    I really want to get this U3000 2-channel with external battery pack for my new GMC and decided to watch your video. Much respect, sir. Great job on the installation. Thanks for taking the time to film it as an aid to the rest of us. It is VERY much appreciated.

      I wish I found a better hidden spot for the battery, but I think where it is works well

      happy you liked it. the install is holding up super well and no one even notices the battery, or has kicked it or hit it.

    I wish i found this vid before i installed mine. Damn it took a whole day to finish mine (noob). The biggest reason why i got the u3000 is for the radar, but my rear window tint blocked the signal and i eventually cut a small cut-out the size of the camera body from the tint and its unnoticeable.
    Ps: those filters are fuses, thought i wanna mention that in case you need to troubleshoot in the future.

      ya I tried many things to get the radar to work on the front. In the dotted area ECT, but no luck. I hope to have a full review soon. I just been so busy lately enjoying the summer with family :).

    Can you comment on the parking mode functionality? I’m concerned that given the meshed windshield, the radar won’t be of much use. I also saw something commenting on the back radar being blocked by the tinted window? I also have a tinted window but I don’t feel like cutting it.

      that radar does not work at all in the Mach E with its front IRR windshield, you can't set radar on for the rear only. time lapse mode and motion detection in park mode do work very well. the U1000 also has these features without the radar, so unless ya can get a good deal on the U3000, get the U1000.

    Hi there! Thanks for the review. Have a question on the U3000 Thinkware remote LIVE view feature....Basically, my intention is to view my car, LIVE from any remote location, even when the car is "SWITCHED OFF" (that's the key word). So my question is, if I connect the U3000 camera with a hardwire kit or if I use an external battery, like the ivolt Xtra or Powercell8, which will actually require me in both of the above cases to connect to the fuse box and this will eventually give the U3000 camera a constant power source alongwith having an internet connection inserted in the usb port of the battery, will I be able to see my car LIVE remotely from any location even when the car is "SWITCHED OFF"?
    Please let me know - thanks, Terence

      that would be amazing feature to have. mine would do this if my car parked in a spot with good wifi. Sadly, this is rare for me.

    Guys and girls. Before you install the connecting wire from your rear camera across the top of your roof pillars, make sure you won't be interfering with the deployment of any curtain airbags. Many of these have an anchor point part-way up the A-pillar, for example, which makes routing the wire across the top of the A-pillar to the windshield inadvisable unless you remove the trim and go behind the airbag or, even better, down one side and up the other.. If in doubt, remove the trim to see what you're dealing with.

    • @macheconnection

      thank you for posting that out. I guess I should have done a better job showing my wires going behind the airbag on the front pillar.

      @@macheconnection I didn't imagine for a minute that you wouldn't have done it right but I've seen so many 'how-to' videos, even ones posted by alleged pro installers, which don't take airbags into account. I'm no pro by any means but fit stuff like dashcams etc. for friends and family and my own preference is to go down the C pillar and along the door sills and up the windshield side of the A pillar if only because some roof linings have a way of never being the same once interfered with. From a UK subscriber - carry on the good work!

    Thanks you for show us the installation, but wouldn't your passenger will kick the battery to close to their feet I hope not. I going to buy Thinkware U3000 but not sure if I should buy the external battery because it is EV car my 12V battery does charge from the main battery I believed they install 12 battery to keep everything as 12 Volts so NO one can get Zap & get Killed by 87 KW battery.
    Even I did look under my seats no space.

    • @macheconnection
      @macheconnection 11 місяців тому

      None of my passengers have kicked the battery. None of my passengers even noticed it was there until I pointed it out. Before I had a thinkware battery my car would give me errors of 12v drain. if you have a 3d printer or a block of wood you can cut to a similar size. you can install it as a mock battery. It will then help see if your passenger will kick it or find a better spot.

    What kept throwing me off is you hardwired the green to the battery constant. Does that pull when the car is off? If not I can’t understand the reason for this.
    I have the q1000 in my Ranger and F150 hardwired directly to the battery with no issues.
    In my Mach-e I got the volt mini with the Q1000. My set up doesn’t have the green wire. So my input to the battery only has a ground and an ACC fuse tap. My output from the battery is, red yellow black, and hardwired.
    Your videos is a bit long but I like it that way so I’m not wondering if you edited out something I might have a question on.

    • @macheconnection

      the green wire mostly to let the battery know if the car is on or off. Ya don't want the thinkware battery charging from your 12v when the car is off.

    hello a question disturbs me on the rear camera of the u3000! where is the rear radar sensor because on my pickup my window is completely vertical which forces me to completely tilt the objective of the lens to view the rear it seems that the radar sensor is on the side of the lens would require me to put an adjustable support to be able to adjust the inclination

    • @macheconnection
      @macheconnection 11 місяців тому

      that's a good question. since the radar does not work though the front windshield on the Mach E and you can't use the rear without using the front. I have not checked or tested the rear radar at all.

    i have thinkware u3000 and its very lame.
    first - during setup it keeps disconnecting phone and turning parking mode ON, whats very stupid
    second- you have to connect external battery to avoid ultra power saving mode being switched on by itself - unless you turn off battery protection, whats silly since you can select on what Voltage camera will turn off.
    i have 2+2 batteries in my pickup and small solar hooked up - still wants their battery, and its even more silly in EV - thats one huge battery
    They could (but wont) do it perfectly - to give you option on what Voltage what mode goes ON,
    power saving 12.3
    ultra power saving 12.1
    turn off camera 12.0
    could by done by software, easly

      I mostly had the problem with wireless android auto connecting over and over no matter how many times I tell it to disconnect. I can't connect to the tinkware unless I have my android auto connected with a USB.
