I agree. Ditches, drains and canals are some if thr most exciting, rewarding fishing that there is. And many times, there is no telling WHAT you're going to catch. Watch Ty PigPatrol sometime, with his ditch fishing...
Went to Canada this past summer to visit family. Brought my pole since we would be around so much water and caught my first perch plus several more. Very excited to catch such a pretty fish
"you going to feesh ova der" - Chicago Cab Driver. SICK VID JON. Unplanned excursions are always the best. I think you need to make a throwback "Hey everyone welcome to fishing the Midwest I'm your host...Jon B" video.
Diversey harbor is good for perch as well. Another good spot is is off of lakeshore dr and recreation drive. In the horseshoe across from the boat docks is a metal pier along the wall to fish off of. A small hair jig and wax worm will work for a ton of different species. There is parking but now you have to pay (wasn't that way when I was kid).
Try the cooling pond at NU in Evanston. People do snag trout and salmon from the bridge, but the heating plant for NU keeps the water open most of the time.
It has been an out of the norm great winter season for perch. Big trout and Cohos are the next thing to come close to shore. Got a nice 5 lb brown trout on Saturday. Beginning of March we start getting bigger numbers all along the Chicago shoreline. Give it a shot!
that moment when you're early enough to scroll through the comments and roast anyone who says "first" but nobody said it which actually gives you hope in youtube #MakeUA-camGreatAgain
False. I live over west. You hear shots down south up north and over east everyday. You think the 228 people were shot silently this year. And for you to say it isn't bad is just a joke...
Pretty nice side of town in Chicago, not likely to hear gunshots. More likely to hear gunshots out in the burbs (goose hunters in the fields). Dont believe everything you hear on the news. Most of the shooting in the city goes on in the gang ridden areas. Steer clear of those areas and Chicago is a really nice city.
Only in West and South side of Chicago. Chicago is really safe, by that I mean extremely. Just don't get lost into the West and South sides, it is extremely sketchy
You should definitely go fishing at Lake Chickamauga in Cleveland, TN. Get someone to take you on a boat and you'll get every cast catching if you fish for yellow bass, white bass, and crappie! If you do, please make a video on it.
that's awesome dude. We will have to do that, next time I am in Chicago. Ill be back from this deployment in JUL and probably home sometime in AUG or SEP
Hey Jon down by soldier field there is a giant event center behind it there are awesome spots for fishing tons of little inlets and larger rocks and such.
Hey Jon I have been watching your videos for 2 years now but I have watched all your vids the best part of my day is seeing your notification and watching your videos they bring a smile to my face and u also inspired me to make my own channel and now I have realized that my life is fishing and making vids and now I look back u Jon are the one who gave me my propose thank u for making these awesome vids and keep up the good work
Here is my tip of advice- Perch are usually on the bottom(all sizes) and LOVE live minos. You jig on the bottom and depending on the day you can get your limit(15) within an hour. Its best to go in early July to late August when the wind is blowing west. This is how me, my dad, and my grandpa catch them. For the last 3-4 years there hast been a single perch but this year they are catching them, so take my advice and try going soon.
This is maybe your your best video Jon. The idea of hitting the city, the beats give me visions of a Private Eye in the streets. Most of all your attitude was great. Minimal if any sarcasm, very positive. Great video Jon, thank you. I watch with my 8 year old daughter as a family, this video gets down to what your channel is all about, good job Jon B.
One of my "holdout cutters" that goes in just about everything is one of those little P38 can openers that fold flat - came in handy when I ended with a crazy long layover at the train station there in Chicago. :D
Jon B love your videos man I started watching your videos then realized you guys are fishing close to my neck of the woods I’m always downtown Chicago running a crane somewhere keep up all the hard work bro such a fantastic job very informative!!!!
I use to perch fish the lake back in the 70's-80's. I fished mainly from the old armory pier (which is gone now) up to Oak St. Beach off the concrete. Olive Park terrace was a hot spot back then. We would catch 100 a day sometimes. We would use a seine in the Des Plains river and catch soft shell crawfish and pinkies with maggots for bait.
Very cool. All the times I've been around Navy Pier and the River Walk and never thought to fish there, or ever see anyone else fishing. Time to fix that once the city lets up on the COVID quarantine!

Chicken Rap. Kinda like Rooster Tail?
fucking hilarious
People forget about the urban fishing opportunities. It was cool to see you get excited catching little perch instead of ten pound bass.
I often use a chicken wrap to catch fish as well 🎣
Make sure it has lettuce on it
love the urban fishing. Always food and a jar shop close by.
That water was pretty blue, shouldn't you have been using a chartreuse bait?
One random video can make your day, like losing the best video footage of your life can change it. Great video - Scott.
i love these urban area vids
I agree. Ditches, drains and canals are some if thr most exciting, rewarding fishing that there is. And many times, there is no telling WHAT you're going to catch. Watch Ty PigPatrol sometime, with his ditch fishing...
The reverse was pretty cool when you dropped the perch down to the water and raised it back up. Neat touch.
Jon that was the best random arse fishing trip I've watched on your channel . What an awesome day in Chicago. Keep the quality coming. 👍
Went to Canada this past summer to visit family. Brought my pole since we would be around so much water and caught my first perch plus several more. Very excited to catch such a pretty fish

the yellow finned perch seems fun but nothing beats European red fin perch ;)
yellow perch are delicious, red fin?
I wrote you an email about redfin perch fishing in Europe and some other stuff .Would have a blast fishing with you
I have never tasted a yellow fin, but I know that red fins are amazing. I always eat a lot of them in the summer
Yellow perch taste like small delicious walleye. Yellow perch may be the BEST tasting fish that you can catch in the Midwest and Great Lakes.
Zieday and now he has caught them in his England vids
I used to go down to the pier and montrose harbor for perch and smelt fishing with my dad, we used to keep and eat for dinner, nice video!
When you realize Jon B has exactly twice the amount of subs as Peric

That guy wasn't fishing for perch anyways, his rod was like for sharks.
Jeremiah Giles lololol
Try the cooling pond at NU in Evanston. People do snag trout and salmon from the bridge, but the heating plant for NU keeps the water open most of the time.
You should do a video with nothing but drone footage, b-roll, and beats
just wanna say, this was a bomb video. keep fishing, never stop
11:41 WHAT DID THE PERSON. DO?!? You cant just leave us curious like that :(

What’s wrong with you?! It doesn’t matter what joe did on the train.. a rod went down, that’s the only thing that anyone should care about. Grow up!
I grew up fishing navy pier this brought back memories. and they are so tasty! thank you so much for the post!
I guess we will never know about one of the people on the train..😭
Right before he broke the rod

Bucks Bass Fishing no
Bucks Bass Fishing no bro ur always beg sorry
some of my best fishing days were those where I "almost didn't go" because of low confidence or bad weather. Great video lots of slab perch!
Are people giving you weird looks in the city with those poles? haha
That's something I always think about even when I go out to the parks in my town. Lol
the interior of that train was so vintage. it was awesome!
You probably would've caught more fish using crack as bait.
B Stinson lol
B Stinson surprised he didn't catch a murder weapon in that river/waterway
Absolutely love perch! So glad to see you catching some, major fish here in Michigan
TBH, I was expecting to hear gunshots in the background of the video.
Adonai that's only at night
James Luck that's comforting

Glad to see you do some inner city fishing... this was great for the natives!
Love your editing, best fishing channel ever.
You should definitely go fishing at Lake Chickamauga in Cleveland, TN. Get someone to take you on a boat and you'll get every cast catching if you fish for yellow bass, white bass, and crappie! If you do, please make a video on it.
One of you better videos in a while. Good stuff
I live 5 minutes away from Lake Michigan, but I've never been really into fishing. I might have to go out an do this some time soon.
That has always been a great perch spot. I remember back before they redeveloped Navy Pier you could fish through holes in the pavement.
Awesome vid dude! Love the urban Chicago fishing
Thanks for showing some love for Chi City Young Plugg. Great job on slaying those perch dude ☺👍
Gotta love it when other people want to know what your using...because your smokin em!
Nice and unique video I like the change of pace to now fishing in the urban city, great video as always keep up the stunning work
Nice video, great edits and beats plus the city worked out great. Its always a better video when I can tell you had fun creating it.
Young Plugg... that's what i'm saying... it's all about getting out of your comfort zone and having fun! Embrace the discomfort. Great edit fomie.
it’s not big or popular but you should come fish lake murray in south carolina. it has some of the most beautiful fish!
Lol, if you come up to South Dakota this winter, those will be little perch. We catch 12+ inchers pretty consistently.
One of your best videos.. Great editing..
Awesome video! One of your best in a while in my opinion.
gosh the amount of skills you have on editing is jaw dropping ..
that's awesome dude. We will have to do that, next time I am in Chicago. Ill be back from this deployment in JUL and probably home sometime in AUG or SEP

The jumbos are about 16 inches and 1-1.5 pounds
Nice to see you in a god mood, enjoying some fishing... much better than hanging around the house being salty.
:01 that sound of metra pulling up sends chills. My daily 9-5 reality.
They said, " Chicken wrap," lol! I went on vacation there and rode that ferris wheel on the Navy Pier! Good memories!!
Love how that dude rolled up on your spot...huge pier
I like the change of pace to this video! You're always able to switch it up and make a unique video. Great vid Jon!
Great Video John, nice Perch fishing .
You should come and visit France, we have huge perches (about 15 inches and 2,5 pounds) and big pikes!
That pause while the fish was falling was pretty sick. Wouldn't expect anything less from you.
been watching your vids for a while, and I now it looks like you are a professional videographer
Awesome video man love the differnt type of content like this keep it up!
One of my "holdout cutters" that goes in just about everything is one of those little P38 can openers that fold flat - came in handy when I ended with a crazy long layover at the train station there in Chicago. :D
Always fun to catch different fish than you normally target. Great video.
Great video as always Jon. Thanks for uploading.
Nice perch. Fun setting to fish in. Oh and yes the gills are way sharp.
dope music! that bass line adds to the drama of the content
Jon B love your videos man I started watching your videos then realized you guys are fishing close to my neck of the woods I’m always downtown Chicago running a crane somewhere keep up all the hard work bro such a fantastic job very informative!!!!
You should come to the UK, and try out some fishing with us guys. Fishing for carp etc
