Medieval FINGER LOOP BRAID Tutorial | Lacing Cord for Fantasy and Historical Costumes
Вставка

- Finger loop braid is a historical way to create lacing cord, dating back to the middle ages! In this video, I will teach you my favorite way to create a finger loop braided cord. I love using hand made cord on my historical clothing - and even fantasy projects! - to give it an authentic and personalized look. And I think it's something any of us can learn to do! I'm currently working on a new medieval dress project, so check back to see how it goes! I'm "berry" excited about it! ;)

I LOVE that you use your feet! I too am a proponent of foot tension!
I also am incredibly excited about this ensemble 😍
Yesss it's so helpful!! ❤️
Also, those eyelets are still the absolute glory!
Thank you so much! Eyelets are always a detail I think takes so long but pays off well!
@@DaisyViktoria based on your examples, I am inclined to agree. Also, inspired to practice
I followed this video and made a beautiful cord! I will say, I tried it sitting down but I wasn’t quite tall enough for the length of cord I needed. I tried it standing up and was able to get much better tension and a much longer cord. It was rough standing for an hour and a half 😅 but fellow short people out there might benefit from this tip!
Nice instructions, and I like the shrinkage formula.
I love what the colors ended up doing in your cord. perfectly fits that dress
Right? It's so cool that way! I've made so many cords and never even thought to do that before!
Love it! Thank you for such clear instructions. I am working on an historical inspired Merida dress (from the disney movie Brave) and it also involves spiral lacing in my kirtle at the front. Bye bye polyester shoelaces, hello handwoven cording lace 🥰🥰🥰
man, all those eyelets must have taken a lifetime to do! The cord looks *amazing* tho, and even though I don't need one at all I will be trying to braid one myself. Reminds me a little bit of when as a child I would try with friendship bracelets -- I would secure the threads to the leg of my jeans with a safety pin so they wouldn't move around, or I would tape them to the kitchen countertop with heavy duty painters tape. You gotta do what you gotta do! :D
I must try this! Thank you
Looks good! think I need to learn how to make these. Can't wait to see your project finished!
Aw thank you! It's such a fun detail to add and can be pretty quick to make them once you get the hang of it!
The dress look lovely
Thank you so much!!
This makes me think of kumihimo braiding a little bit - tension is provided by a disc with notches in it that hold the strings as you rotate them. This is definitely something I have to try!
Very pretty pink and neat cord making 💕
And she does...tries math even if with phone help!
God I love pink
