This is the best demo of this amp (or any other amp) I have ever seen. No clown show, no non essential yapping, "just the facts ma'am" as Joe Friday used to say. My bank account is in serious jeopardy over this,
Danny Gill is my favorite guitar teacher.....by far!!!! He has taught me sooooo much!!
best marshall out on the market right now
Finally someone who knows how to make a real review for an amp! Great demonstration of what the amp can do and great playing too :)
wish he played some chords though for OD 1&2 instead of just soloing and dive bombs
He did a amazing job😎
Nice demo, Danny!!! What up, bratha?
Joe, from the the Speak No Evil days.
My brother Dave L. Running sound for you guys Curtis, Lee, Greg and Frazier!!!
I would love to have one, but I'm not ready to sell my truck and walk to work to get one. Wish I had that kind of money. But damn it sure sounds sweet
You can mount up on the 4x12 cab and roll to work.
mudbutt38 well did you get one
I just purchased this amp. I have always been a Dual Rec guy but it's funny that as I got older I returned to a hard classic rock sound and this amp can do it and much more. Just a matter of taste. I had the multi-watt version of the Dual Rec and it is a great amp, but my taste has evolved or regressed depending on how you look at it. BTW, what convinced me is due to the fact that my neighbor lent me the JVM for a week and I just fell in love with it. And to think that years back I did not like the JVM, but this was due to the fact that I had only tried the JVM at Guitar center and only for 15 minutes at most.
What the hot hell is this? I can hear the guitar pick hit the strings. You demoed a Ferarri at 10mph.
Michael Labbé FYI the cab is in a separate room, you are listening to a mix of 2 mics
I know WHY do demo people record the acoustic portion of the guitar while playing through an amp!? Especially when your trying to demo the amp, a high gain amp at that! sheesh
I believe the strings come from the voice mic, that they don't turn down when the cab mic kicks in
I've played a tonne of Marshall's over the years and this is hands-down the best I've played. In fact, it is my favourite amp period.
I had a original JCM 800 in 1983. In 2003 I got a JCM 2000 DSL 100. I've played that DSL all those years and loved it dearly. Still do
This JVM is outta site
Wow
Danny used to be an instructor of mine at GIT. Great guitar player. I remember DG will a little more hair though. ;-D He made me subscribe to the channel. The sound of the JVM 410H makes me want to go drop some wampum on the head and a straight 4x12 cab. Good stuff.
I realise this is a really old video, however the description of the master volume is incorrect. It is not master 1 controls 2 channels, master 2 controls the other 2 channels, both masters control all channels, the second one is there to give you a boost you can toggle via the foot switch for solos and stuff
Correct, got this amp as well. Also none of the footswitch buttons are not designed to effect reverb only 😅
thanks for the review
What a wonderfull playing. You can clarely see that Danny shines when improvising for demoing the amp. When he does the DVD, on the other hand, he stays true to the band he's tributing or the lessons he gives. Totally beast.
I love this head, its my 3rd amp. Best amp ever IMO. It does some nice clean, and some really good metal sounds.
Really nice playing style. This guy knows what we like.
This guy sold it for me!
Sold! On both the amp & the ESP!
Gosh darn that thing sounds beautiful. If you get a killer pedal board in front of that, with the 12 channels, the options are overwhelming.
This was absolutely more helpful than the damned booklet that came with the amp itself. And you don't need EMG's; I play every conceivable guitar through it, so do visitors, and it always sounds fantastic. Nice work, Mr. Gill, keep it up!
I have one of these and LOVE it! It does everything very very well. So versatile and usable. It really is as simple as selecting the channel and you are on your way from country pickin' to thunderous shred and monster metal tones. TRY ONE and you will sell all your other amps!!!
You were right,I sold my Soldano SLO and replaced it with JVM.
Damn dude your playing is some kind of badass! Oh, love the amp too.
Master volume 1 controls the overall sound. Master volume 2 can be assigned to any channel for lead boost etc...
What a great player and amp
Turn the thing up! You can hear the strings over the amp!
It's a great thing tho.. getting great tone at low volume
Superb review. Subscribed now.
Amazing guitarist and amp!
Hey Danny, always love your reviews. I was curious what bridge pickup you are using in that guitar?
Really good review and playing, I just wish you had mic'd it someway that we couldn't hear the sound of the pick hitting the actual strings. That way we could get a feel for how the amp responds to pick attack.
Based on this, it sounds like this amp can do everything except for possibly super-crunch chuggs for metal (both because of the mic issue I mentioned and the style of playing that was used)
At 3:36 sounds like old cover I used to do. Great White - Face the Day. I played it differently, you seemed to play correctly! Nice if you even know you were covering that one! Great playing man!
Theres a nice charm this Marshall has. Its very nice.
Danny Gill seems like such a nice dude. I like anything he does.
My next amp for sure.
I fucking love my JVM410!!!!
Joshua Carter We can tell; you have it as your profile picture
This guy plays amazing🎸😎👍
great geeeeeetar playin man.top notch.very enjoyable vid.
What Danny said about the master volumes at the beginning is wrong, they are independent volumes for 2 different settings controlled by the master volume switch below the knobs
Yeah, he got it wrong. The second MV can be used as a volume boost with the foot controller in all the channels. At about 10:05 he contradicted himself about how to use it.
Good review
Im old school but this thing is fucking awesome! it can pull off nearly all the Marshall sounds.
Great tasteful player..
Thanks a lot mate
I don't like too many marshalls but this one omg!
Love the OD1
Yeah, this is a great amp. I play it with mainly with a Fender Strat and a Gibson Black Beauty Gibson Les Paul guitar. And it sounds so great.
This guy is amazing!
Im trying to play what you played when you reviewed the clean green mode. sounds very cool (:
"On the JVM head, lately Dave's been going with these settings. All numbers are referring to "clock position" settings - so, "12" would be with the knob turned with marker pointing straight up, which should be the half-way setting.... "
The Marshall JVM amp is for real. I own a 215C (1x12combo) and have had the best sounding recorded lead and crunch sounds I have heard, including anything thats been professionally recorded. It just sings and is almost no effort to get the sounds you want.
Yes, I own a Gibson LP but use a Dean Hardtail Select for most of what I record of late (made in Korea $500 new, stock pups) and the sound is incredible. I am impressed, although I love Marshalls, (I owm a JCM DSL 20000), this amp rocks!
I use the clean amber moder , is great!
So what is the best way to get great overdriven tube tone out of this amp at low volumes? Set the channel volume high (around 7) and set the Master volume low?
I wouldn't use a distortion pedal. I would just need to hook up my crybaby and other effects like chorus, phaser and delay.
danny gil = AWESOME PERSON - AWESOME GUITARIST !!!
Ok so how does each channel compared to other marshalls, whats the best settings to get a plexi sound out of it? Is a jcm800 sound in there? Jcm 900? Tsl??
What effect does the resonance and presence have, recommended settings?
Yes you can play well but...more on the amp?
I do have the amp but I'm sure there is more in it then playing riffs over each channel!...
Those el34s barely got warm!! Get em cooking! 😝
Danny nice playing, enjoyed your playing! Do you play in a pro band? Killer riffs!
I was wondering if this new JVM at 100 watts would sound good in overdrive channels with out cranking up MV past 2-3. I play in cover band at moderate volumes in medium venues. I think these newer 100 watt heads are built more preamp anyway. The old marshalls never sounded good unless you turned up loud or use attenuator. I would always go 50 watt, but like the body of 100.
This guy is an excellent example of musicality and chops.
I just bought a JVM205H 50w. What are your panel tone settings on the clean and overdrive channels? I play classic rock and heavy metal.
i own one. worht every penny! puts a smile on my face everytime i use it!
The part he played on the red channel on the 2nd overdrive channel an actual song?
Finally got mine after years of waiting, I’ve heard you can pull off a plexi super lead but I haven’t been able to dial it in, any suggestions?
If I plug in my boss pedal do I need to worry about accidently stacking distortion? like I have crunch or OD set on my amp head and also have distortion on my pedal too? is that bad for to stack distortions?
best jvm review in the whole fuckin'web!5 stars sir
He is clearly a big fan of those overdrive channels
if your into all types of music this is the best amp
Did you test the marshall head without using any cabinet?
What would you set all the knobs to if you wanted to get close to a Megadeth tone?
You should have cranked the gain on OD2 to truly capture the maximum amount of distortion.
The red mode in the clean channel sounds very foo fighters
It's like the Mode Four on STEROIDS!! If this had it's older bro's metallic grill and logo....damn!!
Great great great guitar player
I know this is an uneducated question but I was wondering if anyone knew if the volume knobs on this amp act as an attenueator? Like if I turn up the master will it drive the tubes and get that driven sound and then use the volume to lower the volume?
worth every penny!!!!
It just amazes me that so many demos that could have been great just use the camera mic for the guitar sound and the acoustic sound of the pick hitting the strings is as loud as the actual amp sound from the speaker! This amp sounds MUCH better than displayed here despite excellent playing the sound of the room mic is just rubbish.
you play some nice chords
Gee! It only took Marshall 40 + years and Guitarist endorsement to develop a decent clean tone. Wow, those sure are some innovative engineers working for Marshall! It's no wonder Soldano, ENGL, Diezel, Carvin, etc took over where Marshall used to be the last word on rock amps.
Look at the Review of "Session" on UA-cam, he tests this amp with different guitars, Strat (Hum), Strat (Single), Les Paul, Esp with EMG's and an Ibanez7 String!
But its on german, but anyway!
Hi, just a comment: I think that Master Volume 2 controls a kind of boost on comand at the external footswitch? At least thats happening at my amp?
Exactly, he got it wrong when he said master 2 was for the bottom channels, master one and master two work on all 4 channels, master two comes into play when you hit switch position 5, I always use master 1 as my rhythm volume and master 2 as my lead volume no matter what channel I am using or what mode on that channel I am using.
The DI out passes through cheap TL072 opamps.
Only use it when there is no other option available...
I like your avatar ;) Did you get those settings off the Megadeth website? (Scorpion) ?
• CLEAN CHANNEL: Green mode on. Volume - 12, Bass - 2, Midrange - 10, Treble - 3, Gain - 11
• CRUNCH CHANNEL: Not normally used
• OD 1: Red mode on. Volume - 10, Bass - 11 to 1, Midrange - 12 to 3, Treble - 12 to full up, Gain - 12 to 2
• OD 2: Red mode on. Volume - 9 to 11, Bass - 11 to 1, Midrange - 11 to 4, Treble - 1 to full up, Gain - 1 to 3
• Reverb: Clean channel only, at 7 or 8 o'clock
• Presence: 3 o'clock
• Resonance: 12 to 2 o'clock
I love that ESP,What model is it?
Man what song was that at 9:40? That sounded so amazing!
Good question! I also want to know
Nothing is like a Marshall, right?
Did you use a Noise Gate in this record?
Man I love the guitar, what is it ? ?
Odd question, but does anyone know the name of the song that is being played after the reverb is switched on? he plays just a few notes of a song picking that I recognize but can't seem to find the name. It's the one that is on the 4th fret 5th string, then 6th fret 4th string and 8th fret 3rd string. strings 1 and 2 are open.
+TStix H I think it may be Hendrix you are hearing, little wing or so ;)
what was the cab it is plugged into is it the standard cab?
What pickups does he have in the middle and neck positions?
He has set the EQ flat so you are not getting the wide range of sounds in this amp.It doesn't have a "million" knobs. Each channel is a basic layout with three modes to each channel. He should really have done different EQ settings.
beautifull chord at 4:07 4:08
He's shredding
yeah :p thanks ^^
hey guys, i'm searching for a marshall amp that gives high gain but also crystal sound for playing stuff like lamb of god and machine head, is this JVM 410H suitable for this kind of music or not?
I wish amp reviewers would do more riffing and chugging on the OD channels instead of pretty much just squiddling a generic solo
Nah, there are too many people just chugging in reviews. I need to hear people who can actually play to know what the dynamics of the amp are like.
But why can't there be both ? Surely you want to hear what it sounds like for more than just solos
Dave Bostock there are plenty of idiots playing open, first fret palm muted bullshit and generic sweep trash in videos with every amp you can think of. People who took time to learn more want to hear dynamics.
Billy Bates Haha, snobbish answer much? Still doesn't make any case for why there can't be both because just soloing isn't showing off dynamics. The best way to show an amp off is surely to show how it responds to as much variety as possible especially for things that are the most used yet it would seem the majority of reviews focus solely on how it sounds to randomly jam a generic solo which is fine if everyone is only looking for an amp to busk in city centres with
Dave Bostock i guess you couldnt bother actually watching it. Whatever.
4:22, just couldnt help myself but go "yyyyyyeeaaaaaaaaAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH" Highway Star!
Marshall, Marshall, Marshall, what about meee. (Jan from the Brady Bunch, 1972 or was it every other amp that wants to be a Marshall, 2013?)
I need help finding an amp! I want one of these, but 50-60 watts. Any suggestions? Been looking and so far I have tried: JSX, 6505, 5505, 6262 and they are not what I want.... and Dual rectifier is way too expensive. The JCM-series is nice, but lacks some channels in my opinion. I now have a Bugera 333 which I really like, but it makes WAAAAY too much noise when I am not playing. Suggestions?
LarryLynx get a noise gate pedal, noise gone and you don't need a new amp.
Noise gates?
You can find a used JCM 2000 TSL for about $600. It's a 3 channel Marshall so you have a bit more than the DSL. I love mine. I own or owned every JCM Series amp and it's my favorite for gigging. I really want this JVM though. It's like a 12 channel amp with MIDI.
vorrei sapere che cabinet usa... per rendermi conto della timbrica, si può sapere? ciao e grazie
how JVM410 fit the column? (sorry for my bad english)
salut, who can tell me the model of his esp guitare, thanks...
