 5.8gHz Spectrum used for video transmission do not penetrate water much at all, nor the 2.4GHz for RC control. That little request, would take $millions to solve…
@@motionsic Thanks for the detailed response!
Just wait governments make this with attached missile. And the pilot safely controlling far from danger.
Awesome, I love seeing this. It's pretty darn close to flying a fighter jet while saving a few million dollars! Nice flying and nice work, I'm sure you're loving ever minute of it!
Indeed! I am enjoying it immensely. One gets the thrill of flying a fighter jet without risk or exorbitant cost. And enough skin in the game so that it hurts to crash and not like video game or simulator where crash has no consequence. More people join in, the more fun, doing formation, dogfights and such.
@@motionsic Absolutely, I have a couple RC planes, not nearly as cool as yours... most my free-time is related to FPV drones lately though. I'll be installing a camera into a small glider soon though to try out FPV plane flight. Should be a fun project. Cheers!
Super cool! This is what I’ve been dreaming about seeing for quite some time. Glad to see someone actually doing it.
Пилот коут. Смотреть его работу одно удовольствие. Завидую мастерству.
Fabulous Robert, you have this nailed, beautifully handled, great video!! 👌😊
Thank you Matt! Looking forward to your Hawk flying videos.
At very high resolution pixel surround, there is less rotation mechanism lag delay, cam pixel channeling. *Augmented reality* can also simulate an apponent defeated by your VR attacks or retro.
that's Slovak paint scheme! nice !
I always thought of doing this glad I found it
This is how we are going to fly the future fighting aircrafts. Right from your houses.
Wow. Awesome!
Thanks, cheers!
That is lot more interesting than flying a mini plane by looking at it from a distance, far more better than Flight simulator
Better in some ways then simulator, worse in some ways. This is more thrilling since there’s risk of crash when mistakes are made. However, simulator has great detail on working instruments which we can not replicate in RC plane cockpit.
Now you need to put a full auto. 22 with teaser rounds in an a 10 and shoot some toy tanks.
I tried once FPV with my RC Heli, it was much harder for me, as I missed a lot of info.
But you obviously pull it off better. Maybe it's easier on a plane.
Put 2 cameras and make a 3D view :) but it's a lot harder to make it right
This has got to be the coolest thing I see for an RC plane!!. And MiG-29 is my favorite Russian jet
In India this would've been banned and termed as highly advanced military technology!
Then you would make a way that would allow you to install an airsoft components in and start a dogfight
That’s what I’ve always dreamt RC flight should be.
Now I just need to get that 2nd mortgage to cover the costs of the FPV setup and an F-105G kit large enough to handle the equipment. 😁
Taking out a 2nd mortgage is too much risk riding on RC planes. But budgeting to save about 3 grand to buy proper equipment is a worthwhile goal. 1K for the head-tracking FPV gear. 1K for radio and support equipment like charger, tools, etc. 1K for plane and flight batteries. Don’t start out flying the Thud though. Need to go through a couple of training planes like T-28 and T-33 to build proficiency. So budget 4K🙂
Thats is some intelligent work, you just changed the RC industry, hope you patent that, need some led in the dash, Great Work.
Awesome work :) Looks great fun too, practice makes perfect! Do you have a the aircraft's airspeed on your display? Perhaps some time at height to work out the stall speed would help your fast landings... I would also hate flying slow - and its very hard to judge by the looks of the FPV... it might give you a bit of confidence.
Thanks! I don’t have airspeed on this one. I tried putting one with FC into my T-33 but made a polarity mistake on battery sensor, ended up bricking the whole plane. So I am still flying without FC/air speed. Good thing the Mig-29 has super docile slow speed characteristics. Almost as easy to handle as my T-33.
@@motionsic Oh sorry to hear that :( That was a fine model.
avipatable it is flying under the care of a friend. He resurrected the T-33 with new electronics (he had a crashed T-33). It worked out well.
@@motionsic Ah very good! Alls well that ends well :)
That's fkn awesome 🔥
very cool system!!
Thanks, cheers!
*Love it!*
😍🤩😍🤩
Definitely landing a bit hot (This ain't a spitfire! :p), but still, very nicely done! ;)
Thanks Jandro! The Spitfire actually lands at very low speeds, too. But it needs 3 pointer attitude to achieve which means losing sight of the runway below the nose to do. Not easy to do with no inertial feel. Bottom line, need airspeed for landings, like you have.
@@motionsic Yep!
So... thought of iNav/Ardupilot?
Airguardian Still no airspeed, only GPS speed, so I am not so keen on those.
@@motionsic Doesn't ardupilot offer a pitot ? Ewww... I'll stick to analog xD
Is great! I love it!
Canopy glass needs to be more clearer other than that it was awesome.
I agree!
I used to imagine this. Great work.
I don't know the range of this RC, but can you imagine how impactful it is to send 5000 of these toys to Ukraine? if they were equipped with light weapons associated with a battalion trained to fly them, Russian drones would have a short life, same thing for Russian soldiers. Anyway war is total shit, fathers who would watch sons sleep now die in Battlefield and wives cry waiting for the hard life
There are off the shelf equipment that can extend RC range to be combat effective with ranges in the dozens of miles/km. Also this is a scale toy airplane, but same concept can easily be adapted to a airframe that is designed for endurance and carrying loads. So possibilities are there for defense applications. We just want to focus on having fun with RC hobby 🙂
I’ve had thoughts of weird cool stuff like this, so awesome to see someone make something like this a reality.
Very cool idea and looks like it was executed beautifully from the video!
Thanks, cheers!
sorry for my noob question? its this head tracker sync with roll & pitch? what i mean is, if i turn left my head the plane will follow and it will roll left automatically. And if i look up the plane automatically go up?
No. Head-tracker simply controls the FPV camera using head movements - thereby placing the pilot visually inside the cockpit. It does not affect flight controls. Though as pilots we often look into the direction that we want to turn our plane to.
@@motionsic crystal clear. Thank you so much sir. 😘
