Great beast of a ZZ. Apparently they can flower over here when not stressed. Not often though and it looks like it definitely needed repotting ✌🏻
No, a ZZ plant never feel abandoned. They thrive on neglect!! That is why your ZZ plant is so beautiful
They thrive even more on love, I sit mine in full sun most days and it grows so fast
Your zz plant doesn't hate you. It likes being crowded. It really likes it actually. But it did look like it would like a repotting. I wouldn't add all that stuff either like the tennis balls and rocks. Because it may mess up the development of the rhizomes. (Flowers are made by happy plants usually)
Yikes! Cannot believe you did that in your living room. Amazing nothing was maimed or killed in the process i.e. that white sofa and light rug!!! That's the job I hate most about house plants -

I was wrong. I cut the stem and throw the enormous root as i was not able to declutter it. Thank God my zz plant is still surviving in my mistakes. Hope it will grow a new roots. I had the same issue with you and i cut the plastic container because i cant pull out the plant.

Am I the only one who wonders why you didn't do this outside??? Glad the operation was successful, but would have loved to see the cleanup process! Can't wait for your magical potting secrets video.
I cut out the part that explained the front of our house way too hot in the direct sun and the back is far too noisy to film.
I've done this before with a huge plant that needed to be divided so I put it in a bath tub full of water and shook the plant around which removed the soil making it 10 time easier to separate the roots and divide the plant, with much less stress on the root ball.

@@DeborahRose2885 Very true, I forgot to mention I don't release the water down the drain, I use a bucket to remove and poor onto garden.

Hello from the Caribbean. New here. Great video; loved the dogs comment😂. I've been avoiding dividing mine but I think I'll just dive into it ASAP.
You can propergate the leafs directly into soil in half a year or so they grow new stem, you can even do this by rhizome just lay rhizome onto the soil exposed to light and it turn green and start growing like a potato would, do not eat it tho every part of the zz is poisonis, you should also make sure pots have holes in them with sauzers it makes care a lot easy'r.

This is the first video I am watching from your channel and will be my last. Sorry kids, I'm going to be politically direct and honest. you starbucks generation never heard of common sense? Take the pot outside and once the plant is out of the pot you could hose the roots and get all the dirt out, instead of making a mess in the living room with your white socks on. I have a ZZ plant bigger than that and never had a problem with repotting it. Good luck.

Hey. In this case about the specific ZZ plants and flowering - means that it is in bad condition and in time is going to die.
thats pretty good got 5 plants out of one, that's prob the biggest zz plant I've seen in real life and on youtube
Plants do actually flower in the wild. It is a natural process, just because it is a houseplant does not mean it is about to croak.......:)

ZZs are so easy to take care of! They are happy with any well draining soil and they love to dry out between waterings. Any pot with drainage and just enough room to stretch out will do.

I just repotted mine but it was only little. Still split it into 3! I noticed yours doesn't seem to have Rhizomes, the potato things, do you know why?

You should not be doing in living room. Roots are to be trimmed short before repotting. Spray of water would have removed the soil so making it easy to divide.
Sorry it is too late now after 3 years, hahahaha, but there is a much easier way to do this: Sumerge the root ball in water, totally sumerged for about 1 hour, then it is so easy to divide.

I don't have no one to help me, so I was thinking that after getting my large plant out the pot, I can put the plant in a pail of water to loosen the roots, with the root side down in the water. Do you think that will work?

It is NOT true the plant give flowers because it is dying!!!! That means is a happy plant!! However it doesn't mean this plant doesn't need to be repot. Actually it is massive!! And beautiful! 😍

That is a beautifull Zz Plant and my Faourite. You guys should have taken the plant out side and repot it where you can have more space and wipe down the leaves as well. A Zz plant needs to be repot every few years if in the same pot with new Soil and Fertilizer to keep the plant growing healthy and stress free.
--- I make a home made plant tea for all my plants because each is different from the other so I am a little different in that way in my care system. Great video Cheers !
