    Just bought my Son the 2002 Malibu LS 3.1L for his 1st Car. I wanted something reliable & safe & docile looking that does not draw unnecessary attention.

      It’s a great car to not draw any attention, but at the same time the driver can enjoy it because it feels/looks solid so it’s a win-win

    i know this post was 8 years ago but I get 31 MPG on the highway with tools and a 80lb dog, better on flat roads! 125k and still purring. Recommended, fyi

    Reminds me of our 03 Malibu that was the greatest car we ever had. It got up to 215k Miles but sadly it was totaled in an accident a year ago :( I really miss that car.

    All 02 malibus sound like that starting up. I have an 02 Malibu LS. And it has 173,000 miles and runs strong as ever. We just recently replaced the catalytic converter and has lots of power for a v6 . Not a bad car at all.

    I had a silver 2003 Chevrolet Malibu that I absolutely totally loved and adored I had to finally get rid of it this month on the 9th which was Tuesday and I cried cause it just hurt way to much having to leave it at the dealership where I got it fixed/worked on

    I have a 99 Cutlass that I’ve been working on to get running again, it has a bit over 69K on it, it was purchased in Florida and belonged to an older lady and then a local to here, my mother, and now I have it. I believe she purchased it for around $2500 in 2013 and it had 40K-50K on it at the time. Especially for it being free to me and not new enough to be as bad as modern GMs it’s a beautiful first car.

    I own a Chevy Malibu and these this things are fucking tanks. Mine has 240,000 miles on it with original drive train. Me and my friend bet the shit out of this car I have gone mudding and trucks have pulled me out case I was stuck so bad we jump this thing over rail road tracks and I even have crossing creeks in it, u name I bet we have done it as long as u do general maintains it will run. This car is American and bad ass

    • @kylebeatty1817
      @kylebeatty1817 9 років тому

      yes, the acceleration is good. its also got good traction but every front wheel drive car will have good traction the only prob i have is in the snow because its a lighter car if u are driving super icy conditions it wont stop as fast as some of the bigger suvs or mini vans

    Any cars reliable if its maintained. With that said, I bought an 01 model and ended up having to put front wheel bearings, outer tie rods, a new cruise control module, and a fuel pump in, all within a year of owning it. But I would trust it to drive cross country. Even at over 220k miles.

    My 2003 Malibu (bought 2004) has 99,500 miles and isn't anywhere near as loud and rough sounding!

      I traded in my Malibu in January 2015. Replaced it with a brand new 2015 Hyundai Elantra SE with Popular Package. It's interior and trunk is about the same size as the Malibu it replaced. Though the engine is only 1.8L, it's power combined with the lighter weight vehicle and 6 speed automatic transmission makes it about as nearly fast in acceleration as the Malibu it replaced which had the 3.1L 170 HP and 4 speed automatic transmission.

    but mine didn't have the automatic window thing it had the other it was the one where you have to roll the window up yourself

    I got one with 80k lady November. I feel like it can run a little smoother though. Ntb said my brakes were fine just possibly a little air space for dirt. but i hear like a cracking noise sometimes when turning and braking. Any tips to have my car in top teir shape with no worries? Thank you

    i just really hate how the shift knob gets in the way i have this car but it’s the classic one

    • @anthonyserna6151
      @anthonyserna6151 3 роки тому

      The shifter is taller because it can be used to rest your hand on.

    • @guffalump756

      You can also swap it with the Grand Am shifter from the same years. It fits like a glove, but is about 6 inches shorter. Did that on mine.

    AFTER 9/11, CHEVY STARTED PUTTING ITS ENERGY IN THE TRUCKS.
    I'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CHEVY OR AMERICAN-MADE FOR THAT MATTER.
    IF YOU HAVE A 2002 MALIBU THAT HAS BEEN A GOOD ONE, YOU ARE JUST LUCKY.
    "CONSUMER REPORTS" GAVE THE '02 MODELS A LOT (REPEAT, LOT) OF BLACK MARKS.
    THE '03s DID SOMEWHAT BETTER. CHEAP CARS THOUGH.

    these were some of the ugliest cars in the early 2ks. The 09-12 models are nice looking though.
