    Cory, I founded and directed two recoring schools for 25 years and recruited/mentored many faculty from the ranks of music makers. IMO you are a fantastic educator. Why? Because you’re totally into it, and your excitement about our art/craft is infectious. I own and make recordings on an Apollo 16, 8P and Twin. You make me want to dive into this new box. Thank you for doing what you do.

    I'm an absolute noob to recording, this stuff was always out of my price range. But I always wanted to write some songs with my drummer friend who is quite knowledgeable with audio engineering. He had an Apollo mkii I believe but now he has an audient interface and he recommended the volt 1 for me to get started.
    Thanks for the tutorial

    Great demo on this unit !
    I just picked this volt up and it’s great! You didn’t get into the monitoring button (right side on top panel). Usually with that button off you won’t hear what you’re plugging in. It turns red and blue depending on if you want monitor in stereo or mono. Ask another great feature of this volt.

    Fantastic video Corey! I haven't come across any other video that was so easy to follow targeted to a recording noob like myself that demoes the basics of the audio recording process using so many live instruments -- mic'd: acoustic guitar and direct: two electric guitars and bass guitar, as well as vocals on top of a virtual drum track. It didn't hurt that you used the Volt 276 audio interface which is the centerpiece of the basic audio recording system I assembled but don't plan on purchasing until I progress much further with my guitar education (I'm at a basic intermediate level) and have more time to devote to the audio recording process. Thank you. Very practical and educational!

    I actually just picked the volt 276 today. I've been investing a lot of money into my live gear, amp, pedals, etc. This was a musical need that I've so desperately wanted to buy for awhile, a decent quality audio interface that wouldn't break my bank. Despite the fact that I've been playing guitar for over 20 years, I am only now getting into recording my music. Cheers for the video review mate, I'm satisfied with this purchase and over the last few hours I have been testing this thing out and trying out all this software. As someone who's used modelling amps in the past I honestly cant believe how far the software has come, though its not the same, its damn close to playing the real thing.

    Thanks Corey. I've been looking at the Volt 276 for a couple of weeks. Would you choose the 276 when the sound quality really matters? Or stick with the Apollo?

    • @coreycongilio
      @coreycongilio  3 роки тому +2

      For the price of the 276, the sound quality is REALLY tough to beat. I was totally happy with it. An Apollo gets you into the UA world of plugins etc but, honestly so much could be done with this simple box. And, Apollos are A LOT more expensive. They wanted to make sure sound quality was the most important thing from this line. You can always use 3rd party plugins that come with your DAW. At under $300, it's a pretty great value.

As an old dude but a neophyte insofar as using any recording devise is concerned, I’d appreciate if you or the community could direct me to a source that could instruct me on how to hook the volt up to my iPad using a guitar and mic. I wish I’d learned this stuff (recording/amps and the like) at an earlier age but my choice is either to start where I’m at or not trying at all; I prefer the former. As an aside, I’m paraplegic so if anyone knows of a devise that would enable me to record loops just using hands (or vocals) I’m all ears. With the advent of Siri and Alexa voice activation devises, I wish there was such a thing for loopers,, pedals and the like. Maybe someday for folks younger than me. Grins.

    Would the sound quality of this be better on the Apollo x4, or would this have sounded the same on the Volt? People are telling me to get the Apollo series because it has more headroom and is geared more to professionals and the Volt is for people who are just starting, though it sounds professional to me. I don’t know what interface to get, I have the Apogee, but it’s not going to be compatible with my MacBook M1 Max. Thanks.

      The quality will be similar in the digital realm but, the benefit of Apollo’s is that the conversion is better and you get to use their Plugins, Unison technology and Luna. Apollo’s are the UA flagship but, Volts are great for plenty of applications

    Hello ! How does the input lancy of VOLT feel when playing electric guitar - is it worse than in apollo or the real amp or you did't experienced those inconviniances ? (maybe it is playable enough even for fast passages, but it would be better if it was a little lower)).

    • @coreycongilio
      @coreycongilio  3 роки тому +1

      I wasn’t bothered by latency much at all. I worked around it in PT. I don’t experience latency at all with Apollo. Using Luna makes it super seemless.

    Question: I've got the Volt 176 and rotating the monitor knob on top doesn't seem to lower or increase my mic monitoring levels. Isn't it supposed to do just that?

    • @coreycongilio
      @coreycongilio  2 роки тому

      The monitor knob should lower the volume of your external monitors that you connect. I’d jump on the Ua forum on Facebook or email they’re support of that doesn’t help

    • @coreycongilio

      I’m biased because I’ve been a UA guy for years. UA has been the choice of many pros for years and I can tell you that they put A lot of RnD into their designs. Volts are a great value

    Is there a lot of difference between this one and Apollo Solo in terms of preamp quality for guitar recording?

    • @coreycongilio
      @coreycongilio  3 роки тому

      Yes, quite a big difference. The Solo is a part of the Apollo family which is thunderbolt and allows for UA plug-in use. The Volt is USB. Both sound good but, Apollo’s offer deeper function in the Universal Audio world. Volt has great sound quality and is great for the money in my opinion

      @@coreycongilio thank you for your reply! I have an option to either go with new macbook 2021 and get the Volt or buy a 2020 macbook and get the Apollo Solo. Still can't decide which one is better haha
      Do I have to buy more UAD plug ins to make the Solo reach its full potential or the ones they include should be more than enough to start with?
