- We're looking at the WWE 2K23 Icon Edition and is it worth it? Now that all the DLC and major patches are done, we're looking back at the whole game to see if this version was worth picking up. We're also comparing it to the NWO 4 Life edition from last year in WWE 2K22.

Even on the deluxe edition of both 2k22 and 23, I think wwe has to quit with my faction because paying $100 for the deluxe edition both times is not worth it but with knowing I am wanting the dlc I will atleast get the deluxe copy so I don't have to pay the dlc all separate. I would rather cover it all in one go and have it covered ahead of time.
I save more more not buying the seasons pass dlc whatever and just getting 1 or 2 packs that I want since both 2k22 and 23 dlc have been 💩 compared to the past series games 🤷🏽♂️yes there are 5 packs total but 3 of them were trash 😂 so I only get what I want and still save more than the price of the deluxe or icon
They're not going to get rid of it, they make too much money from it now. Making money is all they care about, they don't care if you enjoy the game or not. Which is very clear because the game is absolute dogshit
Just buy season pass you get all dlc packs I bought standard it was cheaper and worth it

What a transition in playability. Going back to 2K19 is a game changer, and less problematic when you're playing for a balanced experience. I don't regret getting 2K23 Deluxe, but it was getting boring too quickly for me, and the pacing is so different, I was unable to get any moves in at times.
Keeping my 2k22 copy was a good thing, as I got those exclusive CC MyFaction downloads (shoutout to WhatsTheStatus and the others), and it feels like a complete package, compared to 23. Both games still have issues not addressed, 2K, but I'm enjoying them for what is offered.
That said, 2K24, playable DX faction (without MyFaction). Hell, DX Deluxe or Collection editions. That's all.
The deluxe edition was worth it, in my opinion. The ruthless aggression pack was worthless besides Randy and the Arena. So buying the Icon edition would be dumb.
Yeah I bought the deluxe this year and last year and definitely got my moneys worth. I play literally every single mode, so those added bonuses for my faction and my rise really helped

2K19 all the way. My disc stopped playing, so i have to stick it out with 2k23 which im sorry- i prefer over 2k22 for a multitude of reasons.
2K24 needs to be a completely different game, it truly needs to hit different and be even stronger or else just re-open online for 2K19.

I'm with you on this one Assemble. I have been playing 2K22 and I hardly play '23 anymore and to think that the game was going to be better with Bryan Williams coming back but it's actually worse with him being back. To me, '22 it is
How is 22 better than 23? In my eyes both games are inferior compared to what we had before besides Wargames. It's just a graphical showcase in a fighting game.

First, when I turn off fatigue in '22, whoever I am playing with does not get tired but in '23, even with the fatigue off, my character gets tired even after getting hit with just 1 finisher. Second, there are certain moves in '22 that cannot be broken up/interrupted. For example, Roman's Superman Punch/Spear combo from the corner cannot be broken up/interrupted in '22 but you can in '23. There are a few more that I can go on about but it won't make a difference now.

I'm really in love with 2K23, having Orton 2009, Batista 2008, Triple H 2008... The crazy Bloodline entrance, Cody Rhodes and so on, I m in paradise with this game YEEEEEAH (but, it can be better, DLC are not big except Wyatt and Barett and there are few bugs here and there...)
If I could I'd go back to 2k14. It's not just nostalgia, it's legitimately an incredible game.

These editions are worthless I wished they did those special editions with the deluxe edition back then with 2k19 and 18
U nailed it on the coffin with the comparisons between 22n 23 I honestly play 22 still bc Greg hamiltons announcing 🔥 plus the little one fall chant at wrestlemania n just the fact ima online player n it doesn’t glitch at all 💯
I was only interested in the Icon Editon if creators used content heavily from it, but they seemed to avoid it in my experience. It felt overpriced all along to me.
Me personally never bothered with others more with base game of 2k23 ofc im still hoping we get bray wyatt in 2k24 as unlockables/Legend line in WWE 2K24 that bray should and should be, Remembered for 🌍.

Bro just give me a UP TO DATE ROSTER from nxt, raw, smackdown and up to date gimmicks, titantrons, stables, arenas and you can leave out the legends thats what create a super star is for and create arena is for.
I have been playing 2K19 for years now and have absolutely no regrets. Still one of the best wrestling games I've ever played. The only reason I'm considering "upgrading" is the community creations no longer being active for 2K19
They shouldve left it open. I'd literally pay an outrageous monthly price for that.

That was the reason I upgraded to 2k23. If community creations were still live, I would still play it. However, the little I've played of 2k23 has been good. 😊
Comments like This are so strange to me. Its not a flex to still be playing 2k19. Like, no disrespect. But just because you prefer 2k19 doesn't mean the newer games aren't good.
@@KDB349 is it wierd that people play 2K14, Smackdown Shut Your Mouth,Here Comes The Pain, or No Mercy? 2K19 is a completely different gameplay style than the rebooted version. It makes sense to me. Glad you like it, but some people also dont like it. I tried to like it. But it doesnt hit right for my taste. It's not a flex. I just enjoy the Pure wrestling simulation that was the 2K/Yukes formula that 2K on their own has yet to give me. Theres literally UA-cam channels of guys still playing older games, even 2K19. People will complain about companies like 2K, and EA coming out with a game every year, but when someone like me stick with a certain game because of preferred gameplay elements we get shamed. Now that's what I call weird.

I really wish they would skip a year to work really hard on a game like WWE 2K22 if they would skip 2k24 and do 25 I think people would be more invested
Dear god a hope not. I personally haven’t run into bugs while playing, all I play is my universe mode.
Makes me wonder how big of a jump WWE 2k24 might be if at all.
It should have MASSIVE changes as we still haven't had a proper "Next Gen" game yet..
120fps? HDR? Strand Hair Technology? Etc...
Plus the Universe Mode code was completely re-written for WWE 2K23 so we should finally see major new features for that..

I bought 2K22 & skipped 23. I’m waiting for 24 because I feel like 23 didn’t have enough additions.

Well for me is not worth it I have the icon edition and I got bored with the game in 2 weeks I hope 2K24 is much better and i hope my factor and showcase is not in the game and focus on my rise and season mode like Smackdown HCTP that won’t happen but I can still wish for that.
I'd play WarGames a hell of a lot more if you could use it in custom arenas.
Can't believe they want £17.99 for 4 retro characters (Leviathan, Brock, Orton and Cena) in 2k23 hahahaha!!
Only good thing about the icon edition this year was leviathan batista because u got his music. Batistas first music before walk alone
i think if 2k started to release wwe games with up to date attires there'd be a huge incentive to buy the new game each year (im STILL mad about not having Dirty Dom even though he's in MyFaction)(and DX)(and Asuka)
Well said My Guy👍. I'm personally a MORE UP TO DATE guy which is why I'll side with 2k23 HOWEVER you made some Strong Points... I'll also add I DID NOT Get The Icon addition.... Before it came out my ONLY focus AT THE Time was just OWNING the game. HOWEVER a month or so later after The Release I went and Bought the Seasonpass... $39.99 was about right from what it offered. I have the Aggression in my Xbox Wishlist but ONLY when it goes on sale which they'll give me a notification when it does so, No Big Hurry to play with Those Add-ons just yet.

I purchased the Icon edition two days ago and I'm liking the improve movements in the game play, however my main issue remains the same... get rid of my faction, so we can get alternate attire's instead of having to rely on community creations with only 100 slots
I hope 2K will go the "In loving memory"-route with the Showcase mode in WWE 2K24, remembering amazing wrestlers that we've sadly lost too soon, like (but not limited to) "Eddie Guerrero : Lying, Cheating and Stealing", "Terry Funk : What is hardcore?", "The Ultimate Warrior : Show no mercy.", "Bray Wyatt : Wyatt Family to Wyatt Legacy" etc.
If they don’t do Huber, Billy Graham, or Umaga, Ima be disappointed.

Hell naw that's WWES job to do not 2k I mean it's sad that we've lost all of these great wrestlers but personally I don't want that.. it takes away from a great wrestling game experience, if they do come correct this time around they really should just freestyle the game have what's already there but just add better matches, do more for CAW, they really need to bring road to wrestlemania back in the game still have the showcases for sure

@@patrickgadsden1767 I wasn't thinking of it as being being their "main focus". And yes, there are definitely some modes that could (and should) be improved, which should (and probably is) the main focus.
But (and I'm only speaking for myself here), I wouldn't mind if they scrapped the MyRise mode, for a substantially bigger Showcase mode, spanning several wrestlers (both deceased and living), their carreers, their biggest matches and moments.

Early on i played My Rise - but as time goes on Universe Mode and My GM is where i go.
I was robbed. I bought the Icon Edition. Yeah got all the DLC packs and the ovw Cena, Randy, Batista, Lesnar. Of course all the legends came unlocked. Seeing now how they were lazy and didn't include an updated HBK, a nicer Angle model, or include Bam Bam or LOD, it's BS. We also should have got Rick Rude, Rick Martel, Texas Tornado, Mr Perfect etx
when I bought the 2K22 last year I bought the game season pass and the nwo pack separately this year I did the preorder of the icon edition because I wanted everything the game had to offer the icon edition isn’t worth it for the addition of the ruthless aggression pack for me the nwo edition of 2K22 was better because the additional arenas that came with it 2K23 didn’t have the strongest DLC and I’m with you on Wargames being the thing they marketed otherwise it’s the same game I don’t play Wargames as much either because it isn’t elimination style

The DLC as a whole for 2K23 is kinda underwhelming. I have all of it, but I only ever use Bray Wyatt (it’s still stupid that he was even DLC to begin with), Wade Barrett, and the Wrestlemania 22 arena. I did put the John Cena legacy belt on the modern version of Cena, but it really doesn’t even add much.
Honestly I don't think Icon edition is worth it because they can't do smaller things like downloading titatrons in community creations or other things that they can do but they don't want to do it because they're lazy and they want money and only money
If you play WWE 2K23 the icon edition you will lose all dlc even NWO and all packs
No it's trash like wwe 2k20 and 2k22. The universe mode is still broken
This years DLC packs were vastly unorganised. Why was Zeus amongst NXT Superstars when he's a legend? They should've had each pack labelled properly for example "The Up & Comers Pack" and "The Golden Era Pack" WWE 2k23 really had lackluster DLCs. I hope they do a better job with WWE 2K24, they should include a ruthless aggression variant of every superstar who was in that era and an attitude era variant of every superstar who was in that timeframe. Nostalgic theme songs etc, ability to download titantrons from community creations or let us upload our own music via media instead of Spotify Integration. Not really hard at all, also there is no collision with copyright because we're uploading the custom track for the entrance ourselves. 2K is just merely providing us with that option!
They had a legend in every pack to sell the packs.. Zeus is no different than any legend not connected to the pack just like lazy year

This game is broken sometimes when you customize a custom character the minute you click something or stay in create a superstar for a time period of 6-12 minutes it’ll crash and say “Error has occurred”
I got the Icon Edition as a birthday present and I don’t use any of the items aside from the arena and Prototype theme song. Meanwhile on 22 I did used the NWO to terrorize my caws on both universe mode and exhibition mode.
To me it’s not worth buying the games every year. I skipped 23 completely and I’ll just wait for 24
They need to get rid of my faction completely this isn’t nba 2k my team nobody plays that mode. Make improvements to all match types I have yet to experience the next gen version of this game feels like I’m still playing on ps4 🤷🏽♂️

I definitely agree with a lot of things said. 2k22 does have a lot more loaded roster and more bang for your buck and I feel reason it’s like that is because they lost a lot of trust and player base because of 2k20 and in order to get them back they really gave a lot to get people back in
2k23 is what I feel like a lot of the future games will look like in terms of giving content with wrestlers. A lot more standard sizes for DLC packs, pre order bonuses and such. I got 2k23 deluxe on sale and really enjoy it. Main reason to upgrade to the new game is if you want updated gimmicks, new stars and new moves but if you don’t care about that and don’t mind just having CAWs/attires in place then stay with 2k22 especially since you can get it for cheap
Got deluxe edition today of 23 on discount, I was so hype I’d started playing with the only few wrestlers they gave me and had so much fun I only I had 2 matches but still pretty funny

I’m still in love with 22 im waiting to get the ps5 to get 23 and just build up my Caw roster from there and cross my fingers that 24 can come out with multiple belts better cut scenes more legends and better graphics
I'm really hoping the DLC is much better, just wasn't impressed with it as much as I was with 2K22. With WCW being added in MYGM, I would love to see more actual WCW wrestlers added into the game. Maybe a WCW showcase, which I know it's hard to do because you need Sting but I would hope much like how Jake Roberts is in AEW but also has a deal with 2K that we could get Sting back in some way. Ric Flair being an obvious addition back since he's on good terms with WWE again, would be cool if 2K could get Dennis Rodman in the WWE games since he was apart of the NWO. Is it too late to start the CM Punk as the 2K24 Pre-Order Bonus Hype? lol.

Haha I am the same I've played war game's a total of under 10 time's probably 5 max and I bet 2k could use it against us and be like SEE WE GAVE YOU A NEW MATCH TYPE YOU KEEP CRYING FOR AND WE GAVE IT TO YOU AND NO PLAYED IT.. FANS YES BUT isn't the match type's we want tho 2k
I think 2k should get rid of the my faction mode and just put the efforts into making more DLCs and updating the superstar to their most recent gimmick.... atleast untill 4 months before the next game releases.
Worth it
I mean it was worth it for me I didn’t have an issue with the DLC but 22 was better in that aspect but most of those are in 23 so yeah it could’ve been a little bit cheaper. But other than that and the normal crashing and other glitches and bugs that seems 2K will never fix! I enjoyed it and still am.
For those wondering the game goes on sale a lot with PlayStation and Xbox if you got the online pass so just look for when it’s in sale and you can have ultimate edition sometimes cheaper then the regular so just always look for sales

Remember when the most expensive edition would come with autographs and other cool stuff? I will never in my life pay $120 just for a GAME. I'm not sure why they got rid of the physical special editions :(
Great honest review, Matt. I will personally always buy the collection edition, only because I want everything the game has to offer. The 2K games are still to this day, my most played games. Hopefully, they come correct with 2K24.

The icon edition is cheaper than deluxe on sale (ends 6th november) on steam

IMO there's no compelling reason to buy the more expensive editions of any yearly sports game, since you're probably just gonna move onto the next game when it comes out and have to start all over

I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't have to buy the Icon Edition. I bought the Deluxe and just bought the Icon Edition pack (I forget what it's called) separately in the PS Store day 1.
