idk about Conan but i moved to another country for university and i was so scared about being homesick and i was and it was horrible at the beginning, when i got to my new house from the airport i literally sat down on my bed and cried and thought i made a mistake and should have just stayed in my hometown BUT! beginnings are always hard and it was a new place, so of course i felt odd. it literally took me a couple of days to feel like i belong in the neighbourhood, it takes as little as remembering the walk from the bus stop to your house to make it feel like you belong even a little bit and as soon as you unpack and make your room feel like it really is you living there, or when you find a spot where you always go to grab a coffee or read or do work or whatever, or when you make your first friend in the new place, that's when it gets a lot easier and it's not like you'll never see your family as well, i try to make the most out of my trips to see family, weirdly enough now that i moved out it feels like we're closer than we've ever been, it's like we talk more, i don't know, it's a weird thing and also we live in a time where we can literally see another person on our phone screen, so you know, skype or facetime your family as often as you can and it will be fine, after a while your new place will become your home :)
I too am a homebody, When I moved out I had a whole wall of pictures of everyone that I love and I always loved looking at it and also stay in touch with your loved ones ☺️

Also, on the notebook thing, I'm someone who loves taking notes by hand and I made the mistake of buying 1 notebook for each class...it was a total waste of paper. Now, I buy one super good 3-subject notebook per quarter and divide it myself into 4 for my classes, that way I'm never forgetting notebooks, my backpack is lighter, and I wasted less money!
