  • Cold with rain inbound, should probably get a ride in! Took the Suzuki DR650 out into the desert to ride an interesting backcountry route I recently discovered. Jen joined me on her Himalayan. This was a good area to do some skill building since the terrain consisted of a steep climb, descents/ascents on loose rocks and fun winding jeep tracks. Good stuff!
The Suzuki performed as I imagined it would, effortlessly. I can tell that this will be a fantastic off road bike!

Love this bike, still hedging between a DR650 and DR-Z400 as light to medium (cheaper) adv build. Man, if Suzuki gave the EFI treatment to the DR, like Kawa did to the KLR, the DR would be such an easy choice.

Although my ride of choice is the KLR 650, I love watching reviews of other makes and models. Thank you.

Another fun ride. About that runny nose… my dad told me years ago, “when you turn 60 your nose starts running”. How right he was! Mine actually started more around 66, I always have the right front pocket of my jacket filled with Kleenex.

Comparing the Himalayan to the dr650 is a great example and contrast to how amazing the Dr is as far as only weighing little over 300 lbs , it has bigger engine that Himalayan, yet it weighs over 100lbs less, I just find that interesting

Appreciate you watching! I use a GoPro and Media Mod. It works well most of the time. The biggest problem is the setup is big and is heavy. I'm thinking of switching to something else soon.

Hello from Alberta, Canada, thanks for the video! I just put my deposit down on my Mighty DR 650 yesterday. I bought the white model. I’m turbo excited to pick it up next week. I haven’t been riding in a long time any tips for gear, etc?

Congrats on your new DR650! Huge selection of choices for gear for the DR. I'm currently getting gear from T Rex Racing for my DR, great company. Their (second edition) skid plate offers lots of protection and I just did a video if the easy install of it.

With owning several adv bikes, I have the Royal enfield Himalayan, but like u need a bit larger adv bike so watching your vids on Dr650 to see if it is what I could use. I like the dr650, but also thinking of the cb500x as a second longer distance bike.

The new 500x looks pretty sweet, I wouldn't say no to one but the DR650 was a better fit for me.

@@precipiceofgrind I have seen some Aussies take the DR650 through some extreme situations. It seems like one of the ultimate shtf motorcycle.

    I'm not set-up for moto-camping yet but am interested in off-road training/experience.

As it is said, best way to train for it is to get out there and do it.
