After watching about 30+ k-dramas and analyzing all the different types of characters. I'm guessing that he's just his friend who's helping him keep it a secret given how he came on the right timing just before Hyeri and the rest could go investigate the lodge. Kinda like those secretaries in shows like Are You Human Too and The Beauty Inside. But I could be very wrong.
