  • Hello Hello,
    Welcome to my video on the 2011 Fiat Panda. The Panda is the practical city car offering from Fiat and the original Panda was popular in the 80's & 90's. It had a boxy aesthetic & this meant it was practical considering its size. There was even a 4x4 variant which was also offered in subsequent models.
    This generation of Panda 'model 169', debuted in 2003, with almost no direct engineering linkage to the first generation. In its development phase, the Panda was intended to be called "Gingo", but Renault objected because it sounded too close to their Twingo.
    Thanks for watching CarsofGlasgow, I hope you enjoyed this Fiat Panda video? If you did smash that like button too!

    Great detailed review again mate, lots of useful information. I actually had one of these a few years back as a wee second car for my work used to drive all over Scotland, doing crazy miles. It was the tried and true 1.2 FIRE engine, u know wat mate it was an awsome wee car, never faulted once cud turn on the spot and good driving position. The wee thing was like a mountain goat it went everywhere and nothing stopped it, even all that snow we had a few years back that was putting alot of expansive brands in bushes or had them stuck in their driveways my wee panda just kept going never getting stuck not once. Even on rhe country roads up north. Basic but fun. Miss that wee thing 😢.

    I have driven many Fiats, mostly the Ulysse. The build quality & reliability is, from my experience, appalling. Still, interesting to see inside a Panda, more legroom than I imagined.❤️🇬🇧Thanks.

    Nice review! I enjoy driving my Fiat Panda 4x4, mine has the 0.9 twinair turbo engine, 875cc 2 cylinders but produces more power and torque than the 4 cylinder 1 2 engine!😯😎👍

    • @CarsofGlasgow
      @CarsofGlasgow  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it!
      That is clever technology! May I ask how you have found that engine in your experience?

    • @pdtech4524
      @pdtech4524 4 роки тому +2

      @@CarsofGlasgow I was initially apprehensive before buying it, that a twin cylinder 875cc engine would be practicle in a car! After doing much reading reviews and owners thoughts on various forums, I came to the conclusion, it was a very mixed bag of opinions! Some loved it, some hated it.
      Even more sceptical, I took this one for a test drive and was pleasantly surprised how nimble it was, sure it has a distinctive engine sound and from inside the cabin quite a sporty roar as the turbo starts to do it's magic, it's quite grin inducing! You quickly forget it's only a small capacity twin cylinder engine, it's so smooth and responsive, it drives like a 4 cylinder 1.2 engine . You do have to keep it in the 'happy' part of the rev range to keep a brisk pace, below 2k rpm it is lacking especially in 5th or 6th gear but keep it between 2 and 4k and you're fine. Although it is very tempting to 'drive' it like a motorbike and take it to the redline each gear change!! 😯😁
      Eco mode feels like the handbrake is on slightly! 😊 I would have preferred, 3 modes, Eco, normal and a sport mode!!
      Sure it's unique and quirky but I think that adds to the whole character of the Panda.
      I get +50mpg on a long run, driving briskly, without eco mode or stop start! The servicing is cheaper, the engine is also a lot lighter than the diesel Road tax only £30 per year.
      Mostly I use it as our daily driving city car, so it is very suited, easy to park, the very short 1st gear makes easy work of crawling in heavy traffic and I guess helps off road! The high ground clearance and long travel suspension makes short work of rough city streets, potholes and speed bumps, soaking it all up with ease.
      I've took it on longer camping trips, with 2 adults a dog and all our gear, it didn't feel heavy or lacking in power, I was still able to easily overtake where needed. We didn't feel cramped, or uncomforttable.
      I'd say it's more suited to a couple with small children, I think with 2 or 3 adults in the back it would struggle?
      In the year I've had it, not had any issues!
      The only negative I can think of is the slightly 'bouncy' ride over undulating roads due to the higher ground clearance. The Panda is quite tall, so you feel side winds more prominently, only took it on a motorway once and you feel this especially passing trucks. Motorway cruising was fine, no excessive engine roar or lacking speed.
      I've noticed there are 2 versions, mine is the 85bhp, there is also a 105bhp!
      Definitely worth a look if you're on the fence 👍😎

    • @CarsofGlasgow
      @CarsofGlasgow  4 роки тому +1

      @@pdtech4524 That is great feedback, I loved the line "eco feels like the handbrake is on"!
      Oh the 105bhp surely would be almost hot hatch levels considering the weight of the car! Thanks :)

    • @pdtech4524
      @pdtech4524 4 роки тому +2

      @@CarsofGlasgow I'd be interested to have a drive in a 105bhp version to compare but would I really want to go back to slightly less power? 😯😁 Apparently the little 85bhp twinair has a better power to weight ratio than the Land Rover Discovery!
      Another thing that surprised me about the twinair was it powered the Fiat Panda 4x4 that drove from Cape Town to London overland and beat the previous record of 11 days set by a Land Rover td5. Drivers Philip Young and Paul Brace beat it by a whole day in their Fiat Panda 4x4 0.9 twinair in 2013. 😎👍

    I also have a 2011 Panda 1.2! It has some extra's like A/C, remote central locking, a rev counter, rear headrests and 50/50 folding rear seats :)

    We have two 2007 Pandas. Build quality is fine and they are doing well at any age never mind at 13 years old. One is a mid spec 1.2 the other is the 1.4 100HP. The 1.4 is cool and quick but the 1.2 is only slightly behind.
