@Izard-wn6cc Haha well now my response looks terrible 😂 Thanks for the thoughtful comment, I'm glad to have you around and I hope your rough patch is clearing up these days.
You may consider using 2 fletchings, 180 degrees apart like many crossbow bolts. And the problem with the flight can be fixed by finding the center of pressure and the center of mass, and making sure that the center of mass is in front of the center of pressure. The farther back the center of pressure is the more correction in flight there will be, and the closer together the center of mass and the center of pressure are the higher airspeed because of a reduction in air resistance from the flechings.
This is crazy, i remember when you first got a slingshot from sprave years ago and now you may finaly do a podcast. I`m so happy that you still post vids. No other UA-camr gets me so excitet
I am SO excited you are getting into wrist rockets! I've been watching you and Jeorg Sprave for years. I love this for you. Been thinking about designing my own wrist rocket and shepherd sling.
Try shooting them left foot forward , right foot back and holding your left hand lower and drawing back to your chest (right nip basically) instead of trying to sight down the bands - very quickly your instinct shooting will just kick in and you'll be surprised at how it works. It also allows a long drawback and higher speed. Loved this video and the way you constructed the flat band holders. Great stuff! 🙂👍

For the fletchings, you need to use Barge all-purpose rubber cement. The fletchings will rip apart LONG before the glue fails if you're using it. Barge is used in the initial construction of shoes when they are layering materials together that won't tolerate being stitched or tacked.
Make sure put glue on both sides, and that you let the glue dry almost all the way on both sides before pressing them together. Only downside of this glue, you only get one chance to glue it straight. Once the two sides touch, that's it.

Fun fact that blew my mind when I learned it is that elastic bands store a significant amount of their energy *thermally* which is why you noticed worse performance in the cold, since they had time to lose heat to the environment. You could try a series of 'warmup' flexes on the band to build up some heat before firing but my biggest recommendation would just be to fire almost instantly upon reaching maximum tension which will allow the band to act adiabatically (without time to lose heat to the environment) this will obviously impact accuracy but should provide more elastic power.
I’ve an idea for an upgrade for consideration: Mount on your slingshot holding forearm a fishing reel with a brace or leather strap and add a small clip to the end of the line. Clip the line to the dart pull knot and now you’ll be able to engage targets with non solid backstops (water, snow). Beyond hunting fish you’ll be able to easily track darts for recovery, measure shooting distance, and even send a line over objects like a house or even a pond. Anyhoo, great video and I look forward to any follow ups.
Slingshots are always just too spooky for me. Bows and crossbows and guns don't have that same risk of putting their projectile through your hand, unless you're Ivan's friend from that one meme. I'd have to have some sort of plate that covers the top of my hand and forearm so that when something inevitably goes to shit it doesn't result in a hospital visit. Wear a plate gauntlet and vambrace on the slingshot arm lol.
Agreed! It’s not _if,_ but _when._ The slingshot in this video is about the safest design I’ve seen yet for darts, but the results of a broad head going south would be devastating. A simple built-in (welded) skid-plate could help prevent a life-altering injury.
@@DanielGBenesScienceShows There's apparently also the danger of the darts clinging onto the bands, and then bouncing back to hit your face. Apparently that's happened a couple of times before.
Been watching you for years and everytime I get the notification it makes me excited. This many uploads in a row is crazy, keep up the good work brother
Tapering down rubber bands like that actually shortens their lifespan by a LOT! It forces the thinner parts to reach past the maximum amount of safe stretch, causing the rubber to get damaged, before it allows the thicker parts of the rubber to reach maximum power. Think about rubber like a bowstring, you never want to weaken a part of a bowstring, because you don't gain anything from it, but instead increase the risk of destroying your creation and hurting yourself. Love the vid though! :D
I have minor interest in slingshots or ballistic spear launchers, but I've watched every video you've made for the last 8 years, and every once in a while, youtube tells me you posted a video an hour prior. "Gotta have something to throw at Jesus' feet" -Eli of ZNA Productions.
Im not a slingshot guy, and this is my first vid to watch, but look into archery arrows for help on your accuracy. The weight of the arrow, straightness, and orientation of the fletching, all come into play for accuracy. As does the spine stiffness, but i think the short length of your darts knulls the spine issue. But this could help. Also, pro tip, mark/number each dart so you can see if its the same one that flies wild or true.
if you told me 10 years ago there would be a ZNA and Jeorg Sprave collab I would've believed you because it just makes sense, I'm honestly a little surprised it took this long. The 2 titans of DIY weapons finally shaking hands metaphorically speaking.
Just finished the video, perfect timing for my lunch break. Great video Eli 👍, I've been watching your content for years now. It always makes me happy to see you upload
I say it often because it's true... you are literally my only subscribed channel that I do have the notification bell on for. Love the content and always look forward to the next one.
Awesome! Id totally recommend you wear some kind of gauntlet or make an attachment on the slingshot that protects your hand. Just look up slingshot dart injury and you’ll see why. If the dart comes off at an angle it lands right in between your thumb and pointer finger.
Man, I remember when I learned about your channel through Zombie Go Boom. I'm still enjoying watching your videos all these years later. I'm glad I got to grow up watching you!
If you got a fishing line tied to the end of the fishing dart, its not bad in terms of flying straight. But just be weary that youll be having weight on the dart which makes it more likely to hit your hand. To help this issue i tend to fire holding the slingshot sideways
Watching you shoot the darts off those bands, I watched you have to align both of the loops onto the broad head each reload. May I suggest adding a small 2.5” or less tether to tie the two ends of the bands, but still move reasonably independently. Don’t know if that would make reload easier or not. If you do I’d love to see the upgrade in a short or something. Nice work!
For finding teeny tiny arrows in the snow or in the grass, replace that loop of paracord at the butt of the arrow with fluorescent paracord, paint the butt of the arrow with fluorescent paint, and then go looking for them with a UV light at night. It's not gonna do much in the woods but for practice shooting in your backyard it's gonna make it much more likely that you actually find your arrows.
This build just about shows the culmination of your vast experience with this sort of stuff. I loved all of it. Super happy the thing is relatively safe too.
Awesome video man. I bought a Titan Hunter slingshot from Catapult Carnage. I learned how to shoot a slingshot from watching Chris's videos. Now I'm hooked 😅
The beauty here is you can still use them for fishing. Just attatch your fishing line to the rope grip and off you go. I will say though. Just for safety, you need to add a hand plate. One of those bands could break and the singular band left could then do some weird shit and launch the dart right into your hand. With a metal plate then it truly is impossible. Love the video man!
ZNA and Joerg Sprave collab?!?? My my, I must be dreaming! And I agree, getting a good bullseye when you've been doing not so hot is a thrill like few others. Like ringing steel with a pistol at rifle ranges when the old dudes around you said it was "basically impossible" 😏
One who wished to improve the range and accuracy of slingshots discovered that Power increases range, but costs accuracy. So slingshot rocks were replaced with long wooden poles that sported feathers for stability. The slingshot's limbs were lengthened and the ends recurved to increase pull. It then dawned on him that he had made a bow.
Dude, this has been a great series, from crossbows, ballisstas, slingshot bows to dart throwers. Maybe incorporate some blacksmithing stuff, MAKE your own slingshot. Plus you've been uploading at a decent rate? Love it.
Bro. This video brought me back to watching and learning from you... Thank you ... Your the Bob Ross of garage mechanical engineering.. And now we have a " dowel dart" He needs a friend. Oh. How about a replacement broad head .. I first watched you making Armor and a riot sheild " years ago" Again. Thx
Great video Eli! I made my own set of Byzantine-style armor this fall and your videos were both a big inspiration and a great resource that helped me get the project done. Keep being awesome
Good job man, gonna steal the drill bit trick. Bows and slingshots are all the same, all about consistency of follow through. Push the sling towards the target and touch your ear with your release hand. If you do the same fundamentals every time, your mind will connect the dots with point of impact and line it up with your left pointer finger. All of this is moot if you don’t concentrate on your target and keep your eyes off your gear. If you’re looking at your equipment, you’re not looking at your target. Aim small, miss small. ETA: grip, skeletal alignment and keeping your fingers loose come next. Look up finger slings, make it so you’re not death griping. You should be able to wiggle your fingers at full draw.
I’ve been watching you forever, when I was in middle school I found you making makeshift weapons and armor out of signs. Love that you’re still doing it
Duuuude some proper innovations in this video. Your work is clean. You and jorg will get along really really well i bet. Thanks for the vid bro, much love.
I remember watching the Army Of Two Style Mask video when it came out when I was a kid trying to make weapons in my garage with my dad’s tools. I would fall off keeping up with every video every once in a while but it’s so nice to still be able to watch one of my favorite creators still at it after so many years.
Your videos always retained that very niche and specific humor with calming jazzy music, its got the vibes of the good times from before harambe passed.
I live vicariously through you bud. Your videos remind me of much better time in my life. i'll keep watching as long as you are happy making these videos. :)
Great job, but just a few things... 1. Hold the slingshot like you would a pistol--UPRIGHT. You can't aim correctly when you hold a weapon sideways. 2. Double up your straps, and you will have more power, which will improve your accuracy. 3. Tie a small string(3" thread) onto the rear of the arrow, and it should fly straighter. Keep up the good work.
Awesome dude. One thing i did with fletchings, carve a little nook then glue them in. Same concept as your arrow head seats. More contact, mo' friction, baby. Doesnt hurt the arrow shaft at all.
Scuff up the wood/aluminum (whatever shaft is made of) where you want the fletchings. This gives a rougher surface for glue to get down into and bind better.
Excellent video. I have been thinking about different ways of doing the same thing as a small light survival tool for some time now. you may not have acieved perfection but you are far beyond aything else I have seen.
For arrows and bolts, the center of balance needs to be 10% front of center to be stable in flight. Calculating the kinetic energy of a dart would be fascinating; using the dart weight in grains and chronograph in feet-per-second. I'm guessing it would be around 20 ft-lb. Elastic bands have tremendous internal friction because of it's molecular structure. Drawing starts with a high weight that drops off quickly as the bands relax. Fun to experiment with, tho.
Flat band superiority. Also the fish darts need line tied to them to provide the drag. When used they have to drag the line out of the reel. Awesome video btw.
I definitely enjoy all the modifications to increase safety protocols! Well done, Eli. Is it possible to add a bow sight to a slingshot, or would that throw the balance off to where it isn't accurate? I know sligshots typically don't have them, but it would be cool to do!
Wow, love that design buddy. I have got to make some of those when it warms up more outside. Plus don't forget that you can make darts using motorcycle and bicycle spokes because you want stiff strong rust proof wire that you can shoot from a slingshot. Also make a monkey fist to shoot over tree limbs incase you need to pull a rope or fishing lines to hang targets from. You can even hang up a screen for your projector so if your camping you can let others watch a movie or play video games on. If you take 3 stainless steel balls or hex nuts and wrap paracord making monkey fist and connect them together, i can't remember what the exact name is called but it's something like a ballerto? Basically a rope with weights you throw at legs of people or animals running away from you. It wraps around their legs tripping them so you can catch them.
how dare youtube keep this video away from me for 1 minute!?!?!?!? damn that looks nice as hell. the darts look dope! the slingshot as well. very well done!

It’s crazy that I’m 21 now and I remember watching you turn 21 when I was a young kid, trying to explain to my mom how you are a good Christian man despite what it may seem to them do to the weapon making videos and exploding watermelons (old people just don’t get it) and to throw me a few bucks for the saw blade sweatshirt it’s like you’re family that I’ve never met that I’m more close to than I would be to any family member I’ve never met also I believe you played a very important role in my faith ,bros an evangelist through making weapons
Hey bro just found your channel and took about 3 to wish id found you years ago.. love the builds and the narration/sense of humour.. thansk for giving us something "not news doom n gloom" to keep entertained.. prayers none of those ropes or pvc arms snap lol.. oh btw.. if you could link the next phase of builds in it'd be great.. thanks again bro.. keep em comin
The reason that your dart flies straighter is that it's center of drag is behind it's center of mass, meaning that any amount of sideways wiggle will create a drag force that has a lot of leverage about the heavier part of the dart, causing it to correct more quickly, resulting in a much straighter flight. Throwing darts are weighted this same way and you can throw those guys perpendicular to the target and they will straighten out mid-air and still stick. You were right, it's all in the balance.
Another thing you can do to help the fletching stay on is to drill a hole halfway down the length of each one, just above the bottom where they connect to the wood, then loop some string through the holes to tie them down, just like you would if you were using real feathers.

But this could help. Also, pro tip, mark/number each dart so you can see if its the same one that flies wild or true.
two bold slingshot shooters... love Jorg and I can bet that he is as excited as I am
if you told me 10 years ago there would be a ZNA and Jeorg Sprave collab I would've believed you because it just makes sense, I'm honestly a little surprised it took this long. The 2 titans of DIY weapons finally shaking hands metaphorically speaking.
such a sweet make. I love the little string/knot puller innovation on the darts. And I also love all the little maker tips sprinkled throughout
Just finished the video, perfect timing for my lunch break. Great video Eli 👍, I've been watching your content for years now. It always makes me happy to see you upload
ZNA drops a video, gonna be a good day
I say it often because it's true... you are literally my only subscribed channel that I do have the notification bell on for.
I like how you transpose/reverse vertical and horizontal. Great job.
Dude. I've never seen this channel before, but manually opening the third eye is possibly the funniest thing I've seen on UA-cam
Seeing Eli's genuine enthusiasm is so wholesome
0:34 is that the Xavier renegade angel theme
Damn right it is!
Having your entire spray can collection next to your target practice wall is wild.
Idk if you shot a spray can before but maybe move them
The beauty here is you can still use them for fishing.
I still have my PCV long bow at my parents house. You are my youtube GOAT. Thanks Eli. Its crazy to see how far you’ve come
One who wished to improve the range and accuracy of slingshots discovered that
Power increases range, but costs accuracy.
So slingshot rocks were replaced with long wooden poles that sported feathers for stability.
The slingshot's limbs were lengthened and the ends recurved to increase pull.
It then dawned on him that he had made a bow.
I love seeing you get better at welding. The bead was a little wonky, but it's miles above where you were 2,3, even 1 year ago
And now we have a " dowel dart"
He needs a friend. Oh. How about a replacement broad head ..
I first watched you making Armor and a riot sheild " years ago"
Again.
Thats so awesome that you got another sponsor!
Love you❤
Thanks a bunch! Very generous.
Ooh that’s a cool idea, small game hunting with the slingshot darts, that’s sounds awesome for a past time
I’ve been watching you forever, when I was in middle school I found you making makeshift weapons and armor out of signs. Love that you’re still doing it
I am always in awe of your incredible construction practices and ability to communicate it.
Its been so long, glad to see you’re still around, still remember the old saw blade weaponry days
Duuuude some proper innovations in this video. Your work is clean. You and jorg will get along really really well i bet. Thanks for the vid bro, much love.
That joy when you hit inside the ring was contagious!
Super video, don't skip!
You said this before watching it..
@@T1nyFr0gg its ZNA. you don't need to watch to know its great
4:44 if your excited, then im definitely excited! Love the channel brother, been watching for years!
lmao ninja said "manually opening your third eye". always love the words you use man. keep it up.
Can’t wait for the podcast!!!
Awesome dude.
One thing i did with fletchings, carve a little nook then glue them in. Same concept as your arrow head seats. More contact, mo' friction, baby. Doesnt hurt the arrow shaft at all.
Oh also extend the tails of the fletchings a bit more. Then the heat shrink will reallly do its job
Scuff up the wood/aluminum (whatever shaft is made of) where you want the fletchings. This gives a rougher surface for glue to get down into and bind better.
This is my video that i have watched from your channel and you seem like really fun and good guy so definitely wathcing your videos in the future
1:50 the immersion is cussing out your teammates for being useless 😂
Excellent video. I have been thinking about different ways of doing the same thing as a small light survival tool for some time now. you may not have acieved perfection but you are far beyond aything else I have seen.
A podcast would be absolutely insane, please do!
Man, that drill bit in the vise tip is dope. I never would have figured that out. I had no idea where you were going with that
I definitely enjoy all the modifications to increase safety protocols! Well done, Eli.
Is it possible to add a bow sight to a slingshot, or would that throw the balance off to where it isn't accurate? I know sligshots typically don't have them, but it would be cool to do!
Well thought out, great design. Looks like a blast to plink around with.
This is so cool. I really want one of these...
Gonna have to bookmark this for if/when I get the opportunity to try and make it!
Very cool. Like that cord release that ensures straight shaft on draw.
how dare youtube keep this video away from me for 1 minute!?!?!?!?
damn that looks nice as hell. the darts look dope!
the slingshot as well.
very well done!
Love the video great work perfection 😁 cant wait for the colab podcast if yall can get that goin, ive been watching you and Joerg the Slingshotchannel for at least 10-11 years now, im excited
So glad you're still making content bro. Really wish I had your setup to craft and tinker with shit, keep it up man
Man, you posting a video is the best birthday gift I could ever hope for. You an absolute legend ❤
Homie has some of the most loyal subs
Im so happy about this series of videos!!!
Always love ZNA uploads!! This thing is sick!! 🔥
You are such a good dude. It's been a pleasure watching your video over the years
Interesting content and superb presentation. So conversational and natural.
I just love your ideas, love your authentic style and your editing! Keep Going - you really entertain and give nice inspiration
