Great review! I would love to test them out. To answer your question, the cleaning tool is actually used for hearing aids. So, the magnet at the end is to help people remove or put in the battery in the small compartment.
Campfire Audio is a true example of monkeys on a typewriter. Make enough kilobuck IEMs and you'll eventually make a decent one. They were just really lucky that they made the Andromeda early on because that has been their legacy ever since. Could you imagine the rest of their lineup without the context of the Andromeda?
Campfire has a very distinct approach to design and the overall image of the company. I love them for this particular thing but the sound of most of their stuff is a bit on a teenager level.
Considering that the Supermoon, their previous unit went sale down to 899, which is like half of the cost after certain years, I expect this to happen again. Simply because I like that tuning, looking good.
Thank you for your great reviews, which have helped me make a decision regarding which DAP to buy. One thing I noticed during your reviews, is that we have a lot of music in common. Is it by antý chance possible for you to share a Spotify playlist, so I can follow you and hopefully discover some new great music?
It took me a year of thinking before I bought my Kato and at the time I bought it it was around 140USD (and sadly broken just 3 days ago after 3 years, the 2 pin jacks caved in and dropped into the shell when it'a never been treated with any significant force whatsoever). I can't imagine buying a kilobuck IEM (not that I'll ever have that much money to spend for an IEM, even my PC was 800 USD back in 2018). I wish I could though. My dream is not even buying a kilobuck but something close like Thieaudio Origin.
I love your reviews. The only thing that I am missing is the nozzle diameter. So many new iems come out I want to try but finding the dimension is impossible most of the time.
Thank you for the review Mark❗️☀️Did you try Supermoon and Astrolith?Any impressions... I am actually going to meet up this weekend, and there should be Moonrover and other CA stuff + some Noble audio..✌️ ❤️ 🙋♂️
I've heard Supermoon before, it sounded a lot like the other 14mm planars -- bassy, kinda closed in imaging, a little trebly. Astrolith sounded way too bassy and trebly for me, it's like Supermoon on steroids.
This feels like a bit of a wierd release. Planars like the Timeless took off because they were actually somewhat affordable. Would be interesting to hear something like these or what 64 Audio offer some day although I'm super happy with my S12s and a bit of EQ quite frankly.
At least Campfire's planar actually sounds pretty distinctly different, I feel like most of the planars over the past few years (including the 64 Audio) are all tuned in the same direction (bassy, warm, various degrees of treble).
@@chickenpie9698 I actually had both the campfire moon rover and the s12 2024 to compare and it wasn’t even close. The s12 sounded muffled and like I was listening to music through water in comparison to the moon rover, which is super detailed
@@SuperReview that's a fair point. If somebody is after a planar and wants that particular tuning then it may justify the price for them. I think that part of me still bawks at prices like these as I remember the RHA planar being released back in the day and not even being aware at the time that there were IEMs that expensive.
@@mageborn23 that's good to hear really, you'd expect there to be tangible improvements in areas like detail due to the price difference. I know the S12 aren't the most resolving out there as I have more detailed headphones to compare them to although I've yet to hear an IEM which sounds as good as the original S12 can be had for which is why they stull stand out to me.
Wow back to back Endgame planars! I'm broke with Solo only. Need to ask Jaytiss 😆. Jokes aside, after a certain point Value for money is equally subjective as that of sound.
Definitely. Moon Rover is like Ara for me -- I want one, I really like the combination of form factor and sound, but apart from some unique characteristics I'd be hard pressed to say they sound better e.g. Dusk at a third of the price.
I am a bit let down that you never compare the quality of the included eyebrow brushes, especially when they have the magnetic collector for our metallic eyelashes
Are these screws real or just a shape? If they are real, it may be easy to make some adjustments or even buy components of the same type or structure and install a different driver.
@@SuperReview it kinda is, but it was unique for the time. By the 2020, there was so much out that surpassed the new one. The orginal came out in the right place, at the right time.
I bought the CA Andromeda stainless steel 4 years ago at a decent discount. I'm sure there's a million IEMs on the market nowadays that surpasses the Andromeda, but I really have no interest in them. Everytime I put them in and turn on my music, my ears purr 😊 What more could I want?
@@SuperReview I am curious how they arrive at the price of $1,199. Are the individual parts really expensive, or is that price more reflective of the work put in by the engineers?
The magnet on the cleaning tool is to get batteries out of hearing aids. That brush is part of hearing aid cleaning kits
Thank you!
Thanks for the shout out!
hey mark ryan im folks
I thought I was the only one 😳
Thank you for all great reviews this year. Happy Thanksgiving 😊😊

Well said. Most of them are garbage. It's a shame because they are well built, mostly. The shapes are weird on some of them.
I've heard at least THREE top-notch Campfire Audio models, including my own pair, the Dorado.
To be fair... some people really love their stuff that I don't.
@@tastykimchiOFDOOM I actually like Campfire iems. The Fathom is my daily driver and an amazing iem.
The ponderosa, the moon rover, and astrolith are the only ones ive heard from them, and i loved all those.
It sounds good man, I think the pricier Astrolith is even better in terms of sound. But yeah the pricing on that one breaks my heart.
Maybe this is a return to form for CFA?
Good review as usual!
Campfire cannot be contained 😅
Love Astrolith ❤

If I've learned one thing over the past few years, it's that bass heads spend money.
Considering that the Supermoon, their previous unit went sale down to 899, which is like half of the cost after certain years, I expect this to happen again.

Yeah I like this quite a bit more than the Supermoon.

I'd love to, but the only playlist on Spotify I really use is the automated "Liked song" on and I can't seem to share that.
glad to see some american iems reviewed recently :D

Moon Rover is 6.0mm, Solo is 5.5mm.

👍 My main IEMs these days are Symphonium Helios and 64audio U4s, still have to order the M12 though(talking bassy)... ✌️😆❤️

@SuperReview True $400 and $600 have done so good this year. That endgame need to be reinvented now.
How do you like the Solo?
@@charlesjag3407 Review dropping day after tomorrow. A lot to discuss!
I found it sounded best with the eletech baroque tips
I've been meaning to try those tips.

I just don't think my 5-star scale is up to the task.
are there any tws that is close to your neutral preference without eq?
AirPods Pro 2

I haven't tried to unscrew them but I think they're real, Campfire hand builds these from what I understand.

Its been 8 years. The original 2016 andromeda was never really surpassed.
Ehhhh, I personally much prefer Andromeda 2020. Maybe my head space when I heard the older version, but it seemed a bit wooly-warm-bright.
I prefer Andromeda 2020 too tbh

They look beautiful too.
I listened to this at CanJam Dallas and it stood out amongst the other 2 Planars I really liked (FatFreq Prototype and Solo)
Nice review!
🤙
lol I bought a pair at canjam Dallas 😂
Pls help me bro im confused tell me 5 best iems in 500$
I'm waiting
My Campfire Dorado is AMAZING for heavy metal.
I have a friend who also loves his Dorado. I do not :P But happy you do!
It's kinda stupid to pay over 1 grand for junky non modular cable, $10 planar driver, and a $10 shell
Imagine a world where there are people different than you.
