    The clam is already dead & the pearls/beads are placed inside. Colors are pretty but many are dyed like the dark green ones. Freshwater pearls are not naturally that color. It's just for show & clicks.

      These are wild pearls. The oysters and clams naturally get sand inside and they seal the irritant off with their nacre and thus you have pearls.

    • @SarcasticallySouthern30
      @SarcasticallySouthern30 Рік тому +13

      @@sharonwells9593 not wild pearls. Fresh water clams/mussels don't create pearls in a lot of the colors shown. You don't find pearls in fish like is shown in some of the videos either.

    Start watching at 3:02 look at the hand placement. She cuts barely cuts one side opened and the part where her hand is just opens up, you need to fully cut along for a clam of that size to open like that! Then watch at 3:20 look at the clam flesh, this supposedly is being a fresh clam. The flesh has been torn and the smaller clam is inside already under that flesh. She opens it from the opposite side where she inserted it for a more dramatic opening! Plus there is not one single imperfection in ANY of those Created Pearls???

    Si, clams produce pearls; indeed they can! Although not widely well-known, giant clams are capable of producing pearls of various sizes. The process of pearl formation is similar to those of oysters, where a particle acting as a 'nuclei' becomes the seed where new layers of material form over it, giving rise to the 'pearls, over time of course. The pearls came from freshwater mussels or clams found in the Mississippi and other rivers and streams. They were most likely found while using the mussels for food and the shells for tempering pottery. Today, pearls are available in several types, natural or cultured and freshwater or marine. Look it up. I did.
