I think mine were 17 bucks Canadian for a box of 3 fans, the black frame ones with RGB. They're pretty cheap. You can get all-black ones with no RGB lights even cheaper than that, maybe 15-16 bucks Canuck for 3 fans.
I like this series of ARGB fans because they also have a 120mm reversed AND a 120mm 15mm slim and 140mm in both black and white that all match. They also have 5 packs that are even cheaper per fan. In my white PC, I needed 2x 120mm slim fans, 3x reverse 120mm, 4x standard 120mm and 1x 140mm to mod the PSU. This let me keep everything uniform across my PC, and didn’t break the bank 👍 Also, they have these in the original 1550rpm version and an updated 1500rpm V2/V3. The 1500rpm versions seem to have improved the “creaky” low speed noise
PWM stands for pulse width modulation. That is how a static voltage is used to modulate how fast the fan is moving. Moving at slower speeds the power is going on for a second or two and off for a second or two. At the highest speeds it is constantly on. Everything in the middle is variable frequencies of on and off. That pulsing is making the noise as the motor is accelerating and idling.
I just installed 6 of these to replace my decade old Corsair SP120's after reading great reviews. I am very impressed for the price however that motor noise you spoke of is driving me crazy and is very noticeable at all RPMs. I wish I came across this video sooner because now I have to untangle this mess I made. 🤣

Well my name is now on UA-cam. When I 1st saw these I did a double take & decided to get a pack. Local school had a sick computer which needed a new case so after playing with the fans I decided to put them in the case. Set the profile for 750 rpm-1100rpm after some testing they worked & looked great. After I took it back is where the problems started, everyone wanted to use this computer. Have done 3 more since then, they all have the same case, 3 of these fans each & an extra 3 pack if any fail. It's been 7 weeks-3weeks with zero problems & I've have them in my backup system for 7 weeks running 24-7 with zero problems (6 fans). Quirky below 650rpm & above 1375rpm it's like the hub is moving in & out just very little, that is the only way I can describe the very slight sound. If you want some air run 750rpm & above. I have 2-3packs in reserve for $30.00 it's a no brainier without killing the wallet. Mike did I send you enough money, I forgot about the GBP vs USD! Great review & have a fantastic week.
Just installed 6 in my O11 Dynamic. Luckily for me, mine do not make any noise like yours, low or high RPM. At low RPM, they are virtually silent. Performance is great too.
@@purevessel5159Same question here. I heard you shouldn't connect more than 1 case fan to a single 12V PWM mobo header. How will I know if the daisy-chaining is drawing too much power for the header?
Your channel is a goldmine for these cheaper fans. Just subscribed. What are your favorite budget fans so far, for both RG and non-RGB, which actually provide airflow?
these are probably up there with the best of them, especially at this price. if you want to spend more the arctic p12 argb 0 db are awesome or the thermaltake ct120 ct140
I bought an expensive case and needed 10 argb fans to fill it and these were perfect, great since I got the thermal right 360mm cpu AIO cooler too so they match
what motherboard do you have? does it have an ARGB controller on it? if so you need to install the software to control it from the motherboard manufacturers site
There are two versions of bearings, if the bearings are V2, then they are the updated model and make less noise. thats for all thermaltake fans. but for $3.60 per fan for the non rgb version, when I need 9 fans, thats under the cost of a single "good" fan, ill take them.
Nice, but since you're being super critical, why didn't you say anything about Sound Dampening in the Pc case? Nothing about the rubber on the fans to help reduce noise when installed in a case.
That is a valid point although I find with most fans that have rubber dampers when you screw the screws in tight it sort of diminishes the chance of any real dampening as the rubber is under too much compression and the fan frame is touching the case anyway
These fans are VERY quiet. The little rubber corner pads don't touch the metal case in my own system because of the shape of the case holes, so I just have the plastic fan frames touching the metal case. They are still absolutely silent at my idle speed of about 600 RPM and I just start to hear them at around 1,000 RPM. Very quiet indeed. I don't know why this dude is making such a big bloody deal over them--they are really quiet fans. They're also really cheap, so it's anybody's guess if they're going to run for 5 years or if you have to replace them after every 6 months :)
£12 for a pack of three? I just bought 2 sets. I hadn't planned on doing RGB on my build, but 6 rgb fans and an RGB Phantom Spirit CPU cooler for 50 quid? Can't argue with that
Hi there, thanks for this great review. i have actually purchased a set of the white version. I was wondering if you knew if these fans speeds can be adjusted? As they are only 3 pin I cant find a way of adjusting the speeds and so they are set on max and are rather loud? I have tried in the BIOS but there is no option to change the speed from there and also third party apps, again to no avail? Any help would be super, THanks again
These are REALLY cheap. They're also *really* quiet, the rotors appear well-balanced and they don't vibrate or wobble as they spin. They run nice and smooth and are almost impossible to hear at idle speeds (maybe 500-800 RPM) with 3 of these fans running. The RGB looks cool too and when you're bored with gaming and/or Web browsing you can continue to enjoy wasting your time porking around with the RGB lights :) Not much else you can say about case fans! They're a pretty rudimentary part of your machine. These ones are very cheap and seem rather good!
i need to try these again, mine had a definite noise to them when tested, but a lot of people say they are silent, and i couldn't have had 3 faulty ones surely

I bought a set of 3 black non-ARGB TL-C12C's for £12.99 to replace 3-pin fans fitted to cases - quite why manufacturers still fit 3-pin fans in new cases is anyone's guess?! I have the TL-C12C's speed set to 20-60% between 20-40 Celsius and they do hum while ramping up & down - but only IF the fan speed transition timing is less than 5 seconds (ASUS Fan Xpert software / A320M-K / Ryzen 5 1500X / 16GB RAM).
how are you adjusting the speeds of the fans? I cant seem to manually adjust the speeds through neither BiOS or third party apps, they seem to be locked on high speed.
Fan control software or m/board settings should work, as long as they are plugged into a PWM (4-pin) header. It may depend on the connection type in the m/board settings. Mike should have a video showing how to set them up.
I've got six of these that I'm trying to set up using my B450 Pro Carbon Gaming MB and I'm not sure how to get it done. I figured that I could just link them all together and use and power them all but I'm not having any luck. Can I daisy chain all 6 into one 4 pin power supplier and link all 6 RBG lines into my RGB pins on my board?
@@mikesunboxing Well in my country, The Arctic ones cost only 2 dollars more than the 3 pack version of the Thermalright ones. Which one has better cable management?
@@_fiftyseven_ the arctic fans have the wires coming out in two places which is a bit weird but they also support ARGB gen2 so when daisy chained they make one big length of RGB rather than individual fans all doing the same
Bought these about 2 weeks ago (so before this vid). Sent them back for the exact problem you describe - a mechanical ticking / clicking noise at low speeds. No good for a low pwm / low noise desktop setting I'm afraid.
the thermalright one is pretty good and best of all cheap, but it is a hub not a controller so will need to be connected to the motherboards fan and argb headers
These fans work perfectly with it. I use RGB Fusion 2.0 with 3 of these fans, works great and looks cool. There are other RGB programs though that will let you create all kinds of custom lighting effects with these fans, RGB Fusion uses only pre-"canned" light patterns. Still, RGB Fusion is fine for me and does what I need. If you're interested, I'm using the Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite AX V2 motherboard, but RGB Fusion 2.0 should work identically in any other fairly recent Gigabyte mobo.
Would it be safe to daisy chain 4 of these into one fan and ARGB header? My motherboard has a 1.0A max amperage fan header and 4 of these fans consume 0.80A. i know it is on paper But just asking to make sure. Thanks Mike
you can't for the lighting sorry without an adapter but it will still onlyt work as a 12v rgb no addressable effects, better to get the gamemax argb hub with controller, we did a video on it
3-pin ARGB connectors are usually for fans. You have to have a 3-pin connector on your motherboard for RGB fans. The 4-pin connector is a "generic" RGB power source and is usually used for LED light strips and the like. If you want to run 3-pin ARGB stuff using a 4-pin motherboard port then you will need some kind of adapter or converter. I have never used one myself.
Hmm now Im conflicted. Other reviews state they arent noisy, some Amazon reviews state exactly what youre saying that they rattle and yikes no thanks... I was interested in buying a set of 3 combined the the Assassin King or Spirit which seems to have the same fan on it but that one didnt rattle? You did review the cpu cooler variant too but I dont remember you saying that one made much noise.
I think they have eight LEDS, and they are individually addressable. So, you can program your own custom spinning-light effects if you want using the RGB software of your choice (as long as said software is capable of it.)
as Airflow fans for this price great but for water cooling on a radiator with only 1.5mm H2O not much pressure for it maybe buy two packs and run it push pull.
I have 3 on my radiator and my amd 7800 x3d is running 37c idle and max it ever goes is 53c while gaming nothing wrong with these fans put some more expensive ones to shame

The arctic fans are much quieter and better quality but more expensive
@@mikesunboxing Well in my country, The Arctic ones cost only 2 dollars more than the 3 pack version of the Thermalright ones. Which one has better cable management?
@@_fiftyseven_ the arctic fans have the wires coming out in two places which is a bit weird but they also support ARGB gen2 so when daisy chained they make one big length of RGB rather than individual fans all doing the same
@@mikesunboxing Thanks for the help!
great video bro, wich fans do you recomend ?? budget ones, thanks
i would be looking at maybe the arctic argb p12 if you can find them at a sensible price
@@mikesunboxing great thanks
Bought these about 2 weeks ago (so before this vid). Sent them back for the exact problem you describe - a mechanical ticking / clicking noise at low speeds. No good for a low pwm / low noise desktop setting I'm afraid.
yep cheap for a reason
i get whirring sound ..very annoying
could you recommend an argb fan controller hub? i will be using 5 of these fans
the thermalright one is pretty good and best of all cheap, but it is a hub not a controller so will need to be connected to the motherboards fan and argb headers
@@mikesunboxing if three are daisy chained am I able to connect it to one argb header ?
Work with rgb fusion?
yes they will
@@mikesunboxing with signal rgb?
These fans work perfectly with it. I use RGB Fusion 2.0 with 3 of these fans, works great and looks cool. There are other RGB programs though that will let you create all kinds of custom lighting effects with these fans, RGB Fusion uses only pre-"canned" light patterns. Still, RGB Fusion is fine for me and does what I need.
If you're interested, I'm using the Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite AX V2 motherboard, but RGB Fusion 2.0 should work identically in any other fairly recent Gigabyte mobo.
Is there a rgb software for them? I can’t seem to get the rgb to work but they are plugged in correctly do I need to buy a controller?
any motherboard software will work as long as your motherboard has a ARGB header on it
Would it be safe to daisy chain 4 of these into one fan and ARGB header? My motherboard has a 1.0A max amperage fan header and 4 of these fans consume 0.80A. i know it is on paper But just asking to make sure. Thanks Mike
yeah 3 or 4 is usually okay for me
@@mikesunboxing Thanks again Mike. Love the content
Are the Thermalright TL-C12RB-S ARGB the same as these but with a reverse blade?
yes pretty much, bit louder though due to the reverse blade arrangement
How many LEDs does this fan have in the argb?
not sure sorry 12 maybe?
I just got these today. But some reason getting no rgb but the speeds seem great
glad you like them
@mikesunboxing yep after couple hours i managed get rgb on 🤣 i only had 1 rgb header on modo so needed to recanle all fans around and link up
@@simonleonard3686 Glad you got it working 🙂
is that there is the daisy chain ?
you can daisy chain these for argb
How do I connect these to the RGB controller in my case?
join our discord and post some pictures of the case and what is there already
My MOBO has a single jRGB 4 pin connector. How do I connect the 3 pin the Thermalright TL C12C S to the 4 pin?
you can't for the lighting sorry without an adapter but it will still onlyt work as a 12v rgb no addressable effects, better to get the gamemax argb hub with controller, we did a video on it
3-pin ARGB connectors are usually for fans.
What software do you use to change
/control the rgb ?
msi center on pc or the gamemax rgb controller with remote control for outside of pc
Are the reverse fans for these daisy chainable
not sure sorry, but i would think so
For those cooler i cant find argb port on my x79 pro v3.1. motherboard where is it and if id doesnt have where can i connect argb cables
You need a separate argb controller /hub like the gamemax v4 we reviewed
Hmm now Im conflicted. Other reviews state they arent noisy, some Amazon reviews state exactly what youre saying that they rattle and yikes no thanks... I was interested in buying a set of 3 combined the the Assassin King or Spirit which seems to have the same fan on it but that one didnt rattle? You did review the cpu cooler variant too but I dont remember you saying that one made much noise.
it was loud at higher rpm's or when open air, when there is static back pressure they seem better noise wise, but lose a lot of airlfow
good deal 👍
How do i daisy chain the power? Cause it’s 3 pin and the power is 4 pin
Both leads are able to daisy chain, both the pwm signal and the addressable RGB connection
@@mikesunboxing yeah I just plugged all of them with each other and hoped it would work and it did 🤣
@@KrutGemByte Happy to hear that 🙂
do these fans work with the asus rog strix b450f gaming 2 motherboard?
Yes they should be able to
is there software that comes with these fans? whats the name of the software?
nope no software just use 5v header on your Mainboard or if you dont have it buy a 5v RGB Controller From Thermaltake or Razer and use their software.
@@youknowme2003how do i use the 5v fan header on my motherboard?
@@drig_10 5v ARGB Header you mean? Well just plug your Fans ARGB Cable into the header and controll it via your Motherboards RGB Software
Hey are these compatible with the MSI PRO B760-P WIFI DDR4 ATX LGA1700 Motherboard?
yes they are
@@mikesunboxing Thanks 🤝
Case fans are an industry-standard item. They're pretty much compatible with any and every motherboard under the sun.
How many LEDs in each fans
Can you do a installation guide please
sure i'll see what i can do
Installation guide?
1) Mount fans in case with included screws
2) Plug in fan cables and configure fan speed curves
3) Done!
@@mikesunboxing I'm a bit late, but I did it for you
@@devilsoffspring5519 yeah super late. 💀
Are these compatible with the Asus TUF GAMING Z790?
Yes they are
How many LEDs per fan? I can’t find this description anywhere. Unprofessional by the company to leave it off their product page.
it looks like eight to me, but could be wrong
I think they have eight LEDS, and they are individually addressable. So, you can program your own custom spinning-light effects if you want using the RGB software of your choice (as long as said software is capable of it.)
as Airflow fans for this price great but for water cooling on a radiator with only 1.5mm H2O not much pressure for it maybe buy two packs and run it push pull.
I have 3 on my radiator and my amd 7800 x3d is running 37c idle and max it ever goes is 53c while gaming nothing wrong with these fans put some more expensive ones to shame
Are these THERMALRIGHT TL-C12C-S compatible with a Gigabyte H610M S2H DDR4?
no, that motherboard doesn't have an ARGB header
I need a fan hub to use 9 fans of this fans?
yes probably one hub and a splitter, most combo hubs are 8 port
can you turn off the lights?
yeah either don't plug them in or in the argb software you are using
I just bought these and they dont do that sound. Maybe your fan bracket was vibrating. Or maybe they were wrong... most of cheap fans have low QC
yeah i need to order another set at some point, a lot of comments have been confirming my issue and lots have said theirs were okay. So likely a QC or batch issue i think
@@mikesunboxing I just got another set and 2 of them makes that rotor/rattling sound. Not very noticeable but in a quiet room it's a bit annoying.
Does anyone know what the spectate to change speed and rgb is
do you mean software? if so you use the motherboard software if connected to a motherboard
I bought these after my Corsair ll120s were getting old and tbh There is no performance difference and I don't hear that noise there virtually silent for the money U can't beat them , more expensive doesn't mean better most of the time your paying for the name , I have 9 of these fans in my pc running a amd 7800 x3d and a rx 7900 xt and it keeps my pc lovely and cool and I can tell you from my rig there very quiet non of the noise in this video what so ever
i still need to order some more of these, a few people have said similar things about a new V2 type fan
Hey man I watch ur videos I’m a new subscriber I have a pc but I have trouble running most games because of I don’t have a gpu is there any way I could have some tips on how to get my hands on a gpu I’m 14

My rgb on the fan isn’t working?? Can someone help me?
Are you plugging the argb plug into a suitable port?
Anyone know a RGB hub that works with these I’ve got no rgb header on my motherboard
The gamemax one we reviewed years ago will and has a handy remote for changing the leds

I find the TL-C12B-S V3 quieter and better than the TL-C12C-S. Price is about the same.
Hi. I will be using 10 of these on my new build. Which thermalright brand of hub should I use? This is what they recommended B09CH13K2M. But I noticed it’s the fan is 4pin. That hub is 3pin. Should I instead use this since it’s 4 pins B0C65DKW1X?
that is fine for the ARGB lighting but you will need a hub for the PWM speeds if you don't have enough motherboard headers
Thank you! Since the hub has 10 ports. Do I need to use the splitter? Or do I connect individual fans to the hub?
are these compatible with a b450m ds3h wifi?
yes they are
