Thanks for noticing! Yes, its motive is derived from Chopin’s First Ballade in G Minor. (Though in my Waltz the resolution to G Minor is constantly delayed and lands on a soft Eb major instead.) The ending of the Waltz likewise shows similarities to the Ballade. I highly recommend Alfred Cortot’s version. An old recording can be found on UA-cam.
