@@iloveart9444 a perfectionist is still normal, that's just because you WANT everything to be perfect. Ocd starts when it's getting unhealthy to the point that you can't help/control it, you NEED it to be perfect. You have to clean, arrange everything because your mind doesn't let you leave it. Monica has ocd, it's pretty obvious since it has kept her awake sometimes.

I honestly feel like Monica is a perfectionist because of her parents, her parents never really paid attention to her because they were too busy with their baby ross, think about it, In the episode with Monica’s new Porche, Her parents used Monica’s childhood boxes to block a leak, they hugged Ross every visit, and Monica had to ASK them so they NOTICED her, and seriously, everybody thinks Monica’s cleaning obsessed for no reason, there’s a reason for everything, and Jack and Judy Geller are that reason!

Actually, she has OCPD. They are very similar, but difference between them is that one with OCD is usually aware that something is wrong and want to fix it because of the terrible images and feelings that come with it. One with OCPD does NOT want to change and sees their actions as helpful and efficient. They are usually very controlling and in some cases hoarders (explains Monica’s junk room)

Because whether OCD or OCPD, I'm very much interested about "how much acting" Courteney Cox had to exert in order to effectively portray someone with an OCPD (if that's the case) such as Monica. I think the reason why Monica is such a perfectionist and a competitive type of individual is because of how her and Ross were treated differently, maybe she thinks that if she's always the best at everything and everything she does has to be perfect, she would feel appreciated because that's something that she never had from her parents since childhood.

Same. I can't deny Richard and Monica had great chemistry. But around Chandler, Monica didn't have to be self-conscious about anything. Chandler already knew everything about her even if she tried to hide it at times I felt like given her childhood, she needed to be in a relationship where she might have more say. And Chandler didn't have a problem with giving way to her. They both accepted each other in every way.

Yeah its definitely ocd or ocpd, you can tell because of the high anxiety she gets when things aren't 'just right'... Also, she ruminates on things if she can't do it and obsesses how she can get it done without her friends finding out, expressing as shame, guilt and a fixation on the desirable goal to reduce her anxiety....
