- Join us for a day at St Maarten (Sint Maarten/ St Martin in the Caribbean Sea) as we stop on our Wonder of The Seas by Royal Caribbean cruise! St Maarten is a unique Caribbean Island which is Half French and Half Netherlands. We enjoy some breakfast before disembarking the ship and exploring the shops in the Port. We then take a private taxi tour with Movements Taxi Service around the Island including the French and Dutch sides.
We make a nice stop at Maho Beach which is near St Martin Princess Juliana Airport to see some of the famous plane landings right over our heads stood on the beach! We felt the full force and Jet Blasts as planes were landing and taking off right above us!
To round off a fantastic day exploring somewhere new, we had a lovely stop at a local beach which has breathtaking clear waters and was not overcrowded!

We visited St Maarten in April 2023 when cruising on Marella Explorer 2 and absolutely loved it. We got a ferry from the cruise terminal into Phillipsburg which is the capital of the Dutch half of the island. We had a walk right along the seafront and into part of the town centre, both of which were spotlessly clean. On the way back we stopped for a drink at a bar called Big Bastards where the staff were really freindly and drinks very reasonably priced; $7 for Mango Dachary and $18 for 6 bears in an ice filled bucket. On the way back to the ship I bought myself a St Maarten Garvey shirt and we spotted a few iguanas just shilling by the sea. This was one of my 3 favourite islands, the others being Aruba and Curacao.

We found most local taxi guides in the Caribbean were very good , the only time I felt ripped off was in St Lucia, he regularly stopped where all the street hawkers were and we got mobbed each time , other islands not an issue, Larry sounded like a top bloke 👍🏻👍🏻

Want to start with the positive, really good videos, informative, good quality, and you keep it interesting.
St Martin is one our favorite islands.
We usually take the boat taxi to the main beach from the port, and spend our day there on the beach, shopping in the area, and having lunch.
My only comment on what really isn't good is your keeping your balcony door open, it takes away ship ac, causes humidity to enter ship every time your cabin door is open, and also a great deal of pressure on your cabin door. Ever been in your cabin and hear doors slam, now you know why!
There are plenty of places to enjoy the fresh air outside, and you can even take a blanket to an outside deck and sleep at night.
Thats why the balcony doors are made to close automatically! And why there is usually a sign near the balcony door saying to keep it closed.
You're adding humidity, and heat to all the other cabins in your AC zone, cause the duct work is connected.
I know there are some people who do this, but that doesn't excuse their behavior.

Went here a few times with P&O, what alarms me as a PPL holder is the people who are stupid enough to stand right behind the aircraft when on take off power, they have no idea the power of these engines, and it only takes a small pebble to be whipped up and tossed back at them. Yes it's cool to see but just stand to one side.
