I LOVE these old British films SO MUCH! Always so well done!
Born in 1957. My parents named me Wendy. Mom was insistent it wasn't because of Peter Pan's dear friend Wendy. They didn't know where their inspiration came from. It seems they weren't the only ones so inspired. There were 6 Wendys in the 2 first grade classes in my tiny Minnesota town. We moved to a bigger town between 2nd and 3rd grades and not another Wendy in sight until Oregon high school had 2 others.
A lot of kids thought it had to be a nickname of Gwendolyn or Guinevere or even Gwen which it traditionally is. Nope. Just Wendy. They thought if fit in well with the syllables etc with my 3 big sister's names. My son was named Ryan. His name contained letter combinations from my sister's names.
