I needed to learn of her research into other countries. It certainly has spurned me to dip into more in terms of seeking other places to live in this climate of the US…
When her first album came out with the image of her face as a little girl I realized that she lived down the street from me and as an adult she came to my job to get copies of her picture when she was doing spoken word in Philly. Then I realized we used to ride public transportation together. She would wear a black top hat and a black body suit. A couple of years later I met her through a friend and she recognized me from riding the bus although we had never spoken to each other. She greeted me saying "You're the 33 Lady!" She was down to Earth then and it seems that she has remained that way.
Her first Album was Who is Jill Scott?
Everything about her is so beautiful: The cadence of her voice, the inflection of her voice, the truth, honesty and passion in her voice. Her smile….. 😍

Jill sang a song I hadn’t heard.
She said “I can bring home the bacon, pay all the bills, but I don’t want to! I’m tired! I want some help!”
That was the most “true human” statement I ever heard from a modern soul singer and it just resonated with me.
I thought it was bold and courageous.

My husband and I went to her last concert before the lock down. She told us to savor that moment, because we never know when we will be together like that again. It was literally the next day or two and the World shut down!!!! Thank you for that Jill because sweet love was made!!! 😜❤️

It was the summer of 2001 and I was not hip to Jill Scott. There was a concert in Detroit featuring Erykah Badu, Macy Gray, Sunshine Anderson, and Jill Scott. I was already an Erykah Badu fan and excited to see her. I believe it was Sunshine that was not able to make it so they brought on Jill early. OMG Jill Scott took us on a ride that I have not got off since! This woman is amazing. One of those artists you can listen to every song on the album. She writes and sings from a real place which is rare in today's music. And she is a great actress!

I remember when Jill Scott would come on the radio on Temple University radio (the show is called "The Bridge" with J. Michael Harrison. The show still comes on. PLEASE check it out) she would do her poetry WAY before the debut album came out. My mom (R.ise I.n P.ower) would listen & I'll never forget I told my that she's going to be big. Low & behold we got "Jilly From Philly". ❤ me some her.
Getting the back story on Crown Royal is amazing. I finally saw her live in Newark, NJ and my grin, and heart matched through the whole performance.She is worldly and loving.

I was 15 when Jill came out and my mom bought us tickets to go see her on her first tour…..I got put on punishment bc I lied about being out with my boyfriend and she didn’t let me go…I WAS DEVASTATED. Now I seen Jill plenty of times, but I’m still salty I didn’t get to see baby Jill. Now my 15 year old daughter is singing her album cuts🥹….can’t wait to take her to the Roots Picnic bc it will be EPIC!!!

Glad I watched until the very end, I sensed this was recorded a little while ago (2021). As a day one, it is always a pleasure hearing Jill speak. Beautifully Human is my personal favorite. It was stunning to learn that she was dealing with so much anxiety and near resistance to fame during that period in her career. Her response re: why Crown Royal is so short "its all I had to say" LOL! Priceless. I will be a life long fan. 💗

I just celebrated my 50th last year at the Aruba soul fest and experienced Jill Scott live front row! It was absolutely amazing! Then to top it off, she was actually on my plane ride home! Love my some Jill!

Sometimes it feels the interviewer is not actually taking in Jill’s oh so beautiful responses - I know she’s listening, but the way she just bluntly cuts to the next question. Feels more from her head than her heart. Thankfully we could listen to Jilly talk allllll day so that carried it. Loved this!💜

She is amazing in concert and I was at the feb 2020 one at radio city. It wad my first time seeing her. She was barefoot and singing her heart out. All cultures and colors was there. And it was beautiful ❤ it was a month before covid shut down!
