I know we're looking at wide gunlance, but considering that long gunlance is gonna have the stronger Wyrmstakes/Drake Auger, I imagine long builds could make the most out of the wyrmstake's ability to apply crits, elements, or status.
unfortunately, we'll have to hope the 'weapon adjustments' the devs talked about working on for release look into this, but i doubt there was enough feedback by the gunlance players during the beta about this issue so it's going under the radar unlike lance and bow. at least it's charged shells will show really big numbers for building up wyvernfire
Drake Auger does indeed deal Status/Elemental damage. However it has a 0.1x modifier for both. Same applies to the mount finisher. They also scale off sharpness. However this does not apply to the regular Wyrmstake. It seems they wanted to make sure every Focus Strike scaled more or less equally, as Lance's also has a similar concession, being the only shield attacks that deal Status/Element and scale off sharpness.
Gun Lance ticks being able to crit is huge it’s good to standardize weapons that to extra tick damage to critically hit like gun Lance charge blade and switch axe
Gunlance is looking super fun. If Wide's changes shelling gets a damage boost, maybe the way is to spam as many charged shots as possible. IIRC Normal and Long don't have bonus for charged shells.
It is possible this GL has guard up. Or seeing this is clearly high rank gear maybe gemed in. I didn't notice but yeah that hope GL is getting para hits.
i was trying my hardest to determine if wide shells (the fullburst version we could see briefly) were building more wyvernfire cooldown than Normal shells were, i tried watching footage of jp ign Rompopolo where we see normal fullburst build wyvernfire meter but it was hard to tell if all shell types build meter per shell the same or not, it kinda looked like wide built it up the same amount for a fullburst which would mean it's more per wide shell then normal but the guage is hard to judge for accurate it is
Crossing my fingers they've pulled off a miracle and the game runs way better than the demo. This is awesone As others have said I hope there's more than just spam WSFB for the different shell types.
If it makes you feel better it is likely the game will run better on launch. Playing the beta revealed that they had LOD bugs as well as frustrum culling bugs sometimes (as far as I could tell)
Capcom has talked about how'd they'd like to lower the system requirements for PC, so it's possible that they've already optimized it more than the beta.
It appears that the new move-set for Gunlance was REALLY not made for Wide. Not even the cool K.O. Stake from Rise is back. That’s a shame, looks like Wide will be eating scraps & breadcrumbs…again.🥺
@prideofjustice994 It's possible that Wide might have a style revolving around poke she'll for small openings, charged shelling for bigger openings, and using Wyvernfire whenever as quickly and often as possible. Which, while it wouldn't be taking the most advantage of the new melee stuff, is possibly going to take the most advantage of the shelling changes
@@Slendysiswhat you're saying is what i assumed was the game plan when we first learned about this combo, but now that we played the beta, its very clear that small openings are not significant anymore, you can move with shell step running sweep around attacks. you'll have wyrmstake fullburst ready to punish every attack. wide will be able to use single charges shells for parey punish for better wyvernfire build up. i see bo reason it won't get the same 1.8x multiplier for charged shells so it will be hitting hard
its really the combo that wasn't made for gunlance, it's the breadcrumbs the devs gave gunlance without even considering how overcentrilizing it is. max damage with maximum mobility that locks you into a stronger combo with no other options. at the very least it's better than charged shelling overcentrilizing effects in world, where it was really bad to use for normal. since wide is getting the same fullburst modifier as normal it's damage is only slightly worse as a whole combo, and wyvernfire after will always add up to the same or more than normal with wyvernfire. the trade off is, wide has best damage in during 1-4 second bursts, and +9 seconds with wyvernfire finishers. but the limited shells to move around is going to be the real trade off keeping it from being the best overall. i still think capacity isn't off the table, these sets aren't exactly optimized or any clue to deco access. but wide seems to be just fine without it
@@caoslayer Apologies for not being specific, I am pointing out the shelling modification wherein you can upgrade all gunlances to shelling level 8 . I am hoping they will apply it in wilds so that many gunlance will become viable not just niche gunlance just like in world/iceborne
@lancechua859 shelling level has been banished to the shadow realm meaning there are more options for viable gunlances other than which has the highest shell level.
I valued the TTS audio you used to add, because it's almost impossible to watch the moves and read the text at the same time 🙏
Sotrry today I had no time to include it.
TTS was important to me as well.
@ no prob! I just thought you were done with it for good, so I wanted to give my feedback on it :)

WSFB is fun, but I hope wide has a viable alternate play style other than spam that

Wide = charged shelling and wyvern fire
GL's second strongest move can crit now! This is not a drill... okay maybe it is

I could have sworn Wyrmstake could crit in World. Oh well, this is awesome!

Do you think shell type modification system similar to sunbreak will return?
You mean switch skills?
Doubt it sadly. Nothing in the UIs or videos point to it
