  • Homeless Chileans and people working outdoors in Santiago suffered with the low temperatures caused by a polar wave in the South American nation.
    Early-morning workers in a produce market gathered around a bonfire, drinking coffee to combat the chill while homeless people slept on the streets wrapped in blankets.
    Chile's Social Development Minister, Javiera Toro, announced that the government would bolster programs aimed at protecting people living on the streets during this hazardous season.
    According to Chile’s Meteorological Service, the country is undergoing a cold wave, with the lowest recorded temperature in Santiago over the past few days hitting -1.3 degrees Celsius (29.66 Fahrenheit). - Report from Reuters
