Unaddressed conflict leads to resentment.
Obfuscation and refusal to say the issue is a very common reality. Pulling the string is good SOP but the issue above requires deft leadership skill at times.
What is the dichotomy of this scenario such as where a resolution cannot be attained to your liking or a mutually beneficial result? Where questioning inflames the situation or complicates it further? Where is it resembles or is a sugar cookie situation?

Yes and no. Family can be the most difficult. I had a vision and she another. She (my daughter in this instance) kept saying "I don't like it." I kept probing, "I don't like it" About the raised flower bed design. We had worked all day, in the sun, we were getting tired and cranky, behind schedule. I said this is not helping me "I don't like it." I cannot work with that - not enough information. What exactly do you not like? I purchased and brought lumber for enough to do three levels she was at two, which meant the lower level was not raised. Silly reason - she did not want to step into the bed. Shaking head. Okay then. I have a couple of extra sticks. We went round and round. "I don't like it." I got that. Now it is funny but in the heat of the moment we were not communicating on the same frequency. Just a little shift and the puzzle solved it's self. Sometimes we have to put our self in the subordinate position. See through their eyes, RFI ? Request for information. A lot like a dog chasing his own tail. Fun to watch but not so much fun for the dog. This was a good episode thank you. Put enough of these out there and once in a while we are bound to get lucky. At a minimum not screw it up any worse than it already is. Okay pat on the back, kick in the pants and back to work.
