Thanks Jakson buddy. Just cloned a site and it did take around ten minutes :) Marvellous video and much appreciated you took the time to do this. **Database info** The database settings are for a new database that you need to set up on your new hosting. In your new hosting account, there should be a MySQL Databases option where you can set up a new database. Just keep a note of the database name, username and password to put into to the duplicator installer.php file.
Hi Jakson, I just wanted to say that I loved the calm and professional way you explained EVERYTHING in this video. I've been watching tons of videos abour Wordpress is the last few weeks and I'm basically sick and I've had enough of these over energetic, and sometimes stupid, nonsense youtubers. You got yourself a new suscriber. Kind regards.
Over a year old, and still very helpful. Even though duplicator is different now, your walk through was still of massive assistance. Big thanks...you are awesome. :)
You are awesome and obviously understand what you are doing. I'm not so savvy with this sort of thing. I can handle building Wordpress using templates, but this is over my head. It looks like a lot of steps and those "warnings", who is going to understand those except an expert at this sort of thing? I'm thinking there are too many possibilities of having problems trying to do this.
Hi Jackson - thanks for the walk through. Was struggling to migrate/clone a Word Press site to a subdomain for testing purposes. I had been using UpdraftPlus which unfortunately broke SiteOrigin theme Page Builder created pages. This Duplicator trick did the job, and also made it easy to switch the links in the database. The only minor challenge was getting the db user / password details.
Used your tutorial, followed the steps and everything worked smoothly. Had a few minor issues moving the DNS entries from one host to another, and also with the CDN cached files, but the rest of the process went smoothly. Thank you for this tutorial!
This was absolutely brilliant, so easy to use and so quick! I was trying to do it the looooong way, i.e. backed up mySQL database, downloaded then uploaded all the files, then changed all the paths etc, it drove me nuts and still didn't work properly! I then found Jackson's video and after watching it I installed the plugin and followed the on-screen instructions - I didn't even have time to finish my cup of coffee it was that quick! Thank you Jackson, you've saved my hair line and now I've subscribed to your channel for future guides etc.
you are a life saver, i was afraid that i had to spend 3 days moving my entire site from localhost to a testdomain, which ultimately would have to be moved to the original domain, which would be atleast 3 more days of work, now i did it under 10 minutes :D
Thank you @JAKSON! This will great. Made notes to absorb everything, and will do following step by step. Did a trial this week just moving files from one control panel to the other, but didnt work, so will try this. Question, in case you read this, at what stage of this process would you recommend POINTING the DOMAIN to the new HOSTING ACCOUNT, then adding it to the new CONTROL PANEL? I guess we have to save the files first, in order to access it? Im guessing we move the DOMAIN NAME after we download files, just before we go go FILEZILA? Is that the correct order? Alternatively, just to make sure there is no error, are you available to hire to do this thing? and how much do you charge? Thank you very much!
I was able to do this with the two-step install. It was a little trickier, and I had to configure a couple of things on my hosted server to make it work, but man...this did all the hard work for me. I'll definitely use this as much as I can.
Thank you for making this video! Successfully moved a site! I did have to use duplicator pro because the package was too large. I moved the site from one Godaddy account to another so I can confirm the pro version works on Godaddy. One area I was confused about was the database info. It wasn't stated in the video, but you do need to make a new database on the host you are transferring to...I was able to do that easily in Godaddy using the MySQL Database wizard. Then I used that new database name, username and password to successfully transfer the site.
tried it..... works perfectly.... this guy deserve a thumb up! (some problem like ipage, has problem during build-up archive...) you guys gotta dig abit deeper than this
Hey geys listen to me,I have a long time looking for a method to duplicate my website to another server but I didn't succeed untill I found this video;believe me it's a great and powerfull plugin.tHANK YOU VERY MUCH JAKSON
Great, except for what happens at 5:47? I have multiple domains on my host and lots of files under "remote site". So what should I put into the browser to find installer.php? Is it just me, or was there a major step skipped?
Thanks for the guide Jakson. I'm relatively new to Wordpress so took me the best part of 2-days and not 10-minutes, but got there in the end! Managed to bring down the original site somehow, but I was able to retrieve it by editing the wp-config file with to correct database details. Perhaps you could re-work the video to incorporate the relevant comments posted below. They help you see it from the perspective of a novice . Thanks once again.
Thanks Jakson, Duplicator sounds easy enough; I'll have to give it a try. I recently tried All in One Migration which I like. One creates an export file on an existing site and imports it at the new location, then just set the permalink and it is done. It is free but limited to site up to 512 MB. One has to upgrade for larger sites.
Hi Jackson! I'm just about finished designing my first website for a client, and am excited to have found this tutorial, thank you so much! I am creating the site from a local server using MAMP, and my client already has a website on go daddy that I will be replacing. Will the procedure be the same?
SUPER HELPFUL - "BUT" need to be clear on - 1) Does WP already need to be installed? 2) Or does duplicator install WP as part of the process - 3) Show in the old WP where to get DB info as everyone is screaming about (config file) --- but again - GREAT basic demo.
Hi Jakson, very nice to follow you online and all your help. Could you tell me how to remove the word "category" on your category pages?? thanks a lot!
Thank you so much, this tutorial worked perfectly! I was dreading migrating the site and your video was so clear, the instructions were very simple and straightforward.
Hello Jackson, Thanks I was able to successfully migrate my site from one domain to another domain and hosting. I face similar problem with user name and password, So i have created a new database in CPanel, Created Userid and Password. Once that was done, I used option "Continue and Remove existing data" on Duplicator (which clear data from the newly created Database) and the migration was successfull and easy.
Hey Jakson, thanks a lot for producing such a super video tutorial. This helped a lot, Duplicator plugin is so very incredibly useful... I have been unsuccessfully trying since last one week to move my wp site to cpanel hosting, this actually helped me to do it in almost 10 minutes.. Thank You!! Appreciate it!!
Same for me bro, some people are not really familiar with these softwares as we are not professionals, a bit of explaining on what you are doing it could help us a lot!
Hi Jackson, great tutorial. My client already has a fresh wordpress install on their new server, can I still follow these steps uploading files to root ftp in this way, with wordpress already installed in the new location? Basically I'm copying the site to another location then changing its content from there... Many thanks!
That is a sub-domain that he created in his cPanel before the video (every host gives you these), and then he just typed the full path to the file 'installer.php' that he uploaded to the server at 5:20 mark that he got from the original website at 3:35 Hope this was what you guys were asking
I keep getting a "Oops! That page can’t be found." when going to the new domain/installer.php, even though my FTP upload went through successfully. Please help
I migrated mine using support from Techcyber firm, like I migrate my entire domain name using support from them before an hour, we spoke on +12012979269 and they handled everything with ease..
Thanks for the video. I have some questions for you Jakson. I am at the create new database screen but when I entered the information of my host, database, username and password from Wampserver it did not work for me. Am I to use this information from my hosting service? If so, where do I get the host, database, username and password information?
Is it possible for you to do a tutorial on moving a free Wordpress to Namecheap or is this the same procedure in the Duplicator plugin for this also? Hosting is what I am interested in. Thanks in advance
Hi Jakson, I finally got the migration to work but it doesn't show my old website! I had to put it in maintenance mode until I found a solution. Any suggestions?
Hey Collette, not sure what that could be - my more recent method is this for moving sites: New version of this video here: ua-cam.com/video/hQ_jovE2KUI/v-deo.html
Great video! literally been searching for this solution all day. Thanks! For those of you who are having trouble finding the ftp login, it will be on your host.
would you make a tutorial on how to do this without cPanel because im having trouble in regards to database name, user and password and yea if you made a tutorial on how to do this on digital ocean like the previous comment said, that would help me tremendously thanks
Hi Catalina, and thanks for watching! Yes i did check out Digital Ocean, and it doesn't have a built in control panel so you would need to get funky with a little command line action for your FTP and all that stuff - not the scariest thing to do but does take a little learning. I did a Google on "control panel for digital ocean hosting" and there's quite a few posts on options on getting some sort of control panel on there. hope this helps!
Thank you. I followed your instructions and it worked flawlessly. Although I have to agree with Agustin Sánchez Ferreyra bellow, you did not explain the database details (thankfully I had those!).
Thanks Jakson.. I wonder.. at 5:00 using FTP app to upload. Is there any reason why you wouldn't just use the upload functionality of cPanel and pull the file up from your PC? Seems easier and would save a minute each time but is it bad practise? If so, why please?
Hello Jakson, thank you so much for this tutorial, it is saving my life!!! I am having a hard time getting to the installer.php page, I am not quite sure if I am putting the correct web address in, can you please assist?
Thank you Jackson for such an informative tutorial. Yesterday night i almost slammed my laptop to the ground tryna migrate a client's website till i watched this. Thank you bro!
Great tutorial - Thank you! Unrelated question... What do you use to capture your webcam/Screen when doing tutorials? Trying to find a good one for mac!
Okay important question: This is just a copy of another website, right? It is not actually migrated, the other one is still there. I do not want to lose my ranking in google, but I will for a while if I do it this way, or not? I want to change host and not the domain...
Hi, You will not lose the domain with this, After you migrate the site change your domain nameservers to the new host and it will work on the new host with the same domain name.
Incredible tutorial Jakson, thank you. If I am moving my site from a subdomain in my WHM hosting account with Hostgator to a new domain which will also be hosted in new hosting package with Hostgator. Will this process work the same? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Maggie, thanks for watching and great feedback! Yes, that should work just fine. The Duplicator Plugin will do all the clever stuff with changing all the urls on the site on the new hosting.
what if you don't have a business website account? I have a premium wordpress hosted site I paid $100 for the year but in order to add any plugins I have to go business for another $200 a year. I put a lot of time into building the site and would like to transfer it to a different host. Any suggestions? Thank you
Hi Jakson. What is best practice for updating an already live site with updates from a localhost dev site? Following this tutorial I had a message after loading installer.php page in duplicator about a potential conflict with the existing config file…?
Love the way you explain things. Unfortunately it didn´t work in my site. Te installer.php always is broken. I had to do ir manually. Hope next time it works! Thanks!
Hi, if I am using one theme and now I want to change the theme and I also want to change the concept as well. Is it possible to make the new wordpress and publish it when it is all done, without any transitions? I mean: while I am creating my new wordpress the current one is untouched.
Hi Jakson, thanks so much for this tutorial. I am planning on uploading a website that I have created on my desktop using mamp to a subfolder on my website. Just wondering if I need to install Wordpress first in this subfolder before uploading the files. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
can this work if you are updating an existing site... for example, you built out a subdomain and now want to replace your exisiting website with your new website that sits on a subdomain?
Worry less over transferring your domain name cause with advanced plugin from Techcyber I had my domain name transferred over to Go daddy before an hour, we spoke on +12012979269
Good video, but loads of steps missing, for example, subdomains, MySQL databases etc etc.. so confusing.. could you make a video that includes all of that please as you have great voice and easy to understand.
My package is too large and I'm struggling to get it up. I've tried watching a few other videos to get me going but nothing's working. What do you suggest?
Help! Duplicator would only migrate to an empty database. I have more than one website at that URL and the database has many existing tables that I want to keep. What can I do? Do I need to find another plugin for this?
Trying to migrate from cpanel to plesk, everything goes thru successfully until i type in website.com/installer.php and it says file not found. I go into file manager and the file is right there with that exact path, not sure whats going on.
UPDATE - Everything is working good. For some reason I was only getting this problem when the uploaded files came thru FTP. When I manually uploaded them to file manager and then typed in websitename.com/installer.php everything worked fine.
I created website on WordPress without database... I used woocoomerce theme... So now how I will host my website... Live site need the details of database... Please help me.
Hello Jackson, I am doing everything you suggested and am getting an install error in the Install Database, Server Code: 200 It says to validate permissions and/or group-owner on the database.sql file
My WordPress site on 'localhost' has many broken links & I want to migrate from the Production site to 'localhost' so that I can use it for a test site before uploading changes made to the live web host. Can I use Duplicator to do that?
Thanks Jakson, it worked! But, I made one mistake. I wanted to copy a WP site on the same server and I did it. Now when open the original WP site, 404 File not find happen. Is it possible to fix it? I wanted to create two identical WP sites on the server.
When I migrated everything, the migration did not import my media library, and the hompage and navigation menus are missing. Am I missing a key step? Everything else worked fine - plugins and themes were transferred correctly.
Some things were slightly out of date (going to my url/installer.php looks a bit different from your version) but this is still a great video - thank you.
Hello Jackson, have you used the 'All-in-One WP Migration' plugin, if so, what do you think of it? I use it a few times and it seems to work fine, but you need a WordPress installation to import a .wpress file. Cheers
This video was really helpful, i had trouble with other migration plugins but with duplicator it worked (i had a little trouble logging back to the website thanks to reCapcha because i had 2 websites up with the same API key). Thanks
I have a question. If I will be updating my website. I made a new one on subdomain, and now I want to move it to domain. I have files there. Should I delete all the old files? Or I can upload installer and archive and the plugin will do the rest?
I have a site that has a lot of data, such as articles and my site has 4 man categories. so my question is that if I redirect my home page with category in my second site then what articles were in my old site Will those articles also come in the new site? And what if my old site's traffic was in the new site? Please Reply
What If you want to know your hostname on (local) server. I was able to get the ‘hostname’ by going into the database. you can run the following in the SQL: SHOW VARIABLES WHERE Variable_name='hostname'
i would like to migrate word press from old web company. Is it possible to install WordPress on my Server and transport the current Homepage via ftp or any thing else that you have the structure? We have to find an other solution because i can not reach them. I don't have administrator password. I have only author password.
Is it possible to download and save your site on to your computer on the current host, then migrate later on ? like in 2 months ? I am currently on host gator, I want to keep my site as I have spent 3 weeks doing it. However I don't need it "live" or visible to the public in the next 2 months so I want to cancel my current Hosting with Hostgator and do the transfer on a later date ?
Thanks Jakson buddy. Just cloned a site and it did take around ten minutes :) Marvellous video and much appreciated you took the time to do this.

@@castandcultivate23 From where ?
Yooo😂😂 that shit killed me
You do not understand how much this helped me. Thank you so much for this video!!

you guys gotta dig abit deeper than this
What a clear and practical tutorial! Thank you, Jakson!
Hey geys listen to me,I have a long time looking for a method to duplicate my website to another server but I didn't succeed untill I found this video;believe me it's a great and powerfull plugin.tHANK YOU VERY MUCH JAKSON

Yep, completely stuck at this step.
Absolutely a great plugin, had a bit of an issue at first with the db users, now that I figured it out it works like a charm!
Thanks for the guide Jakson. I'm relatively new to Wordpress so took me the best part of 2-days and not 10-minutes, but got there in the end! Thanks Jakson,

Glad it helped you Travis!
Hi Jackson! I'm just about finished designing my first website for a client, and am excited to have found this tutorial, thank you so much! I am creating the site from a local server using MAMP, and my client already has a website on go daddy that I will be replacing. Will the procedure be the same?
Worth pointing out that you need to create a new database in the new location. I had to double check this elsewhere.

Hi Jakson, very nice to follow you online and all your help. Could you tell me how to remove the word "category" on your category pages?? thanks a lot!
Where did you get the database info from? Please clarify. Thanks
First you need to create one:
codex.wordpress.org/Using_cPanel
go to wp-config
you can get on root/wp-config.php. Look for define('DB_NAME', ...)
Thank you so much, this tutorial worked perfectly! I was dreading migrating the site and your video was so clear, the instructions were very simple and straightforward.
Appreciate your great feedback Alison! thanks for watching!
Hello Jackson, Thanks I was able to successfully migrate my site from one domain to another domain and hosting. Ah, thanks so much Amit, really appreciate your kind word and support!
Completely lost me at 4:15.
You need to sort out Filezilla! Best FTP app there is
Same for me bro, some people are not really familiar with these softwares as we are not professionals, a bit of explaining on what you are doing it could help us a lot!

Worked for me as well! And the new Duplicator does EVERYTHING for you. Thanks Jakson
I am confused about the folder /subdomain that you mentioned that you created at 5:47... where did this come from?
bump
me too
On the new cPanelserver, you add a subdomain or a directory folder that will house the new WP database and site files.
That is a sub-domain that he created in his cPanel before the video (every host gives you these), and then he just typed the full path to the file 'installer.php' that he uploaded to the server at 5:20 mark that he got from the original website at 3:35
Hope this was what you guys were asking
This is so useless why would he just jump a step, how should I know that I have to create a subdomain beforehand!!?
I keep getting a "Oops! That page can’t be found." when going to the new domain/installer.php, even though my FTP upload went through successfully. Please help
I migrated mine using support from Techcyber firm, like I migrate my entire domain name using support from them before an hour, we spoke on +12012979269 and they handled everything with ease..
Great vid thanks!... your expression at 5:16 though...."depending on the size of your package" lololol!
Thanks for the video. I have some questions for you Jakson. I am at the create new database screen but when I entered the information of my host, database, username and password from Wampserver it did not work for me. Am I to use this information from my hosting service? If so, where do I get the host, database, username and password information?

Thanks a lot Jakson. It helps me, and save my money without buying paid plugin like Updraft or VaultPress.

Thanks Horace, glad to help!
Thanks for sharing. It really does work. I tried and loved it the very first time.
my Joomla site is hacked, please how can I transfer from Joomla Live Server site to localhost?
I wonder if this plugin can be used to migrate Site 1 in a Multisite environment to Site 2 in the same Multisite?
Where can I find my database info? I'm with Namecheap shared hosting
it worked so well, thank you it took me 8 minutes.....................CONGRATULATIONS
I have suhosin extension enabled which is having write permissions when using the duplicator, please help!
What kind of camera do you use to make your videos? It's very good quality. Great video!

I want to take my current website and host it on my mac, then rebrand it and clone it to another fresh website. Will this help me do that?
Great demo... I have been doing this the hard way. Going to try this out.
Love the way you explain things. Unfortunately it didn´t work in my site. Te installer.php always is broken. I had to do ir manually. Hope next time it works! Thanks!
When you started typing in the URL area I left to go download All-in-One WP Migration. Typing info you know that we do not know does not help.
Thanks!
Hey Ioannnify, thanks for watching! - No, you don’t need to install WordPress first - the Duplicator Package includes all the WP Files.
Thanks Jakson ! Great Stuff. But I think I missed the boat on creating a new database to upload. Have you created a video on that ?
Hi Joe, creating the database will be specific to your host - ping them a mail and I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction. Hope this helps!
that face when you said "the size of your....package" lmaooooooooooooo
HAhahahhahahhahaha
Great tut... only issue I cant get past is the error message about the directory being writable, although I've changed the permissions :(
can this work if you are updating an existing site... for example, you built out a subdomain and now want to replace your exisiting website with your new website that sits on a subdomain?
what about the plugins that I installed in local host? Will they be transferred too or do I have to perform something different for them?
Could there be problems if your lamp development server has a higher php version then your hosted server. I use raspberry pi 3 for my lamp.
not sure about that jonny777bike - but hold tight !!! - I have a new "how to migrate" video being released later today!
Worry less over transferring your domain name cause with advanced plugin from Techcyber I had my domain name transferred over to Go daddy before an hour, we spoke on +12012979269
Hey great videos, just wondering how you open the dock that come up on your srceen , super handy, thanks

I just followed your video. But how can and where can I create FTP details? Is it for new hosting? Just clarify please
Am I right in saying that the duplicator plugin imports the previous database info into the new database that we create on our new host?
Hello Jackson, I am doing everything you suggested and am getting an install error in the Install Database, Server Code: 200
It says to validate permissions and/or group-owner on the database.sql file
My WordPress site on 'localhost' has many broken links & I want to migrate from the Production site to 'localhost' so that I can use it for a test site before uploading changes made to the live web host. Can I use Duplicator to do that?
do I have to buy a business plan for 300 bucks a year to do this simple migration?
Cheers
Hey Carlos, thanks for watching! I haven't tried this migration plugin but will for sure will check it out - thanks for sharing!

What If you want to know your hostname on (local) server.
I was able to get the ‘hostname’ by going into the database. you can run the following in the SQL:
SHOW VARIABLES WHERE Variable_name='hostname'
i would like to migrate word press from old web company.
