I agree! There's a lot of people where I live that get puppies for their children for gifts, & then when they get bigger they put them outside all day in 90+ degree weather, & will just put water out in the morning. (And by 11am it's hot to the touch! ) ive been known to go to several neighbors houses & put ive in their dogs bowls, several times a day in the past....
James and Tuck... I am getting ready to retire and start a small food forest. Your videos gave a great deal of encouragement. God bless America! Padre and Bugs the Dog
It's the "late planting" videos like this that are giving me hope here in July. Just had deer "discover" my garden, aka: their personal salad bar. You've given me good ideas for some plants to go back in with.
Your wealth of knowledge is impressive. Everytime I watch tour videos I have a notepad and pen so o can write some of them down. Nice to see tuck as always. Stay safe.....
I just love watching Tuck eat. It reminds me so much of my Killian. He lived veggies so much. Until Tuck I had never seen a dog love them so much! Thanks Tuck for reminding me of good memories of my dog in Heaven! 🐶🌱
The Gardening Channel With James Prigioni all of it... i counted back my days & am going another round. hopefully my little Stan can learn a thing or two from Tuck!
Zone 9b central Florida. We garden 365 days a year. With that said, we don't experience any change of seasons as you do. Love pictures of changing of the colors.
My first frost is October 13th. I just did bush beans, carrots, sugar snap peas, lettuce, kale, spinach, Swiss chard, onions, cucumbers, zucchini, yellow crooked neck summer squash, and I started seeds for broccoli and cauliflower inside in July, and still going to plant garlic too! This is my first garden this year! Spring crops didn't do the best with the late frost then fast 90s. But my summer crops are doing AMAZING!! I did multiple varieties of everything we eat and it's all doing awesome! I was so scared I wouldn't get it to work but it's so true to just try and you might be surprised! I just had to learn to can and preserving because we have overwhelming amounts! 🥰
Once the late summer/fall sown carrots are up a few inches, I mulch them. Once the really cold weather arrives I add a lot more mulch. The carrots will also grow more slowly in the shorter daylight. I have harvested carrots as late as New Year's Day (zone 7 a/b South Jersey). The ground was frozen, but the carrots were still really good!
Tuck cracks.me.up! :) He is so stinkin' cute. Thanks for all the advice and exuberance. Your energy is infectious. Keep the videos coming. Thanks for all you do.
I was a victim of pyralid poisoning this year and lost all my precious starts and my entire compost pile. Then I had a raccoon pick off a few of my chickens so I completely understand feeling utterly dejected. I'm replanting and rethinking everything and I'm hatching eggs to replace my girls. Just......keep......growing......❤
Thank you so much for sharing all this information. We just bought a house and it needed a lot of outdoor cleaning of the yard but we’ve come along and now I know where I will be setting up my garden so I am very excited to watch your videos and to learn about planting all theses amazing veggies, herbs and fruits🥰 your awesome
What I learned from from this video I didn't know before: * adding excessive nitrogen to nitrogen producing plants (like many legumes) results in more leaf growth and less fruit/veg growth. * using a 1ft plank of wood is a quick and easy way to engage in square foot gardening. * leaving the plank over carrot seeds makes germination easier and with greater success. * BT is a great organic spray for brassicas * Tuck is a not so secret vegetarian!
I love winged beans. Those taste so good! Great seeing your security gardener (Tuck) enjoying the fruits of his labour. He deserves it as he works so hard guarding the garden. Lol
Thanks James! I live in Maryland and got started late this year due to tearing up my old raised beds and putting in new ones. I was not finished until the end of June but one the plus side I was able to purchase some tomato and pepper plants really cheap ($1.00 per plant) from the local nursery and the tomatoes are now producing fruit. I held off planting anything else but thanks to you I can make use of the empty parts of my new beds.
I got a late start as well. I just recently bought a house, we didnt get finished moving until the end of May. (I usually put things in the ground beginning of April) There was already a large space that the previous owners used for their garden so I decided to just add a bunch of rich compost on top and plant in the ground this year and wait until a fall or next Spring to build-up my raised beds because I had seed started about 150+ plants & flowers in april! They need a out of their pots ASAP!
This is the first year we've been serious about growing food. I'm always looking for ideas on how to always be cropping (as Charles Dowding says). Thank you. This is very helpful.
I just transplanted sugar snap peas yesterday and today was the early sweet pea to help attract pollinators in the cooler months. Even though we didn’t get a storm or anything here in Cali I am literally so behind in building my no-til garden bed that I plan to get up this week before dawn to do some work. Weather is getting so hot this week. Take care! ✌🏼
This was another great video James, but...sign, as always, Tuck steals the show❤️ as demonstrated by his consumption of cuc's and carrots.🥕 My Chihuahuas love fresh corn 🌽, blueberries, carrots, and snow peas🌱. Of course there are many shredded and cooked veg they don't know they are eating, but my pups are the star of my garden too! Wishing you the best from New Mexico!🐶🧡
James, thanks for sharing your gardening skills... I am new to gardening and certainly appreciate the info and suggestions. thanks and keep posting pls.
Thank you sooooo much for this video. I am a new subscriber AND new to gardening. I mean NEW, GREEN NEW🤗. It is refreshing to actually see in real time planting techniques. With regard to preparing for SPRING and FALL. It tends to be a bit overwhelming, however I appreciate your direction in showing actual transition into FALL. Please make video of how you begin to prepare your beds for winter- after harvest. 👍🏽🤗
When I saw the storm going through your garden, I felt the pain I'm sure you felt... but the video was so uplifting and encouraging that it lifted my spirits for both my empathy for you james and for my own drive for my garden as well. Thanks for the insight, the encouragement and the shared experience. You have a noble and helpful channel my friend. Tuck is a lucky dog.. Nick
James, you channel of knowledge about plants is Great, I personally thank you for sharing your tips on gardening and growing plants in August. I personally have grown lettuce and radishes during the month of August and all the way into fall for instance, just give them a little mulch and they will thive and survive until ready to harvest. Sincerely, Mark.
This is becoming my go-to spot for relaxing when I need top chill. I've been so incredibly stressed out lately. But I watch your vids, then I go play in my container garden. You're like this Zen Gardener Guru. Very cool. Love Tuck.
That's one reason O watch other gardening channels as well! It helps to give ke motivation! Ill watch a couple videos & then I'm like OK it's time to harvest or weed, etc.
Thanks for this video. Very informative and taught me a lot of different tidbits. I've never done a fall garden but since you're in NJ and I'm in PA, everything will hopefully work!
I always enjoy your videos and especially the ones targeted to making the most of the growing season! I live around the same kind of latitude as Seattle, and while my first frost date is in early November, my big issue is pollinators who start overwintering what seems a couple of weeks before the first frost date. I planted peas last year in August and did not get any kind of return on them because I'm not into hand pollinating, and the bees were not around to do the job either. I did not try any self-pollinators like tomatoes, because they are fairly sunlight-intensive. Night time temps drop off fairly low come mid September, so I try to plan accordingly. Thanks for all your helpful advice!
You are an inspiration Mr. Prigioni. Thank you. You make the gardening world a better place. And we love Tuck!!
I think it's cool that Tucker eats his veggies!
I love the way you treat your dog! I wish everyone would treat their animals this well. Bless you and your family and your sweet Tuck.

I live in zone 6b and just direct-sowed cucumbers, lettuce, spinach, carrots, beets, and dwarf cantalopes yesterday. ☺
I've got tiny cantaloupes too! Mine are called "Vine Peaches." What's your variety?

Tuck is so cute. I love watching him hang out in the garden and find snacks. You have a great garden buddy there.
Tuck is just the cutest! Found out the hard way my doxie likes cukes too. He may have harvest more than I did! He also ate the squash flowers.
It's truly a great thing to see you picking up the pieces and to keep going.....I LIKE HOW THE VIDEO THUMBNAIL SHOWS YOU DOING THAT!
