Lucky with me I was able to walk in to my local GameStop yesterday and bought me a Xbox Series X so I really don’t have worry about exclusives anymore lol
I expect more of this throughout the year. I think the big companies made so much money from the pandemic and all the lockdowns isolation that now the pandemic is shifting to endemic in some countries they are all investing that extra cash to prepare for the future.

This.. Games won't be exclusive to "xbox", they'll be exclusive to game pass. Playstation and Nintendo will have game pass on their consoles. Consoles will become the video game equivalent of Rokus, Fire sticks, etc.

Absolutely. Microsoft with Phil will honor all contracts that they currently have and then they will make it Xbox exclusive afterwards. They did this with The Outer Worlds and is why it was on everything, including Switch, yet The Outer Worlds 2 will be Xbox exclusive. Glad that Lizard Squad took my PSN account a decade ago and I switched to 360 at that time from Ps3. All of these games coming to Gamepass puts a huge smile on my face.

I think Sony is probably saying that because there may be games that are going to be coming out in a few years that already had contracts written up for them. Overwatch & Diablo 4 don't even have release dates and they were both delayed recently, not to mention there are probably games that haven't been announced yet but have already had everything decided already.
I think this is the begining of the end for physical hardware. Acquiring IPs now and down the road gamepass will be the Netflix of gaming. All cloud based. There is no money in console hardware, and Microsoft known that better than anyone now. Here's my prediction...there might be a console from Sony and Microsoft after this generation... But that'll be it. I'd bet Nintendo will be the last man standing in terms of hardware. Call me crazy if you want. But one day you'll see this comment and go damn, he was right.
Consoles will be made , physical copies of games on the other hand will go away. GameStops are closing down and digital sales are increasing. Actually I've reached a point where I'd want Nintendo to "switch" their leadership to United States like Sony Playstation did. I've also reached a point where I'd prefer Nintendo to just put their games on other platforms like Sega did. Switch will be my final Nintendo console. Their management is trash bro.

I do think PS5 is gonna take a huge hit from this. Sony may get good sales from their first party titles, but the reason they sell over 100 million systems is because of 3rd party, not 1st party. The folks historically buying PS consoles for all of the multiplats are instead going to be going for Xbox. Additionally, when friends want to be able to play together on games, those friends are going to also be buying Xbox consoles now. In my experience, the single biggest factor for whether someone I knew had a PS4 or Xbox One was whichever one friends were playing on.
Why they could still do like Nintendo and be an exclusive console. If Microsoft makes all games exclusives then yeah it might hurt them but it could hurt Activision sales too.

Well I think what they might do is say "Its not exclusive to Xbox, Gamepass is available for other systems such as computers and smartphones..." and the implication is that they will try to get GamePass onto PlayStation and possibly Switch as well. Which would be great for gamers, you only need one system to have all of your games in one place. Well except for Nintendo stuff at least not yet, we will see about that.

I think why a lot of people will be pissed off with this acquisition and if COD becomes exclusive to Xbox is the fact that a lot of people probably spent a lot of time and money to get a PlayStation for Christmas to play the likes of COD and future crash games etc for 2 weeks later to be told that these games most likely won't be coming to that brand new PS that they have bought and not everyone can afford to buy every system to play certain games.
I think what this means is that Xbox will honor all the old COD games and deals that have been established by contracts, but no newer contracts/games going forward

Sony exclusives were and are Superior to Xbox's. That said Xbox does have good exclusives, and will get better after all the acquisitions they've made. But as of now, Sony is on top.

@@ghostlegitSpeaking strictly on quality of content, Sony has one of the most solid line ups you could ask for with the likes of Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us, Uncharted, God of War, and Horizon. All top notch games. Microsoft has relied on just a few of it's core series like Halo, Gears, and Forza. All solid in their own right, for sure. We could certainly go back and forth with even more exclusives per console, as both the libraries they've built are some of the best and biggest franchises gaming has ever had. I know Sony needs to start making major moves now before they do fall behind.
Damn. Didn’t expect that. I just find the fact the Nintendo is minding their own business and making their games, while Sony and Microsoft are out there battling it out fiercely very funny and hilarious 😂 I can’t explain why that is. That’s also how I feel about this entire thing. I’m just there playing with my switch being comfortable while watching the Series X and PS5 fighting fiercely and Sony and Xbox fans gathering and endlessly debating against each other. Oh and don’t think I’m saying that Nintendo is superior than both. I acknowledge that the Series X and PS5 are leagues above the switch without question and have the better power, hardware and graphics with arguably the better games. I just find this entire situation very funny. And again, I don’t know why.
Most game companies are chasing graphics, power, cloud and pushing the envelope. Nintendo seem to make a deliberate point of using underpowered, limited hardware and then focusing on games and simple fun.

This will be an inverse of exclusivity with bullying. If Sony wants Call of Duty, they will need to have Game Pass. They spent the money to get Game Pass. This is $15 a month per console owner.
For COD to go entirety Xbox without dropping past games, the hardest thing is Warzone. If I understand it right the main games and Warzone work off one another a lot, and with Warzone being multiplatform you have to keep all releases to at least all platforms that Warzone is on.
I remember buying a PS3 just for the Heavy Rain bundle at one time.. "exclusives" belong in the 90s when it was still about big hardware differences and games built in-house that defined the consoles.

This is MS attempt at making their subscription service the norm and do away with physical media. They don’t have to release complete games anymore at launch if people are just paying a subscription to play subpar games. And these casuals that play CoD are stupid enough to pay that price. When gaming goes to subscription only and I can’t buy a disc, I’m done.

Yeah eventually only a few huge studios making AAA and we will see more annual madden type cash ins, and games released less often IMO as time/money to make one continues higher. Annual cash grabs will of course continue yearly. Not long to rehash the same stuff. I think indie games are the future of gaming as AAA slows down due to costs/time to make games.
I wonder too if by Phil saying “he wants to keep call of duty on PlayStation” that he may also try to negotiate for PlayStation exclusives like Spider-Man to be on both systems in exchange for call of duty. We’ve seen it before with mlb the show being literally a PlayStation game going on Xbox. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw something like that again.

I think Activision & Xbox seriesX are making Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Starcraft, and Overwatch, into VR versions of these games within a Microsoft metaverse.

Whenever I enable an unlimited money cheat on a game, I don't really care what my competition has to offer me. So I'm leaning towards COD being gamepass only in the future
If Warzone is the only thing remain on PlayStation then it should remain separate from the main line COD games. It needs its own weapons and own progression system.

Next gen Xbox will be an app, a subscription & maybe a controller.
I think it will be both. A console for premium experience and app/dongle for pickup and play. Abit like we see now with xcloud

I think this is the begining of the end for physical hardware. Acquiring IPs now and down the road gamepass will be the Netflix of gaming. All cloud based. There is no money in console hardware, and Microsoft known that better than anyone now. Here's my prediction...there might be a console from Sony and Microsoft after this generation... But that'll be it. I'd bet Nintendo will be the last man standing in terms of hardware. Call me crazy if you want. But one day you'll see this comment and go damn, he was right.
Consoles will be made , physical copies of games on the other hand will go away. GameStops are closing down and digital sales are increasing. Microsoft wants that streaming type service that Netflix has but with games as a subscription service where you can get any game you for 15 dollars monthly subscription.

I do think PS5 is gonna take a huge hit from this. Sony may get good sales from their first party titles, but the reason they sell over 100 million systems is because of 3rd party, not 1st party. The folks historically buying PS consoles for all of the multiplats are instead going to be going for Xbox. Additionally, when friends want to be able to play together on games, those friends are going to also be buying Xbox consoles now. In my experience, the single biggest factor for whether someone I knew had a PS4 or Xbox One was whichever one friends were playing on.

Well I think what they might do is say "Its not exclusive to Xbox, Gamepass is available for other systems such as computers and smartphones..." and the implication is that they will try to get GamePass onto PlayStation and possibly Switch as well. Which would be great for gamers, you only need one system to have all of your games in one place. Well except for Nintendo stuff at least not yet, we will see about that.

I think Sony will focus more on moving their first party game to PC and make some extra money.
I think why a lot of people will be pissed off with this acquisition and if COD becomes exclusive to Xbox is the fact that a lot of people probably spent a lot of time and money to get a PlayStation for Christmas to play the likes of COD and future crash games etc for 2 weeks later to be told that these games most likely won't be coming to that brand new PS that they have bought and not everyone can afford to buy every system to play certain games.
I think what this means is that Xbox will honor all the old COD games and deals that have been established by contracts, but no newer contracts/games going forward

We could certainly go back and forth with even more exclusives per console, as both the libraries they've built are some of the best and biggest franchises gaming has ever had. I know Sony needs to start making major moves now before they do fall behind.

Most game companies are chasing graphics, power, cloud and pushing the envelope. Nintendo seem to make a deliberate point of using underpowered, limited hardware and then focusing on games and simple fun.

For COD to go entirety Xbox without dropping past games, the hardest thing is Warzone. If I understand it right the main games and Warzone work off one another a lot, and with Warzone being multiplatform you have to keep all releases to at least all platforms that Warzone is on.

This is MS attempt at making their subscription service the norm and do away with physical media.
