Sadie has been playing her mother's character in brand new Doctor Who audio dramas from Big Finish. She is doing an absolutely brilliant job and sounds uncanningly like her mother. I would have no problem if Sadie ended up playing Sarah Jane in the TV series at some point. I think it would be absolutely brilliant!
I’m not sure if there’s a place for that, especially all these years on, but they can certainly give her some other kind of part. Sladen’s widower was the guy Twelve accosted in Deep Breath. David and Michael Troughton have done guest spots. And Sean Pertwee has been approached before but he’s a busy guy.
I can imagine Rani, Clyde, Luke and Sky receiving an alert from Mr Smith about some Rift Activity (Yeah the show is supposed to be in London, but the real house is right next to Torchwood 3, Cardiff) and then they find a younger version of her (she was missing for years and they didn't know where she was, even thought she was dead).
I have to agree with David Tennant. Elizabeth playing Sarah was and always will be the one true companion. I have and will spend hours watching and listening to Elizabeth She was aways one of the people I always longed to meet. Sadly that will not be I have just watched School Reunion again and had a lump in my throat at the end. Sadie, I can yell you knew how special your Mum was and know this her fans loved her and will always. Have a blessed and successful life. Hope you get your dream.
She's an amazing ambassador, just like her mom. The way she speaks and holds herself. Articulate. Phenomenal. At least give her an interview for a future DOCTOR
Tom Baker and Lis Sladen were the Dr Who dream team. They were a big part of my childhood. It was such a terrible shock when she passed away. And it's great to see Sadie for the first time. She is a credit to her mum.
Sarah Jane Smith was my favourite female companion and I never sadly met Liz Sladen in real life and I am pleased Sadie her daughter has taken over her mums role in the Return of the Cybermen one audio story I have got and it is awesome I seriously hope Sadie continues to play Sarah Jane in more audio stories
Elizabeth Sladen was and will always be my favourite companion. Watched all of the episodes with her in it multiple times. I was so sad when she first left the show a long long time ago. And much sadder when she passed away. Such a sweet lovely person.
What a lovely young lady. Her Mum was much beloved, so I hope Sadie makes it in her own right. All the charming traits are there to also become much beloved.
I have got the Return of the Cybermen cd with Tom Baker and Sadie Sladen and Sadie plays Liz's role of Sarah really well and I wish I had met Liz Sladen in real life I hope to meet Sadie one day
I will say for Big Finish stories I hope Sadie gets to meet the Doctors Time Lord, arch-enemy the Master as Sarah Jane only really met the Master on television in the 20th anniversary story the 5 Doctors and Liz would have met and worked with the Roger Delgado Master in the finale for Jon Pertwee which was to be originally called the Final Game in 6 parts and also the Master was to apparently be bumped off in an enormous cosmic explosion and he was to be revealed to be a darker side of the Doctor a shame this story never happened and Liz Sladen did not get to work with Roger Delgados Master.
She may have been lucky being paired with two great Doctors in an era with some of Doctor Who's greatest writers, but the reason people loved her character so much goes beyond that. She was also well written, but she personally brought something special to the character. I sometimes wonder if part of that was just her personal ability to really understand people and respect them and love them and see the good in them. Jon clearly missed Katy and no one could possibly replace her in his heart as a co-star, but Lis was able to bring enough fun and spunk and dedication to ease that loss more than it could have been for him. I think she let him play the father figure and mentor to her partly because she sensed that he needed to take someone under his wing. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure she got plenty out of it as well. She had the humility to be willing to be mentored. And with Tom she also had a unique sense about him and what he was trying to bring to the role and didn't take his abrasive - albeit less abrasive in the early days - nature personally. She knew it was him being artistic. And she also knew how to have fun, which was good for her, but I think it was essential for making the job fun for Tom and for encouraging him to find his character and take ownership of it. She brought her own personal sparkle to the character, and she brought out the best in all of her co-workers in an artistic way and in a personal way, which also helped create amazing chemistry on screen. So yes, she benefitted from a bit of luck and was certainly surrounded by some of the best writers, directors, actors, producers, etc. that would ever work on Doctor Who, but she still brought her own very special contribution to the character that made that character so beloved.
Digivoka, thanks so much for putting up this interview. Allows WHO fans around the world to keep up with current news we would otherwise miss totally. This is such a sweet interview with Sadie about Lis. It is hard to place a precise reason why the passing of Lis Sladen hit the WHO world so hard. Her "Sarah" was a unique, fantastic character, & Lis a genuine link, Pertwee-to-Baker, Letts-to-Hinchcliffe, Classic-to-New-Series, a secure foundation in transitional times. Lis is much-missed.
After seeing this interview, and having listened to Katy I absolutely believe 100% that Liza Minelli gave Katy that necklace as they knew each other from childhood and were good friends.
@@daveyhouston www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/doctor-who-return-of-the-cybermen-2216 there's a few trailers floating around too. She may not sound exactly the same, but Sadie captures the essence of Liz which is what really matters.
first dr who i ever saw was "Ark in Space"--I was 11 years old and stumbled upon it one day on the local PBS station and have been a fan ever since. there is a scene in that particular story where harry sullivan and one of the ark crew are using these special guns to fight--I guess it was supposed to be an alien larvae of some sort--and they keep shooting and shooting and ever few seconds the camera would cut to Lis who was making these "ok, ok, that's got it....ok, ok, enough already" faces...hilarous. I don't know if Lis was the best companion, but she certainly was the loveliest....R.I.P.
It’s so funny my Mum and Dad and my sister and I lived next door to Liz and Brian and little Sadie, in Ealing. When I got married, Liz let me borrow her veil that she’d worn at her own wedding. It was beautiful, long but very light, it was such a lovely thing for her to do.❤
i am a big Dr Who fan and loved Liz Sladen. Ive just seen this interview and cried at it even though liz died shortly before....i dont know howlong before it. She was a great actress in the WHO universe. We all love u Sadie. And we will all love Sarah Jane Smith to the end of time (no pun intended)
I would love to see Sadie get a role in Doctor Who some day. Perhaps as a future assistant. That would be very fitting and the fans would love it. If you agree, please click on the vote button. Maybe someone at the BBC will take notice.
thats true, she does have to accept it, but its a bloody hard thing to accept that the woman who brought you into the world, raised you, loved you, picked you up when you fell down, comforted you when you were ill etc is dead, its horrible, coming from experience, i lost my mum when i was 15 so i know how it feels :(
hope she becomes very successfull at whatever she does, acting would be good ! - the doctor always needs a good companion.Cant think of anybody more qualified!!
4:40 It likely is true that the necklace was given to Katie by Liza -- they are life-long friends since going to school together in England back in the 60s.
i have discovered that this person has been making nasty comments on other sites too, and is in fact on a list for abusing vulnerable people, this person only feeds off your responses, and as been reported.
@spinout Sadie does an awesome job as Sarah Jane IMO I would say she is pefect in trillions of ways having heard her on audio from Big Finish from the story return of the Cybermen she does an awesome job and Sarah Jane was my favourite female assitant from dr who and I wanted to be Sarah Jane in trillions of ways I sadly never had the chance to meet Liz Sladen
shame thought we never got the chance to another spin-off of doctor who that never got the chance success and that was canine 9 & company where Sarah Jane Smith & canine 9 where they supposed to investigate they did put that one and only episode uploaded it watch out for it
She is well presented here but not really eccentric enough to be an actress sadly. But then again, we _do_ live in a time when we name & shame anyone who may even try & pop their heads above the surface.

RIP Elisabeth Sladen. Our Sarah Jane!
Good GOD, she looks like her mum! So lovely when beloved actors carry on in their children.
What a lovely articulate young lady. A credit to her equally lovely mum. Rest in peace Lis, you very special lady. Great book!
I have to agree with David Tennant. Elizabeth playing Sarah was and always will be the one true companion. I have and will spend hours watching and listening to Elizabeth

I met Elizabeth a couple of times and she was a really lovely, friendly lady. Very gracious with her fans.
I cried when I heard that Liz had died. She was soooo gorgeous 😍
I just watched this clip and I must say. I look at Sadie, I see her mother in her.
She's an amazing ambassador, just like her mom. The way she speaks and holds herself. Articulate. Phenomenal.
At least give her an interview for a future DOCTOR
She could be like "I remember this face..."
I really touch wood and whistle Sadie continues to play Sarah Jane in more Dr Who audios she is perfect for her late mothers role

God, she does look like her mum it is like looking in a mirror.
What a pleasant, mature and eloquent person Sadie is. Lis would be proud of her.
I agree
TimelordUk Quick reply damn.
I'm sure she was proud of her.
She looked so healthy and never shown any signs of illness but she died suprising everbody
Healthy looking people die all the time from illnesses. A person doesn't have to look sick to be sick.
I loved Sarah Jane and seeing her with all the doctors in the show rip

Lovely to hear that Sadie is going to be playing Sarah alongside Tom in Return of the Cybermen ❤️
Really !!!?? When !?

two years on and i still cant believe shes gone :'(
Thanks so much her Daughter looks so much like her and this is all so beautiful. Thanks again.
My God doesnt she look just like her... .
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 we miss you Elisabeth
They really need to get Sadie in doctor who. Perhaps with Paul mcgann in a spin off
Sadie should be in the Doctor Who television series.
Sadie's doing an impression of Sarah Jane in the upcoming Big Finish audio story "The Return of the Cybermen".
@@timelordrock2954 She'll be playing the part of Sarah Jane, not doing an impression.

What a wonderful daughter. Looks like her mother. Beautiful
Sadie needs to be the new Sarah Jane and be in a new series
Miss u Eilsabeth Sladen RIP got autograph book it’s very interesting read about her life
It’s so funny my Mum and Dad and my sister and I lived next door to Liz and Brian and little Sadie, in Ealing.
When I got married, Liz let me borrow her veil that she’d worn at her own wedding. It was beautiful, long but very light, it was such a lovely thing for her to do.❤
Sadie is the very image of her mother wow!!
I would love a full series but can we please at least get a photo shoot of Sean Pertwee and Sadie Miller as the Doctor and Sarah Jane?
Love Elizabeth, she was always my favourite
sadie is so lovely just like her wonderful mother!!!!!!!
xxxxlisxxxx miss her so muchxxxxxxxx
Indeed, she's an absolutely lovely lady.
She really looks like her mom when she was younger and if she appeared in Doctor Who (on screen) that would be amazing!
Rest in Peace Liz

There have been so many wonderful and diverse companions over the years, but yes, it was always Sarah and the Doctor....
♥️💖Res in Peace, and May God also bless her loved ones
I would love to see Sadie get a role in Doctor Who some day. Perhaps as a future assistant. That would be very fitting and the fans would love it. If you agree, please click on the vote button. Maybe someone at the BBC will take notice.
Seems a bit stupid that she becomes a companion because she’s the daughter. I’d much rather have Rani or Clyde as they’re grown up...
Great interview, thanks for posting...
My Sarah Jane! All my love to long ago.
Oh, Lis. I always hoped I'd get around to meeting you. You were the best friend I never met.
A lovely interview...she has such a posh way of speaking, and her voice sounds just like that of Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary in Downton Abbey) :)
I wish she could follow in her foot step and become the next Sarah Jane Smith or appear in the Doctor who
thats true, she does have to accept it, but its a bloody hard thing to accept that the woman who brought you into the world, raised you, loved you, picked you up when you fell down, comforted you when you were ill etc is dead, its horrible, coming from experience, i lost my mum when i was 15 so i know how it feels :(
Saddie looks so much like her mother
hope she becomes very successfull at whatever she does, acting would be good ! - the doctor always needs a good companion.Cant think of anybody more qualified!!
Aw poor sadie I sen a letter to her saying I am a big fan of her mum I have got that book
Is that girl,,, Sarah Jane daughter ????
b. Feb 1985 of Elizabeth Sladen and Brian Miller. At the time of the interview Sadie was 26. I agree though, she does look younger.
4:40 It likely is true that the necklace was given to Katie by Liza -- they are life-long friends since going to school together in England back in the 60s.
Sarah Jane Smith / Elisabeth Sladen was the epitome of the Doctor's companion.
😢
I didn't even realise she'd died till I came across this just now (25 Nov). I must have been away in another dimension at the time.
God, she looks just like her mum!
i have discovered that this person has been making nasty comments on other sites too, and is in fact on a list for abusing vulnerable people, this person only feeds off your responses, and as been reported.
My god. Sadie should get a spin off herself maybe she was a companion with Paul McGann. Like one of the people who said this down in the comments.
my god, she looks like her mother, I can tell they're related
She looks just like Liz. The resemblance is uncanny!
1.34 Nice nurse-legionnaire flap-like hair with bangs Sadie for Sarah Jr Adventures reboot to remake unfinished episodes.
She plays Ellie in the Sarah Janes CDs
gad she's identical, down to the close eyes and the pretty mouth
❤️
She is an absolute carbon copy of her mother.
I fell sorry for her losing her wonder full mother she just look like her
yes he is gone. he tried to hide behind his computer and make nasty comments but like other trolls eventually they get caught.

Really? She looks younger.... She looks like she's in her late teens or early twenties....
Sadie could played Sarah from an alternate reality like 2009 Star Trek.
Why couldn't the doctor show up at young Sarah Jane's house and sadie could play her
@simonwtkns1 She was. Sadie had a wonderful mum - such an terrible loss.

How old is Sadie?
was 28 at the tine

that was rude and unnecessary.
