Property expert Katy Campbell and acclaimed photographer Mark Nicholson offer an insider’s look at the Cotswolds' most charming and inspirational private homes
At Home in the Cotswolds is a celebration of beautiful Cotswold houses and their interiors. Author Katy Campbell and photographer Mark Nicholson take us on a tour of the villages and rolling hills of the Cotswolds as they uncover some of the most charming and inspirational homes in the region: a chocolate box cottage, an exquisite old rectory, a Georgian farmhouse, a quintessential manor house, an historic stately home, and more.
The featured homes, along with their adjacent gardens, were chosen not only for their architectural beauty but for their stunning interiors, which range in style from classical English country retreat to chic contemporary dwelling. Each house, and the interior design of its rooms, reflects the charm and character of its owners-and comes with its own unique and intriguing story. With the homes’ idyllic settings-and a foreword by the Duchess of Marlborough-this collection presents inspirational ideals of English country style certain to fascinate and delight.

I love when the back of the book looks just as gorgeous as the front.
I enjoyed watching your channel. Although my mother was an American, she grew up in England. I never used the word yard. I prefer garden, because it sounds so much prettier. The English language is so rich with choices. I prefer using the most beautiful word. What I love about the English people is their love of their gardens and their history. Their sense of humor is the most sophisticated.
So beautiful. Thank you Mary. For taking us along. With you❤
From the Cotswolds to Colonial Williamsburg, love it all!
Thoroughly enjoy your channel. Just wanted to point out in England we call a yard, a garden which is a must nicer word! Yard suggests something a lot less pleasant ie a farm yard or builders yard! But not a garden!
Thank you, that is something I appreciate. As a child, I remember using the word garden and my very stern aunt told me I was being "pretentious". I was eight and pretentious. 😁
@@thetartantopiary you were absolutely spot on! A garden is a garden! Even at 8!
To those of us living in the United States, where this video was produced, a garden is a plot where flowers or vegetables are grown. It is not an expanse of grass, trees, etc. attached to a home. One of the ways Americans (once colonists) showed their independence was to change spelling, pronunciation, and/or definition of British words. When in Rome...
@@2atthemill190 thank you. I understand. But wouldn’t it be preferable to call a place of beauty a garden with all its associations, rather than a yard!
@@juliancoulden1753 Absolutely right! In most cases, the British word for something is far better than the American.
The Cotswolds is my favorite place in England. In Blenheim Palace, there is a beautiful portrait of Consuelo Vanderbilt as she was the wife of the 9th Duke of Marlborough. Thank you for sharing this book.
It is on my list. I hope to visit soon.
The handsome book is the next best thing to touring Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds all over again! Thank you!
I'm jealous, I hope to do it in person within the next couple of years.
“Deep Purple”…. Haven’t thought of them for a lifetime! 😂. It seems your videos always bring back a good memory for me in addition to drinking in the beauty of the books and your home! Thank You again 😊
Rock on 1972! I was shocked and pleased to hear it. I made my son show me how to play it. Thanks for watching!
Another beautiful book with history, decor, gardens... I look forward to your channel. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching.
What a lovely book. I have never been to the Cotswolds but dream of going someday. Thank you for the walking tour of Williamsburg. It’s such a special place.
One of the best channels on UA-cam!
Well, that is the nicest thing I've heard today! Thank you,
I love this vlog...but most of all I love your table settings!
I just watched another UA-camr that spent his birthday in the Cotswold and now it’s on my to go list. What a beautiful place.
Nicolas Fairford by any chance? I love his channel!
@@MizJilly yes! I do too. 😁
Definitely do. One of the highlights of my life.
I love English Country Homes and the decor used in them. A Georgian vicarage in the Cotswold would be just my cup of tea. Cottages can be poky and the grand homes are just too big, vicarages/rectories are often just the right size.
Thank you for showing us the beauty of the Cotswolds! My only experience there was in a tour bus out of London and of course, although impressive, this book reveals its charm and character so well. Loved your walk through the Governor’s Palace in Williamsburg; so many years since I visited there. You have stirred pleasant memories with this one!
I purchased this book a week ago and so enjoyed it. Thought it was interesting that two different homes had the pomagrante wallpaper, it is lovely. Thanks for the review
Beautiful book and garden tour. Please go back to the governor's garden in the summer. Right now I can only imagine how beautiful it must be with flowers blooming and the hedges trimmed. Thank you for sharing this with us.🦠💐🌻🌺
I will try. It would be breathtaking! Thanks for watching.
You do this so well Mary - well done😊
Another wonderful review! Be still heart...the Cotswolds are stunning! Thank you!
Yes, I knew only a little about this area. It's beauty is as rich as its history.
Lovely
My younger son and his wife recently visited the Cotswolds and other areas of the British Isles. Your review elaborated their trip, giving a more in depth look at the architecture and interiors of this lovely area. Thank you.
Thank you!
This is one of my favourite place in the world with Val d’Orcia in Tuscany. Just bought the book. I go every year there for one week since 1980. Always an enchantment. Thank you for your lovely reviews
I'm going to look for the book. Thanks.
love
Since watching your channel my monthly book budget has increased tremendously. I'm trying to figure out if there's a correlation. 😆 Another wonderful video. Now I'm planning the 3-hour drive to Williamsburg in the spring. I haven't been there since I was in middle school. 😊
We had a 4 hour drive. it is worth it. We are fortunate to have this history and beauty preserved.
So beautiful, I absolutely adore the Cotswolds.
I've never been, but when I see it featured in a movie or documentary it seems idyllic and lost in time. The beauty really is breath taking!
Thank you
❤The Cotswolds!!
So, So glad I discovered your channel!! I am a lover of all books but especially Designers Coffee Table Books.. Thank you for a beautiful channel with superb commentary!
Thank you for the lovely comment! I’m so glad you found the channel also.
My gosh. When we travel to England, this area is a must see! Enjoyed this video so much. Keep it up.
Yes, I feel the same way!
Love the English style.
Please check Alison at home worthy for the Winter Armory Show. I used to go, it's the best. Bless. Thanks so much for the Real Winter Gardens. 40s and sunny up here today. Cleaning and sweeping. Cat beds in the dryer. Cheers from an old lady florista Yankee. 😘
Land of the Mohegans.
I will do that, I look forward to watching it. Enjoy the sunshine and thanks for the comment.
@@thetartantopiary Bless. 🍊
Kinda looks like the house from the anicent magus bride
too much garden not enough of interiors
I'll take that into consideration. I appreciate the opinion.
Speaker’s voice and unusual way of pronouncing words such as hill, “heel” takes away from the nice video.
Hello, how are you Linda?
Thanks for the feedback. It could be my accent.
Your accent is fine sometimes people gripe about the weather smalltalk is natural today
