I remember watching that segment. At one point Skip asked Cris Carter how many rings did he have lol. The next day though Skip did acknowledge that he shouldn't have said that but that was the last time CC was on the show which I figured was the reason why. It's pretty weak though to come out all tough now like you were going to do something now that Skip is no longer with FS1. Where was all that talk all of these years? That was a long time ago. CC should tell us why he got fired at FS1 😂.

When Tebow finally started, the team had no receivers. The fact that Tebow got that team to the playoffs with no receivers and won a playoff game was crazy. The fact Tebow dragged that Gators team with a racist and a murder to a championship is crazy.

Outstanding news about Chris Carter being back behind a mic... I've always enjoyed him. He's super creative. I might be mistaken, but I think he invented "C'mon Man!" as a segment and would routinely come up with other good pieces... I prayed that he was in good mental and physical health.

Skip fails to understand the difference between pointing out flaws in someone’s game and literally doing what you are paid to do and diminishing someone’s accomplishments. Chris Carter never took anything away from the hard work that Tebow put in. He was simply stating that Tebow simply wasn’t good enough to be a starting QB in the NFL. I always appreciated CC's perspective on TV. He gave high level analysis which validated his opinions in arguments. Skip is an habitual line crosser on air. He refused to not get personal when faced with facts that were contrary to his opinions.

CC was great on Mike and Mike in the morning back in the day as well. He always had good stories. He told one story about alcohol abuse and he said he was gonna give his son a chance that was 10+ years ago. I still remember that speech.
I'm no fan of Skip who has shown himself to be an A-hole to athletes on many occassion. It's not even up for debate. But there's no need for a grown man, Chris Carter, to threaten another grown man with violence over negative words aboout his football career. Carter would've been the one charged with assault, not Skip, had he carried out his threat. It just shows that Chris is even more insecure than Skip.
Cris Carter seems so unpleasant to be around. He can’t even have basic sports debate without coming across as deeply unhappy and jaded-toward what? I don’t know exactly. First Things First got on a fast track to being the best sports show out AS SOON as they moved on from CC.
Chris Carter was a good analyst and commentator but I was happy when he left First Things First. The vibe that exists now couldn't exist when Chris was there. It looked like people were on eggshells when Chris was there. Chris could just say end of conversation and it would just have to end. He was too big for the show and no one had the stature to question him. It got better with Brandon because they could question Brandon although Brandon was a star as well. Now everyone can debate without eggshells even when former players are on the show. It wasn't like that with Chris.
I personally didn't like Chris Cater on tv. He seemed to have open disdain for Nick which ruined the chemistry of the show. It definitely took off once he got let go.
I met Chris Carter the very day he was cut from the Eagles. We sat at Jon's Outdoor Cafe for about 5 hours drinking (with then Eagle LB Ron Moten) talking about his time with the Birds and where he thought things went wrong. He still had some of that "wild colt" in him, and even though it came out a little in his conversation about the team and Buddy Ryan, I saw it in his eyes when Randall Cunningham walked by with Whitney Houston on his arm. This was prior to the maturation of Chris, the "born again" Randall and their reunion with the Vikings. At that point, I think Chris was of the mindset that Randall left him out to dry, and he was not happy about it. Randall passed us and gave Chris a head nod and a knowing smirk, as if he knew exactly what time it was. If Chris could have snatched Randall's Adam's Apple out his neck in that moment and gotten away, I think he might have done it. That intensity you spoke about was like steam coming out of Chris.

Chris had a great football career, but at the time this happened, they were doing media where Skip was the bigger dog. It’s funny that CC couldn’t handle Skip’s words and he keeps getting fired while Shannon was the more mature man who wouldn’t let Skip bait him and now Shannon is the more successful of all three.

Chris Carter is one of my favorite NFL stories and television personalities. The personal demons he overcame to turn into one of the best receivers to ever play the game is nothing short of inspirational. Skip has never lost a debate if you ask him even though he be saying some wild stuff like his support for Tim Tebow and Johnny Manzel.
I have never understood the argument about Tebow. Everyone, except Skip, claiming he can't throw. I'm sorry, but did you not watch college football? Ya know he played quarterback for Florida, right? Florida did have passing plays. Now, was he Dan Marino? Well no. But what did NFL teams think of Joe Montana? Of Tom Brady? They didn't think much of them coming out of college because they weren't drafted very high. What did NFL teams think of Brady Quinn, Johnny Manzel, Ryan Leaf, JaMarcus Russell? They were the second coming. Oops. How about Lamar Jackson? Late first round. Did anyone think he was going to throw the ball like Dan, or Payton, Tom or Joe? No. But ya know what the Ravens did think? We can build a team around this guy and enhance what he can do, and cover up what he can't. Let him develop his short comings and get better over time. Pretty smart. No one will ever call Lamar the greatest thrower of the ball, but he's a hell of a quarterback. Would Tebow have ever been the greatest thrower? No. But if you built a team around what he's good at, and cover up what he's not .... Get my point? People were wrong about that kid.
Lamar has a rocket for an arm and a very compact and tight motion that allows him to get the ball out of his hand very quickly. He can also throw accurately and with velocity off platform from different arm angles. He also has good anticipation which means he can make passes on time. He`s not Patrick but he has a very good arm and feel for the game. Its his eyes and pre-snap where there`s a difference between himself and a guy like Patrick. Brady, Joe, Drew and Manning beat you before the ball was snapped and Brady had an above average arm. They all also had stellar footwork and throwing motions. Tim not only had a BB gun for an arm he had a long slow motion. The ball was literally below his waist with his elbow fully extended during the wind up... Looked like he was throwing a javelin at the Olympics. You want to run a quick out on 3rd and short he has to start throwing it on 1st and 10 for the da** thing to be there on time.
Completely disagree with this point, if Skip can’t disagree with or critique Chris because Chris is a hall of famer then NOBODY can talk about the greats like Brady, Moss, etc. Also if we have that attitude in other areas of life then people can’t criticize or disagree with government because they’ve never done it at a high level, can’t criticize public figures, etc. Also Chris was using his 8 pro bowl appearances to shut Skip up instead of proving him wrong, which is why he got the response he did which obviously struck a nerve🤷♂️
He did prove him wrong even though he didn't need to, In the argument they were having. Chris was correct in saying Tebows teammates were not galvanized and inspired just because he was having success........ and can give a good pep talk. Chris turned out to be correct about Tim. You don't have to prove someone wrong when debating an opinion.
They can thank him for their pay cheques first, without people like skip making entertainment of the days off an stuff like that, their wouldn’t be as much interest in the league which is a fact, so first they should thank him and his co workers for those over inflated pay packets

Marcellus you speak the truth. As a former collegiate athlete, I always say that are only a handful of guys in the league who are head and shoulders above everyone else. Everyone else is "lucky" as in the the were in the right situation to get there. Even with that being said, yeah they can be criticized but who are you when you were never in the game. Not to say their opinion doesn't matter but sometimes it looks kind of personal. Some of these folks be killing me. Like come on, Skip. CC is a dog. The reason you are employed is because of athletes like him giving you a something to write about. It ain't the other way around. You gotta respect it.

I've always enjoyed Carter's commentary, but if he's supposedly so "full of himself" because he knows what he accomplished, why wouldn't he just laugh it off if someone far less accomplished takes a shot at him? I do NOT condone the culture of tearing-down athletes on TV, but I'm also shocked at how needy for validation they are. To me, the worst example of this is Shaq putting out a dis track against Shannon. Someone as accomplished as Shaq (and Cris Carter) needing validation that bad is just outrageous. Not to mention that Carter sat next to Nick Wright, who's just as bad if not worse than Bayless.

That's why I would never speak degrading of a professional Athlete. I was never one didn't want to be one because I didn't want to work that hard. I remember the times they couldn't play with us as a child because they were at Practice or a Game. I remember seeing the Exhaustion, Cast, Tape, Bandages and Broken bones. And y'all were just teenagers then. Some of those guys don't understand the Feeling of that Blood, Sweat and Tears on the Body, Mind and Soul and don't give enough Respect to what y'all went through. Much Respect to you and most Professional Athletes. I grew up watching y'all. Took my Father to bring it out of me with chores, pushing/Encouraging and taking me to the court to Practice. Taught me a Hard Work Ethic.

Thats not it. Tnt was successful because they have character, personality and chemistry betwen them. Thats like saying if youre not a professional cook you cant say a stake is not cooked properly.
If athletes knew more about sports, they’d all be gambling and making tons of money. Yet when you watch sports shows and everyone on the show makes game picks, they’re no better at it than the chick sitting at the desk doing interviews. I’d still rather have at least some athletes on the shows, but they ain’t better at observing anything.
If I were a HOF player and somebody not nearly as accomplished as me said that, I'd hope to be comfortable with myself enough that I'd bust out laughing. We don't strive to excel to walk around begging for -- or demanding -- validation from others.

Chris Carter was a good analyst and commentator but I was happy when he left First Things First. The vibe that exists now couldn't exist when Chris was there. It looked like people were on eggshells when Chris was there. Chris could just say end of conversation and it would just have to end. He was too big for the show and no one had the stature to question him. It got better with Brandon because they could question Brandon although Brandon was a star as well.
Now everyone can debate without eggshells even when former players are on the show. It wasn't like that with Chris.

I met Chris Carter the very day he was cut from the Eagles. We sat at Jon's Outdoor Cafe for about 5 hours drinking (with then Eagle LB Ron Moten) talking about his time with the Birds and where he thought things went wrong. He still had some of that "wild colt" in him, and even though it came out a little in his conversation about the team and Buddy Ryan, I saw it in his eyes when Randall Cunningham walked by with Whitney Houston on his arm. This was prior to the maturation of Chris, the "born again" Randall and their reunion with the Vikings. At that point, I think Chris was of the mindset that Randall left him out to dry, and he was not happy about it. Randall passed us and gave Chris a head nod and a knowing smirk, as if he knew exactly what time it was. If Chris could have snatched Randall's Adam's Apple out his neck in that moment and gotten away, I think he might have done it. That intensity you spoke about was like steam coming out of Chris.

Chris Carter is one of my favorite NFL stories and television personalities. The personal demons he overcame to turn into one of the best receivers to ever play the game is nothing short of inspirational. Skip has never lost a debate if you ask him even though he be saying some wild stuff like his support for Tim Tebow and Johnny Manzel.
I have never understood the argument about Tebow. Everyone, except Skip, claiming he can't throw. I'm sorry, but did you not watch college football? Ya know he played quarterback for Florida, right? Florida did have passing plays. Now, was he Dan Marino? Well no. But what did NFL teams think of Joe Montana? Of Tom Brady? They didn't think much of them coming out of college because they weren't drafted very high. What did NFL teams think of Brady Quinn, Johnny Manzel, Ryan Leaf, JaMarcus Russell? They were the second coming. Oops. How about Lamar Jackson? Late first round. Did anyone think he was going to throw the ball like Dan, or Payton, Tom or Joe? No. But ya know what the Ravens did think? We can build a team around this guy and enhance what he can do, and cover up what he can't. Let him develop his short comings and get better over time. Pretty smart. No one will ever call Lamar the greatest thrower of the ball, but he's a hell of a quarterback. Would Tebow have ever been the greatest thrower? No. But if you built a team around what he's good at, and cover up what he's not .... Get my point? People were wrong about that kid.
Lamar has a rocket for an arm and a very compact and tight motion that allows him to get the ball out of his hand very quickly. He can also throw accurately and with velocity off platform from different arm angles. He also has good anticipation which means he can make passes on time. He`s not Patrick but he has a very good arm and feel for the game. Its his eyes and pre-snap where there`s a difference between himself and a guy like Patrick. Brady, Joe, Drew and Manning beat you before the ball was snapped and Brady had an above average arm. They all also had stellar footwork and throwing motions. Tim not only had a BB gun for an arm he had a long slow motion. The ball was literally below his waist with his elbow fully extended during the wind up... Looked like he was throwing a javelin at the Olympics. You want to run a quick out on 3rd and short he has to start throwing it on 1st and 10 for the da** thing to be there on time.
Completely disagree with this point, if Skip can’t disagree with or critique Chris because Chris is a hall of famer then NOBODY can talk about the greats like Brady, Moss, etc. Also if we have that attitude in other areas of life then people can’t criticize or disagree with government because they’ve never done it at a high level, can’t criticize public figures, etc. Also Chris was using his 8 pro bowl appearances to shut Skip up instead of proving him wrong, which is why he got the response he did which obviously struck a nerve🤷♂️

Marcellus you speak the truth. As a former collegiate athlete, I always say that are only a handful of guys in the league who are head and shoulders above everyone else. Everyone else is "lucky" as in the the were in the right situation to get there. Even with that being said, yeah they can be criticized but who are you when you were never in the game. Not to say their opinion doesn't matter but sometimes it looks kind of personal. Some of these folks be killing me. Like come on, Skip. CC is a dog. The reason you are employed is because of athletes like him giving you a something to write about. It ain't the other way around. You gotta respect it.
Athletes have insanely huge egos and sometimes they deserve to be knocked down a peg. The Chris Carter situation is different than Shannon's gripe with Skip. Shannon was hurt and disappointed that someone he built with would cut him so deeply like that. I've always enjoyed Carter's commentary, but if he's supposedly so "full of himself" because he knows what he accomplished, why wouldn't he just laugh it off if someone far less accomplished takes a shot at him? I do NOT condone the culture of tearing-down athletes on TV, but I'm also shocked at how needy for validation they are. I remember the times they couldn't play with us as a child because they were at Practice or a Game. I remember seeing the Exhaustion, Cast, Tape, Bandages and Broken bones. And y'all were just teenagers then. Some of those guys don't understand the Feeling of that Blood, Sweat and Tears on the Body, Mind and Soul and don't give enough Respect to what y'all went through.
