I am a tight Yorkshireman, but then ago I go on 5 holidays a year, normally all long haul... Last trip to Barbados. All depends on how you think I guess...
I have noticed in your videos, that when you eat out, you usually spend around the same amount of money on beer or sometimes even more then the main meal itself. 3 beers 327 THB, one burger 320 THB. You come from the UK Eddy, you can get all the best European beers there in the supermarket all year round. Why spend more money on beer then food in Thailand? Those Thai beers and other international beers brewed in Asia are nothing compared to the beers you have in Europe. If I were you I would drink less beer and spend more on better gourmet food or have more to spend on dirty massages. Anyway as long as you are enjoying yourself! Stay safe Eddy!
He's on holiday lol I'm sure he's not missing the beer in supermarkets in the UK much. If I was eddy I would spend more money on beer, food and girls. You only live once
I always have my beer from 7/11 or family mart, 2 cans of chang 100 beht. good beer buzz in the morning. then I go to a thai place for lunch and have some salad or soup or rice with chicken for 30 - 60 baht. a soda is 8 baht at 7/11. so: I don't drinkt in restaurants or bars and almost never eat western food in thailand.

The best thing about being comfortable with the B500 price tag is you have more to play with outside the accommodation. It's a win/win in my book too. 👍
Bangkok can and can not be expensive. As a tourist it is not expensive: Hotels are still very cheap, compared to other cities around the world. Eating and drinking is still cheap. Now, all that said there are Michelin Star restaurants that can cost you 10,000B each (£250) but obviously you get what you pay for. And lets remember NANA is the arsehole of Bangkok. It's fun and cheerful, but it is not a very nice area. To live in BKK it is expensive: When you live here you don't eat out every night, you want a normal live, shopping in supermarkets is expensive! Cheese, wine, ham, beef, sauces, peanut butter etc, all the things you stock up on is expensive! double the price of UK. Cars are 3 times the value compared to UK prices, that's any car Honda, Toyota. BMW Merc etc are stupid money. My car cost £40,000, in the UK that would be brand new, here it's second hand. Education: My daughters school costs £10,000 a year and that's moderate compared to some International Schools, some are £20,000 a year. If you are a single man all these costs are irrelevant I know. When you live here you don't hang out in NANA, you go to the nice areas and some of those make London look poor. It's super Hi-So with Ferraris, Porsches etc, all driven by 18 year old. Again it doesn't have to be. Things can be cheap if you live here, for example holidays are cheap. I can get to a beautiful beach with my family, stay at a top hotel for a few hundred pounds, maybe 15,000B for the weekend (all in). In UK I would have to fly to a new country and it would cost a few grand for a week in Spain. Rent is cheap compared to UK (especially London). A 20,000B to 50,000B rental a month will get you something really nice.
I think people that have a moan about Thai prices (which i have done in the past) Have been spoilt with Vietnam or Cambodia where you always seem to find a Happy Hour for $1 drinks . . . and Hotels with Pools $40 a Night
The expensive bit is, even though Bangkok is a little cheaper than most major US cities, it's still more expensive than suburban USA. Atleast when it comes to food. Accommodation is still a steal in Bangkok. Which in my opinion easily makes up for the western menu prices.

Eddie, great video! I recently discussed Bangkok cost of living on one of my livestreams. If you are there on a holiday then you definitely want to be near the action as you pointed out . But if you are living there long term I think I'd rather live in a Thai style neighborhood with a lot lower cost of living and laid back lifestyle than Sukhumvit and Nana area. Bangkok abounds with off the beaten path neighborhoods that are very affordable, like 5,000 baht for a very nice and furnished studio apartment. You might have to trek a bit to visit the hotspots of Bangkok.

I think it’s a shame that you don’t care much for Thai food. I think it would be much healthier for you. And probably cheaper. Especially if you find some good street food. I think that is what I would be looking for if I was there. But thanks for the video and reviews. Please enjoy your trip and stay healthy my friend.
Digging the chair in your hotel room. She's a classic. I bet nobody would take it from the front of the house if you put a "free" sign on it. Might cook-off well in a bonfire though.
Thanks Eddie. I travel in the same vein as you, and yes Bangkok is very affordable with so much to do. Yup, the Sumkumvit /Nana area is more expensive than other BKK, but where can you find all of this ambiance & entertainment. I went to Kosahn Rd...very disappointing!😮💨 I am staying 8 days at the Prince Palace Hotel (u$s25 - Agoda), at the juncture of 2 canals with quick/easy/cheap access to center town. There is always Bolt taxi for those late nights. This place has great rooms, beautiful views, great AC & is also a SHA+plus Test & Go hotel. So CoVid safety is happening here. Happy trails my friend!
Very reasonable for a major Asian capital city. An absolute bargain compared to ripoff Dublin or London and Paris or any major European capital city. Cheers 🍻

Spent an afternoon in Monsoon a few weeks ago, great value beers and the food was good as well. Nothing wrong with going “budget” when you’re travelling for long periods, baht saved every now and then gets spent eventually. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
I usually stay in the Ratchatewi area little bit away from the tourist area but walking distance to siam square. At night after my afternoon nap I hop in a cab and head to Nana or Asoke for about 50 baht (actually feel bad cause its soo cheap). My fridge is always fully stocked from Big C supercenter just up the road. For a bit of afternoon delight I'll head to phrom pong, soi 24/1 alley is highly recommended . Try some of the Japanese restaurants Eddy. I recommend Uma Uma soi 23 and Kenshin Azakaya on Sukhumvit just before soi 33. Chicken skin and chicken tail is to die for. The one thing I find a ripoff in BKK is Steak esp imported.

It's definately getting expensive compared to what cost in the past, but isn't everywhere? Food is still very reasonably priced IMO but other stuff is increasing quite a lot. I've jut bought a SIM card/ Plan which is a third more expensive than last years one. AirBnBs appear to be at least 20% more than pre-panic... I mean pre-pandemic. Still reasonable compared to the 'western' world but getting more expensive than the real 3rd world country price that it used to be, but in many ways isn't now. As for accommodation (airBnB or hotels), Thailand is a country where I want to spend as much time as possible outside rather than inside, so I'm fine with the cheaper places but most new hotels appear to be going upmarket with upmarket prices. Maybe that'll change if they don't get sufficient occupancy rates but that's their choice to try for.
Bangkok is waaayyyy more expensive than say Pattaya. A beer 170 baht in a gogo bar, same beer in 7-11 is 40 baht. That's more than 400% markup. I don't blame the bars because of the extortionate rents in BKK. I live only 1/2 an hour away from soi 4 but I would rather pay a bit extra to travel to Pattaya.
Good to see you still got your MoJo which makes your channel. I did think you was struggling for content when you was so long in Pattaya. Thing is All Thailand is open but the nightlife isn’t. Thailand has got 77 Provinces & only 8 are Blue & can serve till 11 pm. 18 Orange Provinces have some Blue zones in them but only those with restaurants licenses can sell to 9 pm & all rest is dry. Of course there is a lot of Amber coffee being served but the nightlife is dead so you very restricted to where you can go if your looking for fun in the evening.
Bangkok is very reasonable compared to other capitalcities it gets expensive when you start bar fining from gogo bars and buying lady drinks you easily spend £200 a day
I don't care what anyone says Bangkok has been expensive for decades, yes you can have a cheep holiday if you want tobe a cheap Charlie or a hairy armpit backpacker and live in a cockroach invested accommodation
Check out Airbnb or Agoda homes there are some really nice places that are not so expensive for Bangkok or anywhere you travel. It gives traveling a different feel and a level of privacy you cant really get in a hotel.
That monsoon cafe , is part of the hotel Adelphi suites where I usually stay , I like soi 8 , close enough walking distance to the action but a chilled out vibe to escape it all when you need a break.
Maybe late this year if no restrictions. To hot in other months. But great city. And probably cheaper than other capital cities. So many other options in BKK. Thanks.
I have been here for three months being constantly reminded that I am not free by the requirement to wear a mask and this has limited my excursions. I ditch the thing in the parks when jogging, on the golf course and in the car on the way to various eateries when again the mask can come off. As if being Faceless is not bad enough for society, many Thais believe that they risk their lives if they don't observe the rituals. I picked up a discarded mask on the golf course and gave it to my caddy to put in the rubbish bag hanging on his trolly and he insisted on spraying my hands! How will they ever be convinced that there is no risk if they aren't allowed to discover it for themselves? I booked my seat home and the gal at Emirates refused to believe that there were no restrictions for travel to England so sent me an email saying what I needed to do. I was wrong at the time but proved right when two days later, the restrictions were lifted, she will think that Boris listens to me!
I know I asked you this before . Why the hell do you use a knife and fork to eat everything ? Pizza . Burgers . We never do this in the west . We have hands. Lol

Thanks for the info!
Hay Geezer what’s happening next???
Sorry Eddie no offence mate but it's getting a bit boring watching you stuff your face and doing hotel room reviews. Please ditch Steady Eddie and bring back Edgy Eddie.
He doesn't want to risk getting demonitized from UA-cam, lol, 😂
With all do respect thailand but the taste it's not there no more
Spent an afternoon in Monsoon a few weeks ago, great value beers and the food was good as well. Nothing wrong with going “budget” when you’re travelling for long periods, baht saved every now and then gets spent eventually. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
was in the monsoon any many times, great spot
It looks like you are having a good time which is what it is about. Great stuff.
Thankyou.
Driest looking chicken I seen in a while
I usually stay in the Ratchatewi area little bit away from the tourist area but walking distance to siam square.
Thanks for your info.
Only Steady Eddie could get twelve minutes of content out of a hamburger.
Compare the cost of your excusion to Turkey/Greece to Thailand
There's an idea.
i love the place you choose!💪
i love the food you eat 😋😋😋

Can’t beat Fitzgerald bar , proper Celtic fan club good food and beers we be will title there may be a session Mon the Celts 🇮🇪☘️up the ra
Is it tasty stuff Ed ?????
Got a sneaky sneaky feeling that Ed enjoyed that berger
Must be an American owner where you had the burger 🍔. VAT on TOP of the tax-free price, rather than THE PRICE (of which VAT...) 🤔. Interesting.
Ed. You really are hilarious.
Thankyou.
In context. Eddie had a few pints and a burger for £18. Is that cheap? Not really. The burger is £7, that's not cheap.
Bangkok is very reasonable compared to other capitalcities it gets expensive when you start bar fining from gogo bars and buying lady drinks you easily spend £200 a day
I am like western food nope, Thai food all the way so many plates I see less that a 100 b has me giving 300 b burgers the side eye lol.
I don't care what anyone says Bangkok has been expensive for decades, yes you can have a cheep holiday if you want tobe a cheap Charlie or a hairy armpit backpacker and live in a cockroach invested accommodation
Can't believe you stayed their 10 days.. Were you sober at all in that time...lol. tnx for upload..
Check out Airbnb or Agoda homes there are some really nice places that are not so expensive for Bangkok or anywhere you travel. It gives traveling a different feel and a level of privacy you cant really get in a hotel.
Eddie love your videos can i ask is your favourite word Chicken i live the way you say chicken.
Keep the good work up you cheer me up
That monsoon cafe , is part of the hotel Adelphi suites where I usually stay , I like soi 8 , close enough walking distance to the action but a chilled out vibe to escape it all when you need a break.
Maybe late this year if no restrictions. To hot in other months. But great city. And probably cheaper than other capital cities. So many other options in BKK. Thanks.
For someone who doesn't like burgers much , he demolishes plenty ! Keep up the bad work Eddy .....
If that Hotel cover your needs, you right, why pay more? Better save that extra money for a better meal or better aerobics. Thanks for share with us.
Eddie

Sou 8 is a great street, I often stay in the Adelphi Suites, it’s a great choice.
I know I asked you this before . Why the hell do you use a knife and fork to eat everything ? Pizza . Burgers . We never do this in the west . We have hands. Lol
I love ur matter of fact approach, no apologies needed. Love seeing real life there. Enjoy and thanks for sharing
