I have the 987.1S... and love it. My first Porsche and it hasn't disappointed. I would dearly love to own a 911 but unfortunately, in my price bracket I could only afford a well-loved (run down) item. Import taxes make luxury cars very expensive in Australia.
Videos like this help break down the "hairdressers' car" stigma attached to the Boxster. Like you said, get out and drive one. Keep the clips coming

The first Porsche I fell in love with was the 928. The 911 was never the one I wanted. The second Porsche to grab my attention was the Boxster. I finally bought a 2009 Boxster S with a PDK and couldn't be happier.

I was keen to buy a Boxster or Cayman, read your book, The Practically Free Sportscar, & after reading it bought a 2010 987.2 Boxster in May 2023.
Thanks for taking the time to write a fantastic & informative book, I read it over & over and gained quite a bit of important information.
I've owned my .2 for 5 months now & 1000 miles and can honestly say it's a great car & I'm fully aware of the variants that came before & after it thanks to you.
Thanks for your insight & knowledge.
    Next, Mmmm, air cooled 911?

Thanks for your comments and for reading my book.
It really means a lot to think that I've played a small part in someone's decision to buy a Porsche 🙂. I'm glad you're enjoying your Boxster. I'm having a lot of fun in mine. Today I was out in my 993..... that's a lot of fun too and definitely worth considering at some point . Porsche ownership can be a slippery slope 🙂

Wow, 2 new vids in one night! Agree with your comments - Boxster or air-cooled 911? Very different animals. I've been lucky enough to have owned 2 911s (1991 964 C4 and my current 1996 993 C2) and 3 Boxsters (2 986s and a 987) so I can see where you're coming from. Both are outstanding cars and I definitely think for the top-down 'wind in the hair' experience I prefer the Boxster because I look at the soft-top 911s and think ''pram'. Don't like soft-top Ferraris either...Tin-top all the way for me. Lucky to have been able to experience both of the Porsches. You need to try a 928 for a completely different experience! Had a 1991 928S4 and a 1993 GTS and loved them both for their lazy V8 vibe (still pretty fast though...). Keep the interesting stuff coming. Cheers from a (still windy) Otford, Kent.

Cheers Neil. You have an impressive car history! Agreed on the 911 convertible roof albeit the 992 soft top does a decent job of maintaining the fast back roof line. I love the 928. The GTS is the one! My uncle bought a 928 recently. Think I'll be having a go in it soon 😊. ... ..Scotland is stormy tonight due to Hurricane Agnes

Hi Robert really enjoy your videos.
I’m looking to purchase a 987 Boxster but am frightened to death about bore scoring and IMS seal issues.
Any advice, or should I just look for a 2009 , 2.9 which I believe doesn’t have the issues.
    Thanks
    Vince.

      Thanks Vince
Yes a 987.2 base is a great all rounder and doesn't suffer from bore score or ims issues. Boxsters are the best value Porsche imo. If you want to know everything about them please feel free to check out my Boxster book. I think you'll get real value from it. 🙂

Hi Vince, I bought a 2009 boxster about 2 years ago. Your right these dont have the bore scoring and ims issues. Not only that they have fuel injection and where the first truly new boxster model for some time. Hence the price difference from previous models. Love it couldnt be happier.

Hi Kirk, glad your enjoying your car.
I’m test driving one tomorrow, 2011 2.9 with a few nice options.
It’s 89K miles but has good history and passed its mot today.
Any tips for things to look out for on my test drive ?
      Cheers
      Vince.

Apart from the usual, good service history, tyres and breaks. The downsides are with badly maintained cars, on most models some of the break pipes needed replacing early. I had to replace the plugs and coil packs. Sourced them on line, and got a specialist to do the job for £50.00 an hour. Hate to think what it would have been at Porsche. Mine is quite a high spec, I think some people realised the significance of the model change, and decided to go for the best spec they could reasonably afford.

@@vincetaylor944 check for knocks and rattles from the exhaust and suspension. Check the history meticulously. Check for excess smoke from the exhaust on startup. Check the roof a few times. What's been spent? What's due to be spent? Hpi check. Water ingress? What oil has been used? Check all fluids. Inspect the oil cap. Check every switch works. Check the MOT history. What fuel has been used. Crash damage? Insurance claims?
