Man they really love and respect their wildlife. That farewell was beautiful.
Gordon: My God, He's beautiful.
Eel: Yes chef! thank you chef!
lmao
Is it just me or is this a thrilling thing to see Gordon in lands far away “tickling” an eel and throwing it up on the bank of the river. Then practicing catch and release and letting the monster back into the water for another day. What a fantastic episode!
Incredible sceness
I think it's awesome seeing gordy in my neck of the woods doing what I grew up loving to do. It's an honour to have him here and hope he comes back, top man!
Yep Kimberly I'm from nz and this episode is amazing, wat a big buzz having the G-Man in NZ learning my culture your a cool cat Gordo🤗🥝
Looooove how Gordon impresses each and every host because the hosts respect and celebrate his achievements!!!
what a docile animal
even after getting catapulted out of the water they're acting as if they're mildly annoyed
This brings back memories of catching eels in the creek behind our house in Birdwood Road, Swanson, Auckland, NZ about 1966 ish. Put them in a wet potato sack on the incinerator (44 Gallon drum burning manuka) to smoke them. Verrrrrrrry tasty they were. 62 years old now living in OZ and miss the culture. I am a Pakeha proud and very respectful of the the Maori people and culture.
I am like you. Bought up with cuzzy bro's, i'm Pakeha. Loved eeling in the rivers. Smoked eel is the most beautiful moist meat.
Maori culture is so beautiful ❤️.
Kapai, great piece often wondered how it is done. Good drama, great feed, put it back legendary...
Wow the water is so clean, crystal clear 😍.
love new Zealand i miss my family over there
Damn it's so beautiful there. Looks like heaven.
Us kiwis call it the promised land
Old records say they used to grow to 9ft and you can still find good 6ft specimens put there still.
In the old days, everywhere there were records of animals growing absolutely monstrous. It's fascinating really.
@@aluminumsalmongames6277 Then human's came to existence!
Go to Mount Bruce bird sanctuary, the eels there are freaking massive! As big as you say 6-8 feet long, like dragons!
@@noahharte7334 Jeremy wade did a river monster episode on them and I'm sure he said they used to get to 12ft but this is from cpt. cook so take that as you wish
@@aluminumsalmongames6277 Many of those records were embellishments, but many were not. It's sad really that humans are so voracious that animals can't even get to their maximum size anymore, it's a beautiful and awe inspiring sight to see such massive animals
Love u Gordon...
That looks so fun
Eels are covered in thick mucus, which is why they are so slippery. I bet Gordon immediately regretted giving it a kiss
Gordon has the knack
I'm amazed you kissed him 🤣🤣
Yea bugger that 😂
Why are people so doubtful the eel was wild and real? Have you ever been outside? There are these things called WILD ANIMALS and you can find them in the craziest of places almost as if life has evolved for millions of years to fill every ecological niche on the planet.
Not saying it's fake but I definitely get the suspicion. First of all that's a tiny little creek, it's kinda hard to believe that such a small water area can support such big eels. Second every fish I've ever seen, wild or not, does its best to quickly get away and hide when confronted by a human. The way this eel was just sitting there like it was waiting to be grabbed was very odd.
They prolly used some tuber's juice to make the eel dizzy.
They reach for anything and everything , people are weird
@@sneersh9107 that's NZ eels. They technically have no predators other than humans so they camouflage as sticks rather than run away when a predator is there. They are smart in their habitat. Most of the eels here in NZ grow massive even in small stream systems as they are so adept to even climbing over land to get to new waterways.
Because shows like this fake wildlife scenes all the time. Search up bear grylls behind the scenes, you'll be shocked how often even mundane shots are faked for Tv.
I like how the tickling wasn’t mentionedto him until the 3rd one
3:11 "Tickling the Eel" sounds a bit dirty
that why i love Gordon always do hard work sorry i asian from Malaysia 😁
I just use a hand line with barbless hooks with any sort of meat I have for bait
you let it go: GREAT
only take what you need, We Māori don't take what's not needed
That eel was actually kindda cue
Damn Gordon Ramsey got more balls then some of us Maoris.
the hashtag on the video is unCHATed not unCHARTed
I just had a homemade rod with a plastic pipe hook line and a bit of bait.
"They have teeth, they can bite. But a fellow like you, you'll be alright, though :)"
Try again. That's not exactly what he said.
Yeah...smeagol and deagol hunting eels. And then he sees it.....shining...on the sandy floor.....the one ring.
Is he the voice of that marvel character
Gordon was brave, I would have soiled my shorts.
I soiled my shorts just watching this! Haha
Lol ❤😊😊
There use to be huge eels that weighed 30kg back in the days they were called TANIWHA aka monsters because they were so big
Slippery as a eel
That eel was an actor .
no
Looks like those eels have been sedated for the shooting
Where's his hinaki?
That is not how I used to catch them with my hands lol
And that is how you treat animals take only what's necessary to eat and let the rest live to reproduce and if it's really old leave it alone
He is just one of Lucky basterds
Learning new skill daily
Im korg, this is meek
If you have ever been here you know that there are plenty of eels here everyone catches them in our local rivers they’re easy if you know what you’re doing.. there’s also fresh water crayfish in there as well some fish it’s really fun
omg there's a typo in the tag it said "#unchated" LMAOOO
edit: oh this is just a really well made fake channel
how come they didn't get shocked by the eel?
Its not an electric eel, so no shocks. Electric eels don't live in New Zealand and aren't real eels
It's like trout tickling.
Where the giant Moa birds
dead
What a skirt!!
Why the hell don't he just grap the eel.
Atleast actually watch the video. There's many ways to catch it but he's trying to do it the traditional Maori way
Gordon feeling bored of restaurant so he going to hangout
Dat sidat it, fukin expensive fish dude 😎👌
I'm afraid of that creature
Where’s the cooking aspect of this episode?🤔
you're cooked
Im pretty sure the eel was already dead. It didnt even move a bit when gordon did the thing
It was alive. That's just what NZ eels do
poor eel look how tired tired that eel then put back in the water pretending gordon personally catch it what a shame
what, you saw him catch tf you talking about
Those are lamprey not eels; the two are wholly unrelated.
@@angelconstantino6551 Lampreys have suckers exactly as described by the New Zealand guide, eel have fully developed jaws among other differences.
Oh, I almost forgot - lmao.
@Muffinconsumer4 "They'll travel up that waterfall; they've got a mouth that just suctions on to it.." This tells you everything you need to know, and look to the pictures showing the mouth. Eels have jaws and snake-like heads, and despite the popular confusion between the two eels and lampreys are unrelated. But rather jaw, jaw, jaw why don't you spend a few minutes and learn the difference?
Oh yeah, lmao...
@Muffinconsumer4 You're right. lmao
@Muffinconsumer4 I missed an obvious point, I was wrong.
They just put the eel it's not naturally there. Because you can see the White part on the tip of its mouth which indicate that the eel was put in the net.
Eels are naturally found in water like that, we have them everywhere here.
Thats not what new zealand looks like lmao… maybe ive been living in the city far too long
You've definitely been in the city too long lmao🤣
Doesn’t even fight 😂 so staged
thats just how nz eel are... would know that if you actually lived in nz... btw i live here...
Haha the eel has telltale signs of bumping against the glass of a store fish tank. Well it's not surprising these catches are mostly staged.
Come to New Zealand bruv, I'll show you this is all natural... Kia ora
Erm…??? The shop ones don’t look that fresh bro. They’re plentiful in clean streams like that.
r/whoosh
Lmao no you can find eels everywhere this definitely isn’t a store eel
Northernside can't even spell his own username right and he's talking mad shit
How small is gordon’s anaconda😅??
Where is the real Māori tho?! These are some straight up culture culture white boys that got an English accent. lol tf!!
You better watch that tongue boy, you don't need to be brown or black to be Māori, you tauiwi don't have the right to judge who is and isnt a ''real' Māori. don't you dare comment shit like this about people and culture you clearly know nothing about... and btw im Māori... and this comment is extremely disrespectful and arrogant. educate yourself before making a comment like this again...
Haere rā
that man is of Māori decent, don't you dare think you have the authority to dictate who is a ''real'' Māori... also thats a kiwi accent, the fact you called that an english accent clearly shows you know nothing about our home Aotearoa...
Māori used a spear to catch them as well with a spikey end
lol what kind of spear isnt got a sharp end?
Topman gordo n.z eastcoast north island 🦌
