I gained so much respect for SVG, made a mistake but instead of wrecking Buscher (which he could’ve) he took his medicine and had a good finish. I was so impressed by that.
A smile afterwords- very refreshing!
such a good sport he's always got a smile on his face no matter what he does he's just enjoying every minute of it whether he wins it all or makes mistake and shows the highest respect that I barely saw from anyone today he's the real deal
Yes, so many other drivers would have turned him instead.
I swear through 6 and 7 he went drifting for a second
Kinda embarrassing that the cup regulars don’t have that amount of respect for one another.

The fact that Denny Hamlin finished 23rd despite wrecking twice, just shows how insane and chaotic this race was.
I was surprised he finished at all
I rather enjoyed seeing th12 on the hook so early. Also, the playoff contenders that just couldn't put it together. That was my race highlight of the GLEN.
Hacklin got two free laps because of the lucky dog rule.

I feel like Alex Bowman played an extremely smart race. He gathered points the 1st 2 stages then knew everyone was going to be stupid at the end so he raced smart and just wanted to finish the laps. Everyone said he would be out round one. So he’s calling bluffs and I’m here for it
This 💯

Buscher definitely could have punted SVG and chose to keep it classy. Solid finish today
This was my 4th time at Watkins Glen. Leading up to the race, I knew the racing at road courses hasn’t been the greatest with the next Gen, but spending a weekend in Watkins Glen is always worth it. But man was I glad I went this weekend! From Zilisch’s masterful debut to one of the best Watkins Glens races and finishes, it was a great nascar weekend!
I really like how SvG has consistently shown his ability to move someone without wrecking them. I think that builds some trust in the field that “Yes, he will move you for a win, but he won’t wreck you for it”
Tyler Reddick irrelevant all day was shocking
Hey now, Eric said he was the best the last video! Hahahahaha
He never recovered from the first wreck his was involved in... Stuck back in the muck! 😡
Same with Larson
@@stetsonclark8348he still ran better than Reddick. I don’t think he even cracked the top 15
Had contact and sent spinning in turn one. Damaged the car afterwards
The non playoff drivers performed better than the playoff drivers
Ross always does well once he can no longer win a championship. Won at Phoenix last year despite not being in the final 4. And he did great at Atlanta until the OT, won the pole and had a top 5 finish at the Glen. Wouldn’t be shocked if he wins or at least does well on the Bristol concrete this weekend.
Tbf, Chris Buescher won THREE races last year before the playoff picture. He got struck by bad luck this year. The same thing with Ross and Bubba. Three playoff drivers that had great runs not making it this year shows how rotten of luck they had.
He was the non playoff driver who won a playoff race two years ago as well 😂
This announcer is exciting I don’t know where he is from but we need to keep this man. Svg no matter how his day goes he is smiling. He loves racing. He is respectful. I am looking forward to next season

Fox’s best season ever marketing was 3 years early with how this year is going 😂
I’m good with the Fox coverage, the NBC/USA second half sucks.
@@larry648i cant be asked with Fox Sports too many commercials and missing half the racing

@@larry648what are you watching? fox has been fucken awful

Fox was good this year But NBC/USA coverage is better
Tbh with you FOX i cant stand too many commercials and missing half the race so i mute the tv and turn on radio.
NBC has better production quality and better coverage and when they go to commercials im fine with that
But when fox goes to commercials i am like half asleep
I’m baffled by the fact everyone is thinking you’re talking about race coverage instead of the actual “best season ever marketing” you mentioned.
But when they were using that marketing strategy I was confused on why fox picked that season to crown it the best season ever before a single flag dropped. Was it because Harvick, KFB, and MTJ were still prominent and competitive while the sport was having a resurgence in young guys and new blood? As a very avid fan at first I was thinking finishes, results, and just races in general were going to be fixed to fit the marketing but as time went on i realized it was in fact not the best season ever..
The Xfinity series race yesterday ran for so long that while listening to it I checked out of a grocery store with my boyfriend, walked 3 miles to a train out of New York City, rode that train for an hour and 20 minutes, drove 30 minutes home and still caught the final restart
I didn't watch the race, but when I saw the crash involving the 24 and the 6 on the thumbnail, I was shocked. Byron proped on top of Keslowski is crazy. Great video.

Suarez spun out because of a loose wheel from the pit stop he just had. Parker Kligerman in the pits showed the wear marks on the inside of that tire after they replaced it.
As a Ross Chastain fan, this year has been painful. He finally had a dominant car and he was gapping svg at one point. Then his own teammate just spun out and screwed it all up. I like Ross and SVG so I was really happy today. I wanted a melon smash so bad today though. He dominated the first half of the race. 💔
Man me too I wore my wwex racing sweatsuit had my busch beers 🍻 to spray the backyard and then goes Daniel to spin out but overall was still a decent finish and great battle back into the top 10 to end the race
I don’t have favorite drivers I like most and just want good races. Ross has come a long ways the last year and a half. Even though he didn’t win this season yet I think his driving has gotten better and a lot cleaner
Chastain is my third favorite driver behind Larson and Blaney and I was wanting him to win so bad
@@AlanpittsS2aYa he's been more consistent this season but man it sucks he hasn't won at all this season
You think those spin outs are accidental 😂 NASCAR makes sure every race ends with a caution green white, haven’t you noticed 😂
I like how the early forgotten storyline of this season was how ford was struggling again despite the new car and now arguably they're the best OEM in cup and should be the favorites to win the championship at Phoenix
That story line was so dumb. They were in contention so many times but just didn't win. Too many people spoke about Ford like they were 1 sec/lap slower every race.
They just couldn't catch a break. That is all. Sure they had to tweak some things but the talk was too much.
Nah, the storyline regarding OEMs should be on Chevy and their refusal to bring a replacement to the Camaro and handicapping their teams lol
@@BladeBrigade7what would they replace the Camaro with? Malibu? Impala? Lmao those are lame
@@Atari2600Gamer Did you forget oems ran sedans for the longest time?
Only recently did they use sports cars again
Hell the camry is a great example
Besides Chevy is putting every team aside from HMS (deep pockets) at a major disadvantage, since the OEM cannot modify the car's shell anymore, so it's up to the teams to spend big to research every inch of the car to find speed
They look dominant potentially now. Be shocked if they don’t potentially win the title.
Watching road courses as a BK6 fan is actual physical torture. I watched his in car for the entire race and we legitimately were just slow like gosh. I literally could not take reading “Buy Bioethanol” for the millionth time while running behind Austin Dillon 😭😭 he’s still within 12 points and I think Brad can easily overcome that at Bristol
He was actually going to have a decent result until that Joey Logano crash.
Yet he somehow ended up 8 spots shreds of Byron.
While I don’t think it’s gonna happen, I would be up for Brad Keselowski pulling off a Terry Labonte.
Groovey Gauge 80% is Spot On. Eric, good call on Buescher finishing in top 10; first place falls in that range. :) I was happy to see Buescher nail this road course.
I was at the race man it was great time. Felt so bad for SVG but made a mistake and Buescher capitalized on that mistake. Great job for Mister Buescher.
That finish between the 17, 16, 77, and 1 was awesome. All 3 restarts!
They looked like the were having a blast!
Awesome race and finish, and Chris has gotten a win every year and I think at every type of track, Short, Super, Intermediate, and now Road
i had to read this twice because i thought i was confused. not true. buescher won in 2016. and he didn't win again until 2022. 6 wins. 2 short track (Bristol and Richmond), a road course, 2 superspeedway tracks and Michigan. so again. false. no 1.5 mile wins, no flat track wins. so he hasnt won on every type of track
@@ireneasare9552 Michigan isnt a intermediate?

Superising to see SVG actually make a mistake. Especially for being a really good nascar road course driver!
Arguably still might be the best, top 5 in both races this weekend racing at the Glen for the first time
Wasn't he on onder tires? Could have played a role. Not taking anything away from Chris. He was there to take advantage of the mistake. Congrats!
He is a good road course driver but the top level of nascar is a higher level than super cars
He’s actually clipped the inside wall of a corner a few times this season. Did it at Chicago. SVG is probably still getting used to the dimensions of the car. Remember he is used to driving on the opposite side of the car. Will take a little while before it becomes second nature. All the wall contact I’ve seen him make this season has been on the right-hand side of the car. Switching between xfinity and cup cars all the time wouldn’t make it any easier.
@@christianfehr8652😂 kidding yourself. AU Supercars are specialist roadcourse drivers, Nascar are amateurs in comparison. On ovals then obviously the roles are reversed
Hey Eric, since you're rockin' the Matt Kenseth garb in this episode, got a fun story for you! Stopped by a hobby shop on my way back from Springfield, Missouri, and on the discount table, there sat an HO scale Matt Kenseth #17 boxcar for $1! You can bet I picked it up, too! It needs a bit of work to get riding the rails again, but the main body and frame is in great shape!
Okay, that aside, that finish was insane! Lee said it perfectly, this finish was Marcos Ambrose vs Brad Keselowski 2.0! Shoutout to SVG for racing clean and not dumping Buscher when he had the chance!

That was an awesome race. Awesome call by Leigh once again. Leigh is way better than Rick Allen with these calls imo. His calls are very smooth and organized. Rick Allen during these moments do come through at times but other times it seems like he would stumble his words.

Look at Cindric sitting in 3rd position and Suarez 5th. I'm still going Penske 3 in a row 😮
First time since 2013 (Edwards & Biffle) for both RFK cars
This race finish definitely had shades of 2012. I loved it, despite the overtime chaos.
Edit: I'd also like to point out that almost every single race since the Olympic break has been no lower than 70%. And that's saying something. Maybe that reset was all we needed.
Chastain and SVG had a 13 second gap on the rest of the field, and they got screwed by teammate Suarez getting stuck in the sand with the caution right before they were going to pit. Gave Beuscher and Hocevar the advantage with tires and fuel
Suarez split a rim, commentators seemed to be saying due to a loose lug and rubbing on the brake
@@paulsdogwalkingWhy I love and hate the single lug design. Makes pit stops faster, but it also leads to weird issues.

For those of you who have never attended a NASCAR Cup race I have some advise for you. Try your darndest to go to at least one race. I have been to a grand total of 4 Cup races (all 1 mile or less) and I'll tell you the the advantage of being there live. I'm a Brad Keselowski fan and not only watched him 90% of the time at Bristol, I listened exclusively to the radio between him and his spotter. It was amazing to watch him pass car after car, gaining over 10 spots in the first stage, going from 22nd to 12th. I suspect that during this time he wasn't even mention on tv, nor was the camera on him. A Cup car is about 12 feet long and I watched Brad gain 1 foot every lap on the car in front of him, no more, no less. One foot every lap, consistent as hell. He did this with 10 cars in a row, gaining 1 foot every lap for over 100 laps. I found this fascinating. If you attend the race and get a scanner, you can follow your driver the entire race without depending on the tv broadcast crew to keep you updated as to how your driver is doing.
The problem with TV is sometimes they'll show the leader driving on his own for 20 laps.
When you are at the track you will see someone gain a ton of ground or see 3 different great battles going on farther back.
Or you'll see that guy who is fast but had a penalty. You'll see him drive up the field. On TV they'll be like "where did this guy come from" as he enters the top 5.
Lately they've gotten better at it but it's still far from great.
Advice not advise....
Chris Buescher finally bowls a strike in the 9th frame to score his first win of 2024 I bet he wishes he had Kansas back
I give it a 90% on the Gauge. In general I love road courses and I like a little chaos built in to make these races really exciting. I think that's what we had today. Fun day

Diffy is a master at announcing. He needs to be on every race.
Yeah I was gutted for SVG. He worked so hard to get back up the front after Suarez screwed his two teammates with the caution, and then to make a mistake on the last lap after getting the lead was so un-SVG-like. He’s never raced there before so hopefully he’ll learn and get better for next time.

How many laps under Yellow? That was all I ever got to see.
At least 4 per caution. Which happens every so often in a race. So what's the problem?

I just broke down in a Costco crying of joy!
Sir, this is a Wendy’s
I was working in a worker station all weekend. Long days, but Good racing and the weather worked with us. Watkins Glen "blue Monster" got it's fill this weekend. The reason for the long red flag (Saturday Race) was cause of all the oil and clean up on the track. Plus, a large amount of damage to the rail. So, there was a reason for it. Over the night and in the morning that you did not see was the huge amounts of track cleaning was done Sunday morning.
SVG needs redemption on Buescher at the glen next year
Hey Eric don’t forget the main reason that wreck with the 22,24, and 6 happened was because the 22 got put out in the re marbles making the car almost impossible to turn!
Should NASCAR get rid of overtimes??? I’ve been seeing MANY NASCAR fans wanting them gone. What do you think???
No, they are here after the Jeff Gordon-Dale Jr debacle. Not NASCAR’s fault that desperate moves create issues sometimes
If they did away with OT then fans would complain about that. They all fans do is complain.
I do.
And to compensate, if the caution comes out within 3 to go at a road course, race back to the line and finish at the advertised distance.
Either one attempt or don’t do it at all.
Fans would complain either way, I think no but maybe be a limited number 4 or 5 would be an okay number in my opinion
So close for SVG, but congrats to Chris Buescher to get this win at Watkins Glen! Oh boy, here comes Bristol next weekend!
Have to wait another day to see what will happen if a next-gen flies into the catchfence lol

There’s always one surprise elimination every year, and I think Denny Hamlin will be that driver. Also I think something has to be done about the overtime. What Truex said was 100% correct.

Kyle Petty predicted Suarez and Bowman would be out the first round. They took that very personal haha.
Hey Eric, I am a new subscriber, and I am happy to come on board your channel. I really enjoy your insight as well as your coverage of all news and rumors that are NASCAR. I wanted to comment on the dilemma of the overtime finishes. First of all, I do believe that races should not finish under caution. However, I do not like it when it takes three or more attempts. It does a number on the fate of many drivers and their potential finishes. So, here’s my suggestion (not sure if anyone has offered this): For the first attempt at an overtime finish, I think it should go just as it is currently - choose rule and double up restart. However, if the first attempt does not end the race, then I think all remaining overtime restarts should be single file restarts like we had years ago. I think this could solve the problem and serve as a compromise to both sides of the dilemma. I would think the single file restarts would lessen the chance of a caution coming before the white flag while also letting the leaders race for the win. I’d love to hear everyone’s takes on this and/or give their suggestions for overtime finishes.
