This is our first time hearing BLACKPINK's "Shut Down" and it is a real bop, with lots of throwbacks to prior videos. This video made us glad we reacted to their albums in order so that we could understand a lot of the references to prior videos.

Hi Mr & Mrs Coach. Their live performance of Pink Venom and Shut Down at the Le Gala charity concert in France was great. They were backed by an orchestra and the crowd was fantastic.
We may have to do that one since so many have recommended it.

The match strike was reference to Playing with Fire MV as well. But for the playing with fire MV set Jennie was in a white tub and playing with the match. And in Shut down the tub she was in was black and the match flame was pink😊

While in 'Pink Venom' they made references by respecting senior singers, in 'Shut down' they sprinkled scenes, concepts, and song names from the MVs they released after their debut throughout the MV. The elevator scene, which symbolizes 'shutting down' stepping up while going over each and every memory with Blackpink, is perfect!!!

i HIGHLY recommend Shut Down's dance performance. It's as good as the hylt one. Blackpink's dance practices/performances in general are very interesting to watch.

Yes, you have recognized almost all the references to previous videos. And you have done very well to watch the previous ones first and now this one, because if not, the references cannot be appreciated. Yes, the walkway over the sea is from "Playing with Fire", as is Jennie's bathtub and match.
One fact: The tank is not the same as in Ddu-ddu-du, it is a different tank, that is to say that they lined 2 different tanks with crystals!!
Lisa's truck is from Boombayah and if you remember, that one was full of garbage bags and this one was full of bags full of bills, the same ones that rain down on Jisoo with the umbrella, instead of rain. Coachella is an excellent choice. There is a song, that you have yet to hear, from this album, that has an amazing Coachella performance ( Typa Girl), but Shut Down performance is good there too. Like they say in baseball, "Good eyes, Coach!"...you caught the references and remembered the video referenced as well.

You guys are awesome and have been therapeutic for me. I thought I was the only crazy guy older than 40ish (way older) to fall in love with Kpop. During the pandemic, working from home in my basement, after I had listened to every bit of music 20 times over that I had collected since my first Styx album in the 70's, I wanted to listen to something new. So I started watching music on youtube for the first time. This group Blackpink that I had never heard of kept popping up on the recommended for you feed. I eventually watched one video, watched it again and again, then watched more. I have way less self control than you as I watched every video they had ever made at that time in about 2 days. Wow, it blew my mind and has expanded to where Kpop is pretty much all I ever listen to now. They range of music crosses every genre and there is something for everyone to like except, the other members of my family. Oh well. Thanks again for the affirmation.

Here we go again. While the Coachella performances are great, with a number of the songs on this album, the lyrics are key. Even for the ones that are all English, the performances can be distracting, and dull the effect of the song, so I'd suggest favoring the lyric versions or doing a double - lyric + performance.
Congrats on the sponsorship, but in marketing, the Law of Diminishing Returns is very applicable. So, after you do the promo, you might want to let it rest - you had more throwbacks to the promo than BP had to their old videos, and that can make the reaction feel like an infomercial. ;)

This song/video is about moving forward, in my opinion. Each of the references is "shut down"...not going back. The ending scene shows them getting on an elevator, going up to a new, modern environment.

It was done beautifully and made me shreds some tears. It’s called LaLisa Documentary by tinxlisa. It has over 10M views.
