Having Conchita in her corner has made Muguruza a much more grounded player and that shows in her attitude now with her handshakes at the net where she seems more appreciative of her opponent not that she's a great player, she has always been an amazing one. But she has showed more depth in her game specially this year with a lot more consistency in maintaining her ranking.
Svitolina is so overrated. Her consistency is what mantains her inside the top 10. She has no massive weapon against big hitters. Being a pusher and having no backup plan will not take you far. She lacked everything in this match.
Svitolina is very consistent and does very well against lesser players and earns a great living in doing so, but in majors against powerful players she has few answers. Lacking in power and with no particular weapon, she probably will not win a major in her career, despite usually being seeded pretty high.

Maybe her priority is to keep doing exactly what she's doing, being so successful money-wise, not to change anything.
@@Nirky I think she obviously wants it like all tennis players but she's not blessed with power and variety. Tennis is obviously too competitive. Money wise I think all players rank in the top 100 consistently are quite ok for the rest of their lives especially if they aren't from Western Europe or the Anglo Saxon countries and got lots of endorsement and invest wisely. I coming from developing country will never be able to make what she make in a year in my entire lifetime I feel. I can't imagine having million of dollars$ 😂😂

I kind of agree. Svitolina is like a grade B Halep. Fantastic moving and defense, but not a whole lot of weapons, less penetration, and her strokes don’t have the deceptive disguise when she changes direction. She would need a little luck on her side, but anything is possible.
To be honest, the only reason Elina Svitolina has been able to constantly ranked top 5 in the world is because she has been given easy draws in majors, especially the slams. Once she finally met a quality player like Muguruza who is lowly ranked and unseeded, the result is a mockery of WTA's ranking system and the overall quality of current women tennis players, especially those occupying the top 10 spots. Most of these women would have been nobody in late 80s and 90s.
You have a good point but give credit to elina who have that consistency the past 2-3 seasons. She needs to modify her game better perform at grand slams bec when she face a big hitter and has the consistency that day then she would be in big trouble

I've never been a huge fan of Mugaruza's strokes but I love the way she plays, her footwork and immediate forward pressure on her opponents

Svitolina should be more aggressive. There were hardly any points that put Muguruza in difficulties. With this tennis I don't see her winning any GS.
