- The 18th June 1815 dawns on the field of Waterloo and the two opposing armies take their places on a battlefield sodden and muddy after a night of heavy rain.
The fourth track from the soundtrack to the 1970 historical epic film Waterloo, directed by Sergey Bondarchuk and starring Rod Steiger as Napoleon and Christopher Plummer as Wellington. The accompanying soundtrack was composed by Nino Rota.
'Ahhhemmm, Sir. '
'Ah, Uxbridge.'
'As I am second-in-command and in case anything should happen to you, what are your plans?'
'To beat the French.'
What a simple and direct strategy.
- No... After Austerlitz - I said I would have six more good years. Now it's ten years and nine campaigns later. Listening?
- Every word.
- After I am dead and gone, what will the world say of me?
- It will say you extended the limits of glory.
- Is that all I'll leave my son? The limits of glory?
Compare that to the dialogue in the new napoleon film. Where he screams "YOURE SO GREAT BECAUSE YOU HAVE BOATS".
pathetic.
I did not usurp the crown. I found it in the gutter, and I picked it up - with my sword!
and the people placed it upon my head
@@gamerland5007 it was the people, alexis, that put it on my head
@@GNRA1GreatNorthern1470 And he wasnt even wrong about it: Napoleon won an election about that question in 1804.
@@TOFKAS01 Like good ol' Hitler.
If Napoleon would have heard Nino Rotas Soundtrack, he would have been quite pleased.
Hes more for military marches, but I get what you mean.
@@soyicus5571 well, half od this soundtrack is comprrised of military marches
If Napoleon heard Nino Rota's soundtrack, Napoleon would have promoted him to Field Marshall.
Gee, I wish that I had said that. But don't worry, I will.
Hw would have won 😂
"my body's dying...but my mind is still good "
it was “But my brain is still good”~~

For me, my body is dying, and my brain isn't good
I pray, that in my old age it will be like that and not the other way around
This battle describes my last school year...
that mean it was close for u to got your exam ?
You could have told your biology teacher, "If there is anything in this world about which I know positively nothing, it is agriculture."
That must have been some year.
By comparison, my last school year would describe it as the Battle of Austerlitz, all subjects outnumbered me and about to lose the year but in a bold move I managed to finish the year without failing a single subject
@@ellicenciadonacoquesecomel3381 What was the bold move? Are your teachers female?
Is that all I will leave for my son? The limits of glory?

Beautiful, with the polish lancers !
hi soye
@@lig_mag5776 were they polish? Or was that just a polish flag, which wasn’t intended to look polish. Remember there are at least 4 flags exactly the same or very similar to Poland
@@paulwilkinson4073 Poland was the best ally of Napoleon during the napoleonic war. Polish soldiers even were part of the imperial guard. So yes they are polish.
@@lig_mag5776 jeez bro never mind I really need to brush up on my napoleonic wars 😂😭

If Marshal Blucher doesn't come through now, they'll break every bone in my body!
Wellington wont hold us for an our with his English, Brunswickers, Belgians and God knows what else!
He calls the army a wheel ass.
@@TimoMomo I think you mean bouillabaisse, its a stew with different kinds of shellfish/clams.
@@swanner95 oh yeah, about 35 years of watching this film and I never heard that.
This Wellington wages war in a new way, sitting on his ass, and we'll have to move him off of it
Didn't realize this is the melody from the 2nd mvt of Beethoven's "Emperor" concerto. I think I like this version better, actually.
If Wellington were on the move, I'd say go now, but he's sitting Sire, with the mud in his favour
