Quartet Excelsior (Eku), Japan's leading permanent string quartet, has commissioned a new work to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The commissioned new work, “String Quartet For Eku,” composed by Shogo Sakai, known for his compositions for the games “Kirby's Dream Land” and “MOTHER 3,” consists of four movements and was given its world premiere in Tokyo on November 1, 2024, and in Kyoto on November 6, 2024.
