How I Try to Make Conga Patterns Interesting

- A lot of songs sound good with a simple conga pattern. But many players, including myself, fall into the habit of playing the same type of simple pattern when there are so many ways we can change it up. This video lesson explains how I try to make conga patterns interesting when a basic tumbao is too vanilla.

It's late midnight and I'm listening to your groove on Conga tumbao. Lovely.
Thanks Salim! I'm glad you like it.
Thanks for explaining. That pattern where the slaps come first reminisces Smooth Operator.
I get that vibe, too. Thanks for pointing it out!
Oh my goodness! You just answered one of my big concerns. I want to add more interesting rhythms to the basic conga tumbao! Thanks so much!!
You’re very welcome! I’m glad it’s helpful.
Lots of good info here. Thanks
Thanks for mentioning it!
Thank you! Very well done.
Glad it was helpful!
Very nice video. Thanks very much. Clean explanation and demonstration. Do often basic conga /bongo patterns; this helps.
Glad it was helpful!
@@RhythmNotes Your channel is SUPER. Just started with a few of the 27 video about 3h 15 min playlist Conga Patterns and that is like a conga course or rhtyhm library. Had basic lessons in conga techniques and learned most rhythms by myself. This really adds to my vocabulary and creativity on conga. Great you also are a drummer, that really helps. Also thanks for the notation: i am a reader and you perfectly demonstrate all rhythms so i can also see and hear it. Your video's are short and very to the point ...great. Looking forward to all the other video's. Will be some time on your channel for sure! Subscribed. This conga rhythm playlist and perhaps some basic techniques and poer haps some other instruments like bongo, cowbell, timbale, djembe(?) would also be nice as a package for Drumeo. I will point them to your channel.
@@RhythmNotes your channel is SUPER. watched more video's now and it is a like a complete conga or perhaps also percussion course for drummers. I will inform Drumeo. Perhaps your video's can be used as, edited to a course or pack with perhaps some live sessions and Q&A. Don't know if they are interested in percussion and your channel.
I’m glad you are getting so much value from my channel. I have a lesson library available through Patreon. patreon.com/rhythmnotes

Have you tried a different device or a different video on the same device? I could be your app or operating system update if it's mobile. I've had that problem before.
