Love the videos, cheers from Texas you really do a great job of showing people how to get a feeling in their swing instead of bombarding them with technical thoughts.
Wow wow and wow... just tried this on the driving range.. fixed so much of my issues! Mindblowing. This is some elite tips right there! Cant thank you enough mr. Crossfield!
I love how clear this is demonstrated Mark! Definitely a winner with these examples of what is different and what we’re looking for at impact. It took me a while to explore how to do this and unlearn what I was doing before pulling my body in the wrong sequence and wrong directions. I’m interested in seeing how these drills will help me refine that feel…
Be doing these club drills for a few weeks, even during a round. Really has helped me rotate better and got the ball more solidly, even helped to stop swaying. Simple, easy drill.
This helped greatly to get out of my flat swing funk,. I was finally extending through the impact zone aggressively again, reliably repeatable. I was guilty of the cupping and inconsistent impacts you described. Shot 77 taking it to the course immediately the next day after watching this. Thanks Mark! New sub :)
This absolutely blew my mind out of the water... I'd been very happy with a lot of my swing moving my handicap from 27 to 15 over the last 8 months but still struggled with consistent ball striking... took this tip to the range this morning and holy shit if I wasnt striping the centre of everything!!! Project Scratch is looking much better now. THANK YOU
thank you so much!!! I have been working so damn hard on my rotation correcting the movements of hips, knees, arms, elbows, posture etc... nothing worked((( continued turning around with all the mistakes you demonstrated ((( that really depressed me so much! now I feel like I finally got it... going to try right away!
Great drill #(1)… the club and club head in your arms as you tilt and turn is a game changer. Very similar to S&T which I’ve adopted over the years. Will be using that in preparation for this season. Thanks for the tip.
Man this video is money, I just had my first golf lesson today, and this was my biggest challenge, definitely implementing these tips! Seems like it will work
Got a ‘feel’ for this at home and took it to the course… shot a best ever 85. Previous week was 97. This has made a huge difference across my entire game.
Good interesting video, ive managed to get down to 5 hcp in my 60s and this is what ive learned! Most golfers confuse the Shoulders (which are the main speed producers, as in any athletic event/other sport you've played well) with the Torso. Most golfers swing the Clubhead away or pick it up, with their hands and arms then turn their Torso, this is weak and underpowered so they then use their right shoulder at the top to power the clunead at the ball. Im going to ignore lower body action and ground pressure which is obv vital But focus on the chest/pecs micro seconds early helping activate/load the shoulder joint muscles, the handle is the last thing to move. Both shoulder/pec are turning down around and up,It is this sequencing that keeps the club away from you and ignites your athletic muscles and motion. Golf is like tapping your head and rubbing your stomach, this action is the head tapping and ground pressure, lowerbody action is the rubbing your stomach!
You read my mind, with this video. I’ve often wondered why instructors rarely talk about this crucial element of the swing. It’s SO IMPORTANT! You described it exactly the way I try to think about it in my mind. Hip tilt, shoulder tilt, and side bends are the keys to good golf. I would say wrist conditions are a close second. I rarely save a video, but this one is being “saved”. Absolutely brilliant, Mark. Thank you for this. Do an in depth video on wrist conditions, and my life will feel complete. lol These are the two aspects that I focus on in my own head(tilts, and wrists). And, when done correctly, usually result in a round under par.
The idea is to feel like you make contact or direct the energy of your swing past the ball. So in order to not jam yourself, you need to create the space w your tilt. It’s very difficult to do this at full speed if you’re learning for the first time. Think long arms through the ball! But oh man when it’s right and you are fully extended with the driver feels so good. I was able to hit up on it for the first time ever once I figured it out
Such an important lesson. Something I am continually working on. When I am putting bad swings on it, poor shoulder tilt is often at the root cause. Even hip sway is often rooted in a flat shoulder turn. Feel how difficult it is to sway your trail hip when properly tilting your shoulders and adding side bend. Great drills.
Ive been doing this drill with a weighted "BodyBar" - think it's 15 lbs and use the rotation and point the end down where the ball would be. The weight increasing the momentum in the rotation which I use to help with mobility and loosening me up at the gym but then I use to fire through as if I'm swinging but no arms involved. Just the hips/shoulder rotation and I get a pretty good workout in the core with this.
Great video! This is what Tom Watson did years ago to feel an OTT move. Except in reality his trail shoulder did a 3/4 under turn of his body to force his lower body; lead hip and knee; to get out of his way for his club head to strike directly at and through his ball to the end of his swing. Cheers 👍😃⛳️🥂
Palmer would be proud. I tried to explain this to a friend last year, I was trying to tell him to just point his shoulders at the ball back and through. What I found though is he wasn't flexible enough, simply wasn't in good enough shape. In fact, most the people I play with could probably use with a bit more working out than lessons, you would be surprised at just how inflexible some people are out there.
Great stuff. Not sure the goal here was to increase speeds, but I got that and more center club face out of it when I took it to the range today. Swing speeds that had been topping around 102, jumped up to 108. NICE!
Another drill is to use two alignment sticks. Place one through your loops of pants so it aligns with your hip. Use the second one across shoulder like Mark used in the video. When you complete your turn the shoulder stick has to go under the hip stick. Rather than think of what everything is doing you’re focusing on the last part, your body naturally tilts to achieve it. Shaved strokes and added distance. Love Marks videos, get excited when I see a new one pop up.
I started doing that shoulder turn drill with the club in my arms between swings at the range. It makes something click for sure. I’ve been striking all my clubs much better of late.
just took a couple mins to do practice swings in the living room; amazed at how much better my balance felt throughout my swing 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 can’t wait to go hit sone balls at the range!! Thank you Mark!!
Mark, this is such a helpful tip. Thanks for always putting in the time to explain the little things. Great stuff as always and a warm hello from Scottsdale Arizona.
Thanks Mark, another great video and advise , working it into my game and noticing a large difference in doors. Still waiting for that snow to melt so I can try it on course. Please keep these coming and get a few new games back in the mix with coach, lots of laughs and great golf to watch.
I started doing too much held side bend, and I couldn’t get my club path neutral from in to out. What I did to get a closer to neutral path is simply extend right arm down as I rotated. Made for such simple swing thought and a much straighter and predictable ball flight.
MarkYou know what makes it easier to do that follow through is do what Scottie Scheffler does move your right foot back it almost feels like your taking a slap shot in hockey and makes it very easy to do .
Great drills Mark one of the best I've seen. My problem doing this is after contact, the follow through. I tend to stay in the shoulder down position. Any drill for this would be great.
Another way to think about it is that it helps fix the head position during down swing before impaction. Lowering trail shoulder will help keep some gap between your chin. Your head will less likely move. Makes sense to me.
The hip one really surprised me... Tried it and couldn't work out how to even get the club to go down...😄 Lead knee really feels much more collapsed down to get it to do it compaired to "normal" But once i got it I could really feel how I felt in the ground and could be able to push up in follow through...
Yeah feels.great when done correctly I feel like Tommy Fleetwood. Nice 3-5 yard draws. Way more club head speed and compression. Got lazy and lost this after a month of my best golf ever. Under par! Added 25-30 yards on my 7-iron total.distance. Easy to revert back to the old way especially if you hit too many balls. You get lazy and start using the hands and arms, hand eye coordination and picking the ball. Still playable but you don't get that feeling of smashing through the ball and hearing the ball whizz of the club face like on the telly.
Ouch that's gotta lead to back problems. Just watched a different golf video who was saying this is what NOT to do. Maybe ok for the young pros but those of us that are a little older. I'm keeping my back straighter.
Athletic motion claims to debunk the "side bend myth" using 3d motion tracker sensors. Mark, can you give us your two cents on the contradicting schools of thought?
Right now that left shoulder down move is so huge for me. I thought I wasn't losing posture, but I kept hitting it fat and/or toey. Turns out I was coming out of it a bit in my back swing and then have some early hip extension making it worse. Feeling like I'm staying more down on the back swing has cleaned up my strike a ton. It feels like a huge move but on camera it's maybe 2cm if that.
Are flat shoulder turns resulting from something else? What is the cause? Tight wrists? Improper grip? It’s impossible to think of body parts when swinging and to swing…
Im practicing these positions at home but when I’m on course it’s so hard to implement it. I suppose it’s going to take a lot of practice before it becomes natural. It’s such a foreign movement to me
That's it. You have to record yourself to improve as well so you can keep trying yourself to get your shoulders to swing at that 45° angle. Majority amateurs swing at 40° or less.
Most amateurs dont thave the natural flexibility as the majority of pros ..extra pro like tilt may not be possible without pain or back problems later on.
Great videos. Really like them. But can you focus more on what to right, rather than what not to do. It makes it too much to take in and I almost miss what I’m supposed to do . Just a friendly observation.
Love the simplicity of your videos! As a newer golfer (less than a year), these videos help so much! Thanks from Kunsan AB, Korea!
This is gold Mark, it blows my mind why coaches don’t teach this way. Any player who takes on your drills and feels in this Vid will improve so much.
Best video for ages Mark. Myself included, I rarely see anyone this side of single figures who does this correctly.
Agree. This needs millions of views.
Love the videos, cheers from Texas you really do a great job of showing people how to get a feeling in their swing instead of bombarding them with technical thoughts.
Well done Mark. It's nice to see a coach making the process easy to understand Bavo 👌
Thanks Mark, great lesson ⛳️🏌️♂️👍
Worked on this very thing over the winter. Made a huge difference to my ball striking, very important thing to learn!
Great tip Mark! I try to feel like I am bringing that back shoulder through the ball.
Great video that’ll help a lot of people. Getting more flexible will allow these turns but that starts without a club in your hand.
Thanks!
Wow wow and wow... just tried this on the driving range.. fixed so much of my issues! Mindblowing. This is some elite tips right there! Cant thank you enough mr. Crossfield!

What a fantastic video- just what I needed this is what has been missing from my game.
Be doing these club drills for a few weeks, even during a round. Really has helped me rotate better and got the ball more solidly, even helped to stop swaying. Simple, easy drill.
Somehow this has fixed my slice.. Nice video mate. Thanks for your time.

that downswing portion of the first drill is a wonderful visual.
I’ve been working in this last few months and my thought on backswing and downswing is point shoulder at ball. Strike has definitely improved.
I can get a proper tilt on the backswing but the downswing is where it goes astray. I never thought it was due to the hip movement. Good stuff Mark!
You are welcome. Let me know if it helps.
Got a ‘feel’ for this at home and took it to the course… shot a best ever 85. Previous week was 97. This has made a huge difference across my entire game.

Classy! This is my main issue, and U am currently struggling to overcome it. Thanks!
Moe Norman talked about side bend and hitting from underneath. Side bend & tilt are also staples of the stack & tilt method.
The idea is to feel like you make contact or direct the energy of your swing past the ball. So in order to not jam yourself, you need to create the space w your tilt. Spot. On. Thank you.
Great video, really helpful as I struggle with shoulder rotation
I can so relate to this…
Great video
Great stuff. Not sure the goal here was to increase speeds, but I got that and more center club face out of it when I took it to the range today. Swing speeds that had been topping around 102, jumped up to 108. NICE!
Same for me. On course hit my pw 10 yards longer. Seems to improve rotation and finish to the target. But Can send a hook if not properly done.
Exactly - I know when I do this I hit the ball well. I need to work on this more!
Love this video!!
Great stuff in this one Mark. Really helpful.
What ASICS shoes are you wearing here? Are those golf shoes?
This. is. Gold.
Another drill is to use two alignment sticks.

Absolutely knocking it out of the park here. It 100% agrees with what I see week in week out. Great info and as always delivered so so well

Mark, great video. Is the golf swing nearer to a stack n tilt type swing now ?
Thx Mark …. This was explained so even I understood it. Next up, training at home every day …..
That’s great. Thanks for watching
AMAZING VIDEO.
Thanks Mathew.
Mark, this is such a helpful tip. Thanks for always putting in the time to explain the little things. Great stuff as always and a warm hello from Scottsdale Arizona.

Awesome drill, easy to practice at home.

This is a massive issue I have. I have just tried the drill and initially I was in all the wrong places. Thanks for the drill.
Question: Does a short golfer stand further from the ball, choke up on the club, or use shorter clubs? Im talking 5’-5” height
Shorter clubs!! Generally flatter lie angles as well. Helps immensely with dispersion. Makes you much more confident in your setup. Good luck!
Ouch that's gotta lead to back problems. Just watched a different golf video who was saying this is what NOT to do. Maybe ok for the young pros but those of us that are a little older. I'm keeping my back straighter.

Yes. Come into the shot and stay in the shot. Your lead elbow still needs attention in the finish.

This works wonders but its more tiring than flatter shoulders. Rather shoot 80 with less distance than 70.
I suck at shoulder turn I keep hitting pull fades
pause it at 0:59 seconds that is me. so hard and unnatural feeling to stop doing that
part of this is due to ams wanting to straighten their right arm at impact
